Cricinfo reports that it's overcast condition in Mirpur with some drizzle at the moment.

If these conditions persists, Toss could decide tonight's game.

Chasing should be somewhat easy in rain affected games.

6.15 pm More bad news. It sounds as though Mirpur has been hit by a tempest. "A dust storm has hit the ground, and its impact has sent everyone into a frenzy," says Alagappan Muthu from the ground. "The groundstaff have been caught unawares, they're now hustling to pull the covers on. The spectators were panicking and running for cover. Lightning around, the drizzle has picked up. At present, it does not look good at all.

"There is so much wind that the covers are flapping about merrily. Banners are being ripped off their stations and floating about."
And Mohammad Isam also weighs in from the venue: "They can't keep the covers on ... high winds, and things are coming off, massive rain."

The BCCI sent the dust storm Dhaka's way as they know Bangles would win otherwise. :batman:
 
I've to say Bangladesh is quite unlucky. Bd could have won it easily but now they'll have to share the title with India. Really really sad

Yes, because pitch will help Nehra and Bumrah. As far i know BD were thinking to prepare a flat wicket, but conditions will help bowlers now i guess, and i am backing India that's why.

The BCCI are so powerful now they can even manipulate the climate !

Its a shame the lights didn't go out when Pakistan were playing, I heard Khurram Manzoor is a better batsman when nobody can see him.

I actually miss the hilarious commentary from the other day where Russel Arnold was about to talk about Pakistan's chances of winning which increased drastically and led everyone to laugh really hard.
 
Hopefully the storm isn't going to stay for too long. It's called kalbaishakhi. Mirpur ground has a good drainage system, so I don't think the match will be washed out.
 
An extra day should have been there. This storm is depriving us all fans of drubbing India would hand to the Bangladesh boys.

I've always loved his batting and I consider him as one of the greatest batsmen in the game of cricket.

That one was getting old. I m looking for a new image of dada and if I can find a good one he'llhe'll definitely go back to his usual place :)

No matter how good Bangladesh team can get - I just can't digest or support them

Is there anyone from Mirpur or Dhaka here that can provide an update? Accuweather says rain should've stopped by now. There should've been a reserve day for the final.

So even when the rain stops and with a good drainage facility I'm guessing the field would take atleast 30-40 minutes to dry up?
I think we might have a 15 over game if the rain stops in about 10-15 minutes
 
We should stop playing cricket in Bangladesh. I remember last time we ended up "drawing" a test match there because of rain :facepalm:

The 20 over format is itself a farce of the 50 over match. So why not trim it down further. It would a farce if one team got 6 overs and the other 4.

They should. We were the most dominant team in the group stage. Just lost a match to India due to bad luck. We deserve it. :)

I have never Enjoyed Any tournament in Bangladesh Dont Know Why. I always liked it in England, SA even India is a better Host.

Yeah I agree 20 overs or nothing. If it was a league game it would still be ok but 5 overs is unworthy of a final. We play more overs than that in gully cricket :))

Well, the lights are back, the groundstaff are doing their thing, and so is the drainage. Most of the water has disappeared and we might not lose many overs, if at all.
 
So Bangladesh's World T20 warm-up matches got cancelled as Bangladesh made the final of the Asia Cup something the ICC or the BCCI did not even consider a possibility. Now Bangladesh will play their first World T20 match three days from now without any warm-up matches in a ground they've never played in before. What a joke ICC and BCCI is.
