I think it should be a very good series............ especially if its 2-0 to South Africa LOL

Looks like a sporting wicket ;-)

Well we thought Pakistani were getting impatient with creating the match threads so early.

Thanks for making me feel better.

It will be even earlier tomorrow if India get a good start on the 1st day :wasim

Alot of pressure on Sachin, sehwag and GG as rest of batting maybe very in experienced at this level.

Interesting Stats

No wonder these teams are duking it out for top two positions..

◦Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag, at 2778 runs, are 233 short of becoming India's most prolific opening partnership. Sunil Gavaskar and Chetan Chauhan hold the record.
(Imagine where we stand in terms of openers)

◦Since Yuvraj Singh in 2003, no Indian has made a debut in the middle order. Badri will be the first.
(This is called consistency in selection and performance)

I hope it would be a cracker of a series. Winner will take no. 1 slot in the test ranking. A lot at stake in this series.

Indian selectors have made some big mistakes as well like persisting with wasim jaffer and khartik ahead of sehwag and gambhir for a period of time. infact playing yuvi and jaffer ahead of sehwag in one test match in australia and picking jaffer ahead of gambhir seriously hurt india in that test series despite gambhirs playing style being more of a fit for those conditions.

Badrinath was like in form of his life couple of years back. But i guess he is not that bad right now

Should be a cracking encounter.

I am anticipating a high scoring thriller.

1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 M Vijay, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 VVS Laxman, 6 S Badrinath, 7 MS Dhoni (capt/wk), 8, Harbhajan Singh, 9 Zaheer Khan, 10 Amit Mishra/Pragyan Ojha, 11 Ishant Sharma.

Bring it on!! Where is Saffer? I am sure he will make an appearance tomorrow if we are not doing very well

india should go with 3 pacers , 1 spinner and they have part time spinners like sehwaq and sachin .

india deserve to win under dhoni .

This will be an interesting series, however if SA are to do well then Kallis, Smith and Amla will need to have a decent run with the bat in negoitating the spin as the rest of the line up is as confused against spin as Pak are with their captains.

Steyns pace will cause problems to the batting line up, I will be interested in seeing how Dads Army fairs in their old age!!

Indian team about to go into Sri Lanka/Bangladesh withdrawal syndrome.

Symptoms may include - stumps being shattered by yorkers, helmets being hit by bouncers, batting collapses and effigies of so called #1 team being burnt :p

Tumbleweed rolls by.................... :)))

Best of luck to everyone involved in this game except the Indians.

RA can you email me any live streaming links if you have any ????????? ASAP

How lucky this Saha guy is ? It was a good chance for India to field 5 bowlers but they still choose a guy to bat at no. 7, who averages 30 something in domestic cricket. Great selection! :14:

Prince is gone!!!

What an embarrassment to be bounced out by zaheer!!!!

This is what happens if you select guys based on colour and not merit!!

Another fine example of why the review system is needed. Prince given out caught off the arm guard.

That was off the armguard. Prince walked over to Smith but had to go as he was told referral system is not being used. WHY?

Bad decision - hit the arm guard. *SIGH*

India have to be the biggest hypocrites. They whinge about umpire decisions unfairly influencing the game. UDRS is introduced, and then they lose in Sri Lanka because UDRS reverses unfair decisions that this time would have gone in their favor. And now UDRS is bad again.

I really hope whatever happens, that the outcome is fair. This leaves such a bad taste in the mouth.

everyone expected RSA pacers to be all over indian batsman...
but lol, SA being SA the situation has reversed

Music blasting through the PA in between overs to entertain all 15 spectators at the ground.

The Big fish Smith is out! No doubt about that one, clean bowled!

Kind of hard for their bowlers to perform when they're batting first up. ::J

Oh good as long as it leaves some bad taste in your mouth I am happy :D...

From Cric Buzz :

Smith is Zaheer's bunny for sure. He had dismissed him 6 times on India's tour to SA in 2006 and now gets him here with a peach of a delivery.

SA alreadly regretting that they agreed to not allow the URDS system for this series. Agreed their are some flaws with it but its much better than nothing.

I was just thinking the same.

If it were Sehwag and given a decision like prince then what would have been the taste of his mouth? ;-)

Bad decision aside, good stuff from India so far. Zaheer's bowling really well. He'll be looking to get Kallis in this spell and that'll really set the innings up nicely for them.

Pitch looks really slow. Dhoni's gathering everything near his ankles.

Some one told me that ESPN or some one is showing these maches online alive in US ? Can some oen confirm this ?

ESPN360 showed Bang/Ind recently and they're advertising Bang/Eng. Haven't heard anything about this series.

Great play by india so far, deserve to win if they keep playing like that.

India on toes right now! what a plan to run out non-strikers ...

Damn Kallis is starting to settle need to get him out...

Good thing for India is all 4 bowling well....zak is at his best...ishant will come in when it reverses

Why is there no referral system?

I think it still depends upon the two captains before the start of series whether they want to use it or not. BCCI is not inclined to use it. South Africa has mixed feelings, so i think BCCI's word sounded heavier!

Its not T20 so be lucky besides the last few hours of the test to have more than 15 at the ground at one time. More than likely 14 of those are food sellers with nothing to do and the 15th got the date wrong for the next T20 match!

Exactly, though with all the music blaring you might be inclined to think that you are in fact at a T20.

Man, Kallis is putting on a batting master class this last hour.

wow, the stadium really lookes packed!!! afterall, india is the no. 1 test team in the WORLD.

Lunch. South Africa 90/2. That's a pretty good recovery from 6/2.

Most of the top Indian batsmen have been injured.

How is sachin still uninjured, hows he holding up so well?

Australia has the "boxing day" test on boxing day, maybe India could have the "girly slap" test on there new national holiday of the same name and then they might draw the crowds to test matches! :)))

Yes its just a joke. No need for prople to get agro! :)))

Even funnier when you consider India has over 1 billion people and little Australia has only 24 million! :)))
India has more than 42 times the amount of people that can go!
Even to the T20 last night that had over 60k people go, to be the same India need to have over 250,000 people go. Yes but India are the biggest cricket lovers in the world! :)))

I got what you said, but pointing out obsivasions. There is nothing personial in it either as its a generalized observation.

I am about 21 years past homework and over 15 years from finishing my degree, but in life you never really stop studying.
