If shami bowls at death we will concede 150 in last 10 overs and lose the match

Bhai, it’s New Zealand we’ll be playing against, not Afghanistan. People are reacting as if us winning it is a lock.

NZ are a desperately hopeless team right now.

They will be meat and drink for this Indian team.

Early congratulations to Indian fans for getting in the Final.

India will win this game comfortably. Kane Williamson wont be enough to stop India.

On paper a one-sided encounter with New Zealand looking a team short on confidence.

New Zealand are essentially banking on Trent Boult to run through India's batting line-up. If this doesn't happen, I can't see anything other than a NZ win.

India v Pakistan would have been a more enthralling semi-final encounter, even though India would have been hot favourites to win that as well. I just don't think NZ has any chance to compete having seen the way they've played in the group stages. All their wins have come against teams who've finished from 6th to 10th.

This semi-final will prove NZ were lucky to have their rained off game (in the group stage) against India, whilst Pakistan were unlucky to have their game against Sri Lanka washed out, as it's fair to say they would have won this 70%-80% of the time.

Overall, I think an in-form Pakistan team would have caused more problems, even thought they probably would have fallen short of winning this game.

India win*

Doesn't take much for one player to play a blinder ( thinking Guptill or Taylor) or Boult to get a couple of early strikes
Come on NZ

It will be overcast and raining in Manchester.

Write off Boult & co in overcast conditions are your own peril.

The weather doesn't look good for Tuesday but for Wednesday it looks fine. Wouldn't be shocked if this game was played on the reserve day. But to be fair forecasts can change the day before even.

I feel that NZ would be more comfortable facing India than facing Australia. It is because NZ always has a mental block against Australia during big tournaments.

Neither Kohli nor Rohit have good record in ICC knockouts...so should be an easy win for NZ

Rooting for an Indian embarrassment but obviously they are firm favorites to make their way into the final.

Won’t be easy at all. I would have preferred England because their bowling attack isn’t that good. Against NZ India will have to be very very careful.

It won't be THAT easy for India. If NZ's batting clicks, their bowling will be well supported. Ferguson and Boult are both world class.

I hope New Zealand play their best two games in the semis and Final similar to what Pakistan did in 1992...but it is not going to be easy against a well oiled India. New Zealand or England are my two teams to lift the cup.

India favourites obviously, but NZ have played well below their best this tournament, and who knows if they come right at the right time. Especially since everyone is viewing them as underdogs, they might just relax and free up, they will be under far less pressure and expectation than India.

Grey, cloudy weather too, India have fallen over to NZ a couple of times in the last 12 months when the conditions have been good for seam bowling, even though the have beaten NZ on flat wickets. I would not being writing off NZ, and would also say NZ have a better chance of beating India, than Pakistan would if they were the 4th side. NZ's style is more likely to upset India, than Pakistan's style.

I reluctantly agree

Im sorry i have no sympathies for ind after the performance against eng. I believe in karma weathers already looking grim. :))

Only chance NZ have is to bat first and score over 300 putting India under pressure. If not India batting first will bat NZ out of the contest. India have far better a chance of chasing well, NZ doing so will collapse like they always do.

Would be hilarious if we play our best game in the Semi and somehow make the Final.

Former table toppers with minnow mentality going into a WC semi-final :))
Think like a champion if u feel u deserve to win WC at least :D

Pakistan were a side on the upswing with 4 consecutive wins while NZ look like lost sheep losing 3 consecutive matches against half decent opponents, they barely won against the bottom half anyway.

In the knock out phases of a tournament, momentum and form really matter and Pakistan could've given India a better run for their money.

With all due respect to Pak, the 4 teams you beat at the end weren't that great. SA got beaten by most teams, NZ was beaten by all good teams, Afg was a tight game and BD is a mid table team. Pak beat Eng at the beginning and that is the only win that's worthy of bragging. Aus, Ind and Eng are different beasts and rightly belong in a different league. It would have been awesome if Pak was the 4th team but don't flatter yourself by comparing to the other three. All three teams would have fought to get the Pak semi like they did with NZ. The gulf between top 3 and the next 5 is huge.

Remember you saying the same thing in Ind vs NZ series in NZ. You wanted to laugh then too but....

It will be easier than facing England in their fortress where they beat India hard a week ago.

It will be a pie eating content for India, they will easily beat New Zealand who are all about Kane and Ross. Rest of the team are invisible barring Neesham if he has a good day out.

Easy route for India to get to the finals to face England who will topple them over to lift the trophy, its been Englands world cup to lose since the very beginning.

Whoever bats first wins like the pattern of this world cup

Don't under-estimate India's chasing ability. Only reason i don't back them 100% fully is because of Dhawan's absence. Now that Rahul is batting well, chasing ability is somewhat back on. India has amazing chasers in their side.

If lockie ferguson is fit and plays the semis, i predict HUGE problems for india!
Only guy who can play him will be sharma, but his going to have HUGE problem with boult!

My prediction is a New Zealand win!

Absolutely ironic if this happens, considering india's contribution to paks elimination from this wc!
Considering india could have been playing pak in this round, and would of most likely of won, to take the streak to 8 - 0!

NZ have been the luckiest team in this tournament and as the adage goes :-
Its better to be luckythan good!

India played Ferguson in NZ. Even Vijay Shankar, Rayudu played him well. He played in the IPL and he was dropped by Dinesh Karthik after a few games. Boult is their only threat.

Losing to Eng would've been expected. Now, losing to a NZ on low confidence would be a travesty, embarrassment etc. Law of averages could come handy for NZ Aman

Lets hope we play sensible cricket with prefessioanlism bc all i see is alot of jinixing in this thread. May god saves india from bad eyes

I would love this game to be rain affected(not a washout!) and india getting knocked out due DLS!
Then see the indian fans cry over DLS after they have been trolling about nrr .

I predicted it well before aus vs sa result. OK, I think Nz have chances if the weather is cloudy, remember the 4th odi, I think, in nz series when India struggled to get to 150 or so...on the positive note, kohli, pant, kedar jadhav are due for a decent score wrt to their batting abilities. Dhoni, I don't expect also.

On a second thought, if cloudy include shankar drop jadhav.

If india lose, watch them cry about dhawans absence due to injury!

They have done fabulously well in his absence. Beating all sides except one side. Nobody is going to be disappointed with their performance regardless of what happens. It was a proud campaign by them.

I think Indians smashed Lockie in NZ. They like pace.

True. SF and finals are one off games and the team that plays well on that day will win. India showed why they are the best team in the world by topping the group. Great going.

I think NZ should bat first and score 320-340. With the bowling attack NZ have, they can defend it.

No way NZ can bat vs bumrah and kulcha

Only chance for NZ is boult and ferguson damage India top order

All 3 have been mediocre this world cup!
I would say all 3 are over rated by indians!
Shami is the dangerman!

Bumrah is the third highest wicket taker so far with 17 wickets from 8 matches and an economy of 4.48. How is that mediocre?

Seriously expect alot of crying on here, if india lose, especially if its due to dls result!

If it were semi-final, Pakistan would've beaten India probably. India would've been under pressure.

Same case with Bangladesh aswell! bcoz whenever India face these two teams, They'll be under huge pressure!
