To be honest I've watched very little highlights of this current AusvSA test series but with all of the on-field off-field drama I've been hearing about throughout the series, the first thing that came to mind was India's tour of Australia in 2008 and all the drama that took place in the test series then (Bad umpiring, monkey-gate, spirit of the game and whatnot).

So is this series worse than the 08 series in terms of drama? Discuss!

Nah that 2008 was something else. BCCI actually thought about pulling out of the series.

2008 was meant to be insane. My Indian friends still complain that they were robbed in that second test. All I remember was Peter Roebeck writing probably his most intense article ripping the Aussie teams' behaviour to shreds, and even the Aussie media turning against their team to an extent. This seems nothing compared to that.

lol that is true. Let this all be a lesson in that if you want to get into the heads of your opponents, do it with the bat/ball, not with verbals. At this point in time, wherever this line of moral conduct is drawn, intimidating via verbals will only lead to the crap that is happening now

Yeah I remember following it, there was very questionable umpiring. I don't remember the exact point it happened in, but I believe Ishant got Symonds caught behind, with a clear edge to Dhoni, but wasn't given.

Both heated series. I don't know what possibly could go wrong in the 4th test now, so far we've had bans for swearing to be overturned, bans for tampering, doubts about tweets etc.

2008 series was blatant cheating especially in Sydney.. An umpire like Buckner cant make so many howlers..

Before that match I thought Buckner was the best umpire in the world.. For umpire of his stature to do what he did smells something was fishy.. Yea the other umpire wasn’t any good either but he was a nobody compared to Buckner..

The only good part from that whole series is that BCCI came on top in the monkey gate incident.. Probably the start of the new era of power in world cricket.
