India tour of Zimbabwe (2022)

Very exciting match.
India might win in the end but Sikandar Raza has played an incredible innings.

Zim might not have won the match but Raza is surely inspiring Zimbabweans to take up cricket with such batting.

Heartbreak for Zim. They deserved to win after Raza's brilliant innings.

We talk about winning tournaments with our second string team but here we are struggling against Zim of all teams. :facepalm :inti

IND 289/8 (50)

ZIM 276 (49.3)

India won by 13 runs

Sikandar Raza's valiant knock of 115 failed to take Zimbabwe home as India edged past them by 13 runs in the third and final ODI at the Harare Sports Club on Monday to clean sweep the series 3-0. The match went down to the wire, courtesy Raza's splendid knock but India held their nerves well to end up on the winning side. Earlier, Shubman Gill led from the front with his 130-run knock as India posted 289 for 8 in 50 overs. Shubman Gill showed great composure and he built his innings with great pace. He started off, rotating the strike and then Gill started to cash in, hitting regular boundaries. Shubman Gill's innings was the main reason that India managed to post a total of more than the 280-run mark. In his innings, Shubman Gill hit 15 fours and one six. ishan Kishan was the second-best scorer for Team India with 50 runs to his credit.

For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans returned a five-wicket haul (5 for 54) while Victor Nyauchi and Luke Jongwe claimed a wicket each. Earlier, KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bat first. Deepak Chahar returned for the final game, while Avesh Khan also got included in the playing XI. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna made way for the duo

Top performances from Gill and Raza for their respective teams.

Gill now has two back to back player of series performance in ODIs. Surely, he should be seen as competitor for that one spot in top 3. He is a very free flowing batsman.

The avg ability of these bowlers os exposed. This performance against Zimbabwe on a not so easy pitch proves how they will perform against good teams on true wickets.

Chahar is useless without swing and Thakur is as avg as they come.
Prasidh has regressed in last 2 years.

India needs to look for a new crop. Its utterly disappointing that selectors didn't give newer players like Umran or Tyagi or Mohsin or Kuldeep chances.

This is over reaction of highest order. In the 3 games played in Zimbabwe the last game was the only time Zimbabwe came close. The same bowling attack dismissed the hosts under 200 in the first 2 games. Umran, Tyagi et all have hardly played any domestic games and their record in domestic cricket in all formats is horrendous. On what basis would they select them? India have already selected Arshdeep Singh ahead of Chahar, Thakur etc. Umran Malik played 3 T20I games for India already with an economy rate of 12.44. He has played one List A game and he went for 100 in that game.

These guys are young and need to bowl a lot more in domestic cricket. Bumrah got his chances after 3 IPL seasons and doing well in those. He did not play his first Test until after he was successful in other formats for about 2 years. Bumrah at least had 20 odd FC games under his belt before getting picked for the national side, none of the bowlers you mentioned have even played 10. Kuldeep yes I agree that he needs chances but India already have Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad and Kuldeep has hardly played T20 games for India over the past 2 years.

Since Virat Kohli is not going anywhere, India needs to get Gill to open with Rohit and push KL Rahul to the middle order. Rahul was doing so well in that space after the 2019 WC, not sure why that changed. Rahul's highest average in ODIs is at number 5 (56) and at a SR of 113. He needs to get back to that spot in ODIs allowing Gill to bat at the top.

In both the matches India bowled first and got the advantage of the bowling conditions. The moment the bowl didn't move, Thakur Chahar and co. got exposed.

So Bumrah being kept out of the team and Mohit Sharma playing was a good selection decision? Bumrah is 28 and has played only 30 tests. Thats a great selection policy as per you.

He should have played atleast a year and half earlier. Indian selectors have no vision and are stuck in 80s and 90s. The present selection of trundlers who can bat shows that mentality. We have had jokers as selectors. They keep selecting TTFs.

Coming to Umran, both the T20s where he played, both teams scored nearly 200 and all bowlers were expensive.

Prasidh Krishna cannot get wickets in the IPL, is expensive, why is he selected?

You travel to Zimbabwe and take a bowling attack of 29-30 year olds. Really?

Umran and Mohsin both bowled far better than Thakur or Prasidh in the IPL. Yet thakur keeps playing. Prasidh keeps getting chances. Why?

Prasidh is from Karnataka
Thakur is from Mumbai
Axar is from Gujarat

Go figure why they are playing.

Pakistan are a better team in t20s no question about it.
