Shoaib is going to collapse any second, by the look on his face and how he's running in.
 
We always lose the 1st match off ODI series. I'm sure we are going to come back, this tour has JUST started.

well this match is gone now. thats why i hope we can give a strong performance the next match.
 
I always knew that Malik's captaincy will be exposed and found out in India. Realistically Pakistan have had only two great Captains. The Oxford educated Imran Khan and Javed Miandad whose brain worked like a PhD in Cricket. Apart from those we always have had mediocre Captains maybe leaving aside Wasim Akram.

Rehman should not play anymore matches. Would have said the same thing for Akmal, but we dont have a reserve keeper right now

I want somebody to make me understand why cant we ever just go in with four effing fast bowlers?! When you have a more than decent spinner in Afridi why do you want to have a pedestrian like Rehman in the team. Team selection baffles me sometimes
 
Shoaib trying his very best, the strain is telling on his face.

He's bowled very well today, his figures don't tell the whole story. With that being said, I still maintain that he is still not match fit.
 
Ian Gould had a poor game as umpire - another one hitting the stumps not given.
 
I think that should have been given, poor decision..
 
why are we not appealing for these clear nicks ??

does kamran need a hearing aid along with glasses ?
 
We deserve to loose.. our fielding has been poor and has cost us the game.. ok we were 30 odd runs short but with the chances we had and wickets we took it should and could have just aobut been enough !

i am not watching the match but what is Malik supposed to do when your fielders are dropping catches right and left?
 
The commentators have lost it.. that was absolutely NOT a good decision, should have been given out.

And a lucky 4 for Pathan but considering our luck today, I'm not even surprised.

Pak v Ind series tend to have the 'lower tier' umpires.
 
yes i found the umpiring favouring india a bit. umpire also missed akmals wicket. it pitched outside leg.

I think Mic is amplifying some click sounds. They were not exactly edges that's why nobody appeals. If you are on the ground you won't listen to the amplified spurious signals.
 
India have had all the luck today

Many streaky shots and inside edges to fine leg.

Plus a 2 or 3 dodgy decisions in their favour too.
 
Uthappa playing and missing a lot.. how the hell did that miss the stumps??

Well played India. Deserved winners today.

Pakistan just never got going in this match. I think we were about 20 runs short and that added to the typical dropped catches, Indian play and misses, Indian insdie edges down to fine leg.......there was only ever going to be one winner.

Bring on the next game.
 
Thats it, India win by 5 wickets. Uthappa gets an edge down to third-man for a boundary. Totally outplayed us today

As for Pakistan, Allah bachai. Nothing more to say

Inhibited gameplay by Pak players in the first 25 overs or so, gave the match on a platter to India. Still some big positives can be taken away from this game, not the least the return of Salman Butt who played with such fluency, Yousuf's sustained rich vein of form, Afridi's decent approach and Akhtar's attempt to resuscitate team's fortunes as he gave his heart out bowling ultra-fast on an unhelpful pitch.
 
Only 2 people to blame:

Kamran Akmal (3 dropped catches is just disgraceful)
Younis Khan (Mr VC was in pure test match mode and put the pressure on Yousaf and Malik to score quickly)
 
Pakistan last India tour, They loose first 2 games & then win 4 games in row & win the series.

I want to see India Play better than today! good luck for Pakistan for next game!
 
Shoaib Akhter should be MOM.

Bowled brilliantly in absolutely dead conditions.

He easily could have 3-4 wickets if it wasn't for those drops.
 
We lost because of the 30 or so runs scored off 13 overs by Younis and Moyo. Similar thing happened in the 2007 WC against West Indies. We just come to a halt.
 
These subcontinental match presentations are embarrasing! 'Award for hitting xyz' etc
 
Positives- Salman Butt, Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar.

Negatives- Kamran Akmal, Kamran Akmal and Kamran Akmal.


Still a long way to go in this series. Next game is crucial for us though...will be difficult for us to repeat the heriocs of 2005 if we go 2-0 down.

Shoaib made some errors today......he persisted with Abdur Rehman for far too long. Even when it was clear he was useless. And he should have brought Gul on around the 38th over. Plus his field placements were too defensive. LEARN Malik saab. That is the important thing. Mistakes are going to be made in this early stage of his captaincy..its only if he doesn't learn from them that it becomes a criminal act.

We have ourselves to blame for this defeat though India had all the luck with play and misses and inside edges. Not to mention the umpiring decisions. The leniancy which was shown to Indian bowlers with regards to wides was not extended to our lads. 2 or 3 LBWs were not given. And this only added to our misery.
 
I think we need to review the batting order. Afridi needs to open, we dont have enough firepower in the early part of our innings, Afridi unless he cant curb his instincts and bat according to the field placings and situation cannot be effective down the order given the way he plays (trying to blindly hit every ball for six, hes better as an opener in tht case).

Our bowling attack needs more power, perhaps another 90 mph bowler was necessary, Shoaib has too much to do. Maliks captaincy if i am hearing the truth was extremely poor and i am beggining to worry whether he has what it takes to do the job. I am actualy wondering, why dont we put Misbah up the order at no 3 because he does take time to get going but once he does he is unstoppable. YK can come later on and nudge around, he can be a better finisher. Either Akmal or Butt can come down the order.

We definately need to adopt a more attacking approach, but i think Indias strong batting line up is going to tell on us. It was always going to be our bowling vs their batting. We should atleast fight and try to make them fight for their wins atleast if not win the match alone. I just dont see that element in Maliks captaincy, he has to be blamed for the lack lustre performances of the team in the past couple of months.
 
Biggest negative of all was Malik's disgusting captaincy .. he gave up pretty much after the first few overs.

Regarding YK .. he had a bad day ... he'll be back to his usual form next match.

And Akmal - another nail in his coffin today ... can't be much longer before he is sacked.

Positives - Indian fast bowling is still crap :)) :)) :))
 
kashif- I have had enough of Akmal. I am sick and tired of him. I was patient with him throughout since the England tour. But there is only so much patience one can show.

A real tragedy because he could have been such a great player for us. And he still can....but I think he needs a year or so out of the Pakistan team. We should send him to England, South Africa and Australia where he can keep in those conditions.
