India tour of Sri Lanka (2024)

Yeah don't understand this Ruturaj wagon. He will get his chance in a few months when India phases out Rohit and Kohli.

Rutu will occupy Kohli's place in one day cricket. He's surplus in T20I cricket.
Ruturaj is CSK captain, perfect for #3 spot in ODIs & #5 in the test team.

BCCI have started focusing on Gill now that Kohli & Rohit are in twilight of their careers.

The broadcasters need spotlight on somebody after Dhoni, Kohli & Rohit.

That's why Gill is being made vice-captain but he ain't got it seeing his captaincy in the IPL.

Bumrah or Pant are more suited for captaincy as compared to statpadder & selfish Gill.

Ruturaj averages under 20 in ODI cricket. He hasn't seized his chances. Gill on the other hand averages 61. There is absolutely no comparison. Gill has done tremendously well in ODIs and deserve to be captain one day.

Rutu hasn't done anything of much note in First Class cricket to be considered for a test spot. His FC avg of 43 is not good enough to guarantee him any spot in the current XI. He need to have a huge season or 2 to be in the reckoning.

Bumrah deserves captaincy in an ideal world where he is a God who can play like w machine. But he is not. He needs to be carefully managed and play only viral series which means he can't be captain. Pant needs to solidify his place I'm white ball cricket before he can be considered ok for captaincy. His injury hasn't helped matters. Maybe a candidate in the future.

(I'd rather not dwell on the apparent preference and favoritism shown to Shubman Gill by the BCCI think tank.)
After Kohli, BCCI needs a new all format poster boy who can pull the crowd.
In the process of making new Kohli, I hope India doesn't end up with a Babar Azam.

I still believe Gill will do okay but becoming Kohli? That isn't gonna happen.

I think Gill has it in him to be evan a better batter than Kohli.

Kohli was an infuriating talent and an enfant terrible till he got his head working in the right direction. Just like Gill, he got going in the white ball format and took his time to be a force in red ball cricket. Kohli averaged in the 30s before that epic Australian series in 2014 when the unexpected additional responsibility of captaincy was rather thrust on him. And that really changed him as a batter.

Gill has already shown definitive signs of changing his red ball game. He's already a force in white ball cricket- especially ODIs and only a matter of time before he replicates it in T20Is too.

I think selectors have chosen the right time to groom him as a future captain. Someone like Gambhir is perfect for him at the moment.

Good on the selectors to notice Parag's value and reward him with both T20 and ODI calls.

Rinku missing out on a ODI spot is sad but also unavoidable given that both Rohit and Kohli are back. Also pleased to see KL back in ODI squad. He's been alright in the format.

The biggest let down is continued absence of Jaiswal in ODIs. Literally the best all format batsman in India right now and the more he bats at this age the better for his development.

New leadership group, Champions Trophy plans and more – Key takeaways from India’s squad for Sri Lanka tour

India will be led by two different captains for the T20I and ODI legs of the Sri Lanka tour, all set to commence on 27 July.

With Rohit Sharma having retired from the T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in the shortest format against Sri Lanka. Barring a few changes, the side bears a familiar look to the squad that featured in India’s successful ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.

The ODI side sees a number of stalwarts including Rohit and Virat Kohli return to the setup. As India gear up for their first tour under new head coach Gautam Gambhir, let us look at the key developments in the squad.

Emphasis on all-rounders

India will travel with a strong all-rounder contingent, marked by the presence of Riyan Parag, Hardik Pandya (T20Is only), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel.

This could mark a shift in the makeup of the lineup, especially in ODIs, wherein the side can field a mix of batting and bowling all-rounders. Riyan Parag offers a spin-bowling resource in the top or middle order, a facet that India’s ODI setup has lacked for a number of years.

What's next for Ravindra Jadeja in white-ball cricket?

Ravindra Jadeja, who also retired from T20I after the T20 World Cup win, was omitted from the ODI side. With India already carrying a number of all-round options, this might signal a move away from Jadeja in white-ball cricket.

Instead of the 35-year-old, India have gone with younger options in Washington Sundar and Axar Patel as the bowling all-rounders.

Sundar impressed during the recently concluded T20I series against Zimbabwe, winning the Player of the Series award, while Axar helped India win the key moments during the triumphant T20 World Cup campaign with his exceptional display in all three disciplines on the field.

Core of CWC23 backed for CT25

Along with skipper Rohit and Kohli, ODI regulars who featured in the Cricket World Cup 2023 including KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj are a part of the side.

Experienced names like Rahul, Gill (who was a reserve) and Iyer had missed out on the final squad for the T20 World Cup, but have the new management’s backing for the 50-over game. Rahul and Iyer had a standout Cricket World Cup with the willow, scoring 452 and 530 runs respectively, while Gill (354 runs) also made substantial contributions as an opener.

With the ICC Champions Trophy around the corner, India will likely field the core of this group for the event in 2025.

Gill enters the leadership group

After leading a second-string side in Zimbabwe, Gill has been named as the vice-captain in both formats for the Sri Lanka series. With several big names including KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer back in the side, Gill’s elevation shows that he has been marked out as a future leader in the white-ball setup.

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya who was the vice-captain for the side in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, has been relieved of the leadership duties. With Rohit’s retirement, Hardik could’ve been a possible captain in the T20I format, but in his stead, India have chosen Suryakumar Yadav to lead the T20I side for the Sri Lanka tour, with Gill as his deputy.

Fresh legs in the pace department

Apart from Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana (for ODIs) and Khaleel Ahmed are the other pacers in the mix. With Jasprit Bumrah being rested, and Mohammed Shami on the recovery road after his right heel surgery, India have opted to try out new faces with the goal of strengthening their pace department.

Khaleel, who last played ODIs in 2019, picked 17 wickets in the 2024 IPL and was among the reserves for the T20 World Cup before playing in Zimbabwe earlier this month.

Harshit Rana was also a part of the squad for the Zimbabwe tour but didn't play a game. Harshit had a splendid IPL with tournament winners Kolkata Knight Riders. The 22-year-old picked 19 wickets at an average of 20.15, picking big scalps throughout the season including Heinrich Klaasen, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Disappointed to see KL back in blue colors. The guy can't handle pressure.
One of the most versatile batsman but wasted all his talent due to lack of cricketing sense and ability to perform in tensed situations.

Mental midget is what I would describe him, always comes across as someone who is super fidgety & nervous at the crease even if he has crossed 100 runs.

I guess this will be the situation

Pant,Kl,Iyer,Parag will be competing for 2 spots at 4,5.Hope pant will settle down and parag can showcase his all round skills to oust kl.Problem is iyer is a dud in sa for next wc , so we don't want him to succeed in sl.

No abhishek Sharma in t20 squad is ridiculous.
And klrahul again?? Jeez- i thought this pest was done with. Samson dropped for this mental midget- boggles the mind..
And gill pant still dont deserve to be in t20s. Abhishek and Samson need a consistent run in t20s in my opinion

Little hope of that. Iyer will feast against SL but that's fine. He'll be very useful in the Champions Trophy whether it's in Pakistan, Sri Lanka or the UAE. After that, we can take stock and start thinking about the next world cup. The others can wait a while to demonstrate their white ball prowess on bouncy pitches starting in T20s.

Pant isn't helping in showing KL the door permanently. First accident and on top of it his either hit or miss style doesn't give full confidence. KL being proper batsman with wicket keeping skill convinces selectors to go with him.
But selectors need to realise that KL is a liability. He has been always.
I would prefer an U19 player over him any day.

I think Pant like sehwag needs a 200 score innings. Before accident he played a brilliant innings in eng against eng and have to rebuilt the art again. I prefer jurel on any day against Kl in limited formats. Samson is too unreliable.

Little hope of that.
In wc finals, Iyer was simply expecting bouncer against aus and cummins got him out on first ball with a good length ball. Iyer can be man handled any where by a good bowler. I can't bear KL after that atrocious innings in finals

Based on history of last 30 odd years, this should be a one sided affair and India will not gain much from the tour.

Out of the 10 T20 series between the two teams, India have won eight series, with Sri Lanka managing just one series victory while one series ended in a 1-1 draw. India and Sri Lanka have played each other in 29 T20 games, with India winning 19 and Sri Lanka managing nine wins, with one game washed out.

Indian record against SL in ODIs is even better. The last time India lost an ODI series against Sri Lanka was nearly 27 years ago in 1997, when the hosts won the four-match series 3-0 . After that India have registered 10 consecutive series wins in a row against Sri Lanka -- a run which started back in 2007.India hold a far superior H2H record against the Lankans with 99 victories from 168 games against 57 losses, with one tied match and 11 no-result games.

And last two ODI games between India and SL ( the Asia cup final and 2023 World cup league game) have resulted in SL being bowled out under 70 runs both the times ,having lost 6 wickets by the 10th over in both games.

That too came when India had to field an under strength team as 7 players got covid in the 2nd & 3rd match of that series. India had to play 6 bowlers on one occasion.

Players who should have been there:-

T20Is :- Seems alright, could have picked someone better than Khaleel.

ODIs :- Jaiswal and Samson both deserves to be there, bowling and balance seems weak without Bumrah, Kuldeep and Pandya.

Abhishek Nayar, Ryan ten Doeschate to travel to Sri Lanka as part of Gambhir's coaching staff; T Dilip fielding coach

Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate are set to travel to Sri Lanka as part of Gautam Gambhir's support staff. An official confirmation from the BCCI is awaited, but Nayar and ten Doeschate are due to travel to Colombo for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka. The Indian team is set to board the Colombo-bound flight from Mumbai on Monday (July 22) afternoon. Nayar is set to board the flight with Gambhir and the rest of the Indian team members. As far as ten Doeschate is concerned, he is likely to join the team directly in Colombo.

Both Nayar and ten Doeschate were part of the coaching set-up at the Kolkata Knight Riders, where Gautam Gambhir was the mentor. The former Netherlands all-rounder also shared the dressing room with Gambhir as a player at KKR. Interestingly, ten Doeschate was KKR's fielding coach, but he and Nayar are likely to travel as assistant coaches for the Sri Lanka tour with Team India.

Team India had no official assistant coaches during Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid's tenure. If it happens, it will be the first instance of two assistant coaches in Indian cricket's set-up.

"Yes, Abhishek Nayar and ten Doeschate are travelling to Sri Lanka as part of the Indian support staff," a highly-placed source in the know of things told Hindustan Times.

This leaves KKR with only head coach Chandrakant Pandit and bowling coach Bharat Arun in their support staff before next year's mega auction. The combination of Gambhir, Pandit, Nayar, ten Doeschate and Arun had done wonders for KKR as the players were extremely happy with the coaching staff. The results showed as the Kolkata-based franchise went on to lift the IPL trophy after 10 years.

The position of fielding coach is likely to remain with T Dilip. He will also travel with the team on Monday. The Hindustan Times reported earlier that the board was very happy with Dilip's performance and wanted him to continue as the fielding coach. Gambhir welcomed the move.

He is the only member of Rahul Dravid's coaching staff to get a second term. It is not new for a member of the previous coaching staff to continue with the next head coach. Vikram Rathour joined Ravi Shastri's coaching team after the 2019 ODI World Cup in place of Sanjay Bangar and continued until Dravid's term as the batting coach.

There is no clarity on the bowling coach yet. Gambhir has put weight firmly behind former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel. The BCCI also contacted the Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach, who is currently in Australia, but a deal is yet to be finalised. Highly regarded former Australian and NCA coach Troy Cooley could be asked to go to Sri Lanka as a stop-gap bowling coach.

KL Rahul should never wear indian jersey after that Selfish innings in WC final ,I cannot believe jokers are trying to make him captain. If that guy had played T20WC I am 100% sure we would have lost , one of the worst batsmen and statspadder in world ,he destroyed many times His IPL teams by his adamant and selfish batting .

babar need another 7 lives to reach the selfishness of our KL

India should test as many youngsters as possible against minnow teams.

No point in picking SKY, Hardik and other main guys against weaker teams. These irrelevant series must be used to unearth gems. I would've been happy to see the likes of Ashutosh Sharma, Shashank Singh, Anshul Kamboj, Nehal Wadera, Naman Dhir, Venky Iyer etc.

Big names must only play big tournaments.

Most of the players selected in the Srilankan squad are in great form.
They have decent chance of winning a rare series against India 👍🏻

Exciting series to come 😍

This is as good a squad as SL could have picked given the talent available and on show in LPL .

All selections can be justified.

‘Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja big loss for Indian cricket. Sri Lanka will aim to take advantage: Coach Sanath Jayasuriya

Former Sri Lanka captain and the current interim coach of the side, Sanath Jayasuriya, said India will feel the absence of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja in the upcoming T20I series against them. Rohit, Kohli, and Jadeja decided to draw curtains on their T20I careers after helping India win the T20 World Cup in the Americas, which was their first world title in 11 years. That's not all. Head coach Rahul Dravid's tenure ended with the World Cup, as did batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.

Ahead of Saturday's first match of the series in Pallekele, Jayasurya said Sri Lanka would aim to exploit the gaps created in the Indian XI due to Rohit, Kohli, and Jadeja's absence.

“Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the best players in the world. Looking at their talent and the kind of cricket they have played we all know where they belong, along with Jadeja,” Jayasuriya said. "Their absence will be a loss to the Indian team and we have to take maximum advantage out of that.”

Rohit and Kohli are the top two run-getters in T20Is, while Jadeja retired as one of the format's top all-rounders. Together, the three have starred in many memorable T20I wins for India over the last 15 years or so.

But Indian cricket has no dearth of talent. Rohit and Kohli will be replaced by Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top. Gill has been elavated as the vice-captain of both ODIs and T20Is as the selectors believe he is an all-format cricketer.

Rohit and Kohli will return for the three-match ODI series that follows the T20I series.

Sri Lanka have a new captain in Charith Asalanka

Jayasuriya took over as interim coach after Chris Silverwood quit after Sri Lanka's first-round exit from the T20 World Cup.

Wanindu Hasaranga, who led Sri Lanka in the tournament, has been replaced as captain by Charith Asalanka.

Sri Lanka has called up Kusal Perera and Avishka Fernando, who were not part of the World Cup side, while also including uncapped allrounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe, who performed well in the Lanka Premier League tournament.

Sri Lanka's chief selector Upul Tharanga said fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera, originally named in the 16-member squad, has been ruled out of both the Twenty20 and the one-day international series against India because of an injury and his replacement will be named soon.

Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana hopes that a good result for his team in the upcoming three-match T20 and ODI series against India, he said during a conversation with an Indian local sports media outlet:

“I think it will be a good challenge. India is coming with a new coach and some new players; their combination will be slightly different. But it will be a good challenge for us because they are world champions.”

“We have a very good side and a lot of talent and potential. Unfortunately, we didn’t do well in the T20 World Cup. But if we can win this series, it will be a confidence booster for the next three years.”

“After my under-19s, I was not in any squads in Sri Lanka. But since my debut for CSK, I got those chances and got selected for Sri Lanka’s main team. Playing for CSK is a gift from god for me. Until I played for CSK, not many knew me. Sharing the dressing room with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is very special for youngsters like me, especially coming from Sri Lanka.”

"A lot of people say I am good at death. But for me, that is not enough. I want to be good with the new ball and in the middle overs as well. If I can get swing and accuracy with the new ball, it will be good for me and the teams I play for.”

“I just want to keep it simple. I don’t think about that. If I get my accuracy at the pinpoint, the right lengths and the swing, that will be enough for me.”

"We can do something different and better than the last few years. We have a stable group and can give a good fight to do something special in the upcoming years.”

Injury Update:

Dushmantha Chameera will miss Sri Lanka's home series against India due to an injury

Hahaha yes

Bowling is also decent with Pathirana/Nuwan Thushara/Hasaranga & Theekshana.
Yes, Sri Lanka's bowling is good for T20 with Pathirana, Thusara, Hasaranga, and Wellalage in the lineup. I expect a good contest between the teams in this series.

Binura had the superior LPL season by far.

They have only picked 1 bowler from a type. Binura won out for the left arm seamer role.
I see. Thank you. I liked how Dilshan bowled in the 50 over world cup. Probably after the injury, he is not in good bowling form.

Ahead of the white-ball home series against India, newly appointed interim head coach Sanath Jayasuriya calls for discipline within the Sri Lankan team, including enforcing proper haircuts and the removal of piercings, he said:

"Our cricket-loving public love these cricketers, and they are watching them and there are young cricketers who are looking up to senior cricketers. They like to learn from them. If they do well it would help the younger generation of cricketers as well. It was on this backdrop we introduced these changes. We want to maintain cricket as the gentlemen's game,"

Imagine if Malinga hadn't retired

Chameera out, Thushara out..

By the time series starts on Saturday, don't know how many more will get injured.

SLC have habit of arranging LPL just before international series. As a result, lot of players who are carrying injuries & niggles get selected in the national team.

Imagine if Malinga hadn't retired
First let this current SL bowling attack achieve 1/10th of what Malinga did. If they are expecting Malinga like privileges, then need to put in a few shifts like Malinga.

Prime Malinga was a toe breaker for batters.

India have won the last 5 ODI series in Sri Lanka Can India maintain their dominance?

India need to fit Rinku somehow in the 11.

Tuk tuk Gill will find himself out of the team soon with his selfish batting.

Pant will open & we will have Rinku at #5 or #6.

Gautam Gambhir has lengthy, intense chat with Suryakumar Yadav immediately after winning first T20 series as India coach

The Indian team, on Sunday, scripted a comfortable win against Sri Lanka in the rain-affected second T20I match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, thus sealing the series. The hosts amassed 169 for nine in 20 overs, but the target was reduced to 78 in eight overs after rain interrupted the match for the second time during India's chase. It was a stroll in the park for India with the bat as Hardik Pandya smashed two back-to-back boundaries to wrap up the game with nine balls to spare.

After a loss in the opening game of the series on Saturday, Sri Lanka seemed to bounce back riding on Kusal Perera's half-century, with the batter also being involved in a few fifty-run stands and the home team finding themselves in a pretty good position at 130/2 after 15 overs. However, they faltered in the death overs, losing seven wickets for just 39 runs, and ended up with a below-par score.

Rain arrived in Pallekele three balls into India's innings, and the match was stopped for over an hour. Upon resumption, the Indian batters made an absolute mockery of the revised target, even after losing Sanju Samson to a golden duck. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav laid the foundation with their 39-run stand in just 13 balls, before Hardik smashed an unbeaten nine-ball 22 to help India script a second successive win in the series against Sri Lanka.

The win marked an impressive start for Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of the Indian team, and Suryakumar, for whom it was the first series as a full-time T20I captain. The two were later seen having lengthy and intense chat moments after the match ended, although there was no audio available to clarify their discussion topic.

Suryakumar, in the post-match discussion, opened up on the brand of cricket India want to play as they build towards the 2026 T20 World Cup and they aim to stick to the Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid blueprint which saw the side lift the T20 World Cup last month.

"We spoke about this before this tournament - what brand of cricket we want to play. Even if it's a shorter target or whatever target we are chasing, this is the template which we would like to go ahead with," he said.

India will play the final match of the series against Sri Lanka at the same venue on Tuesday.

Wrong reporting. The host didn't make 169 for 9 in 20 overs in the 2nd T20.

Very good from Sanath. I like this.

Meanwhile Team India captain resembles a tattoo store.

I don't like tattoos and piercings. But these are adults, and no one should be deciding what they do with their bodies. This is stupidity at the highest level from Sanath. He himself has lots of things to learn and hopefully he will before talking about others.

I agree. Dhoni for xample has ries so many different getups and his cricket didn't get affected largely.

All points to a short reign by Jayasurya. You can't babysit national level players. Yes you need to instill a sense of discipline but there is a fine but distinct line between professional and personal aspects of cricketers.

Siraj should be rested today, should be kept fresh for the 1st ODI.
Yeah i wish we'd included another pacer. Arshdeep's bowled a fair bit as well especially in the second half of the world cup. Maybe if the ODI squad has arrived already, Harshit Rana can get a bowl with some permissios? Else I'm afraid it'll have to be Siraj.

Decent team but did they really have to announce that the Minister of Sports approved it? Just setting themselves up for another suspension. Why make it public that he's getting involved in actual team selections? Even Pakistan doesn't do that and their Interior minister is their cricket board chairman. They maintain the pretense that he's not getting involved in stuff like team selections and that it's done independently by the selection committee.

New season, new captain for Sri Lanka.

Next season, Nissanka will become new captain.

Sri Lanka won't get anywhere with this constant chopping & changing.

No. India sent C team. INdia these days send 2 teams to 2 locations. Pandya was the captain.
On top of it,chahal played all the games instead of bishnoi.Dravid later said we don't have a batter at 8 in his typical idiotic way.Kishan was preferred over jaiswal as an opener for first 2 games even after jaiswal scoring daddy centuries in test series and everyone was asking for his inclusion.

Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul? Rohit Sharma opens up on India's problem of plenty

India will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series beginning on 2 August in Colombo.

A big quandary for India ahead of the ODI series would be around the wicketkeeper’s role.

In Rishabh Pant’s absence due to a horrific accident, KL Rahul donned the role in the fifty-overs format for a significant period in 2023, including the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at home and the subsequent South Africa tour.

However, with Pant's return both players are in the squad and India needs to pick one player as a wicketkeeper in the XI.

“I’ll need to discuss with the head coach. You’ll see it tomorrow when we play the game,” India skipper Rohit Sharma stated in the pre-match press conference.

KL Rahul has impressive batting numbers when being the designated wicketkeeper in ODIs. In 35 matches where he kept wickets for India, he has 1355 runs at an average of 58.91 with two hundreds and ten fifties. He also has 48 dismissals standing behind the stumps.

Pant, meanwhile, also had good numbers in his last year of appearance in ODIs. In 2022, Pant made 336 runs in 12 games, scoring his maiden ODI hundred (125* off 113) against England in Manchester.

This makes the choice between the two a tough one for India.

However, Rohit was pleased with this problem of plenty, wherein two talented players could pip each other out for a specialist role based on their performances.

“It’s a tough call. Both are quality players. They’re match-winners in their own way. It’s always nice to have problems picking up the team like that.

“When you’re discussing too much on who to pick or leave, then that means there’s quality in the team. Which I think is a good thing.”

“I look forward to these problems till I’m captain.”

Looking forward to the three-game series, Rohit believed in treating the bilateral encounters as important contests in their own right and not simply a preparation ground for the upcoming bigger tournaments.

“We want to come here and play good cricket. This is no practice ground. We want to get something out of the series. It is as simple as that.”

Instead of an emphasis on experimentation among personnel, Rohit was in favour of getting more out of the players on the field.

“For us, when we play a series or a game, we want to get something out of it as a team. If some batter did something different, or if the bowler did something else, we discuss about that in the dressing room.

“We want to get something out of a series, but not at the cost of [winning], showing no intent or purpose. Maintaining standard of Indian cricket is very important, and if you can maintain that and then end up losing, then that’s fine.”

Having retired from the T20I format after captaining India to a World Cup win in June, Rohit was questioned on how he felt about moving away from the format.

However, the India skipper lightened up the entire press conference by stating that “mentally” he wasn’t out of the format yet.

“The only difference I feel is that, I’ve felt like I’ve been rested from the T20Is, like it used to happen in the past. And then a big tournament will come up, and we’ve to again get ready for the T20Is.

“That’s how I feel. I don’t think, I’m completely out of the format.”

India ODI Squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, Harshit Rana.

And even more bizzare thing is that he'll most likely be our captain in the 2027 WC.

It's going to be the equivalent of Dravid captaining India in the 2011 WC after the 2007 disaster.
