After 9 hours of Load-Shedding, just switched on the TV to watch the game. It seems SL batters have pummeled our bowlers to the core. Good to see Vinay and Mishra getting a game. IMHO, Vinay can be a slightly better option than Irfan on good batting tracks.

Don't think Praveen Kumar's great, but if it does support swing he's useful. Would have had him in the squad just in case, given the strength of the current squad atm. Still I agree probably not an important selection.

I refuse to believe there aren't some guys in domestic currently dominating that wouldn't fare better than Ishant or Vinay. And there is no harm giving new guys a try. That's how you got B Kumar. With Ishant/Vinay, perhaps even Irfan (not sure he's got back to what he used to be, though he's done decent in the games recently in terms of figures) batsmen know what they're gonna get and will look to smash them. There is no point. Better at least have someone who the batsmen aren't used to and will be a bit more of a mystery to them. You've got nothing to lose there.

Perera is the key. He has a couple of 5-fers against India IIRC. Malinga has been neutralized. He might get the sporadic bursts of three-fer or something but he gets caned by Kohli for fun. Kulasekara is another who is not very effective against India.
