Time to play smart now, put the shots away and consolidate for the next few overs.

It wasn't out.

True but most will give it out when u miss like that .

Most umpires will not really expect the ball to miss the stumps in Indian conditions (regardless what Hawkeye says).U cant miss it like that against spinners in indian conditions. There will be few more decisions like that throughout the tournament .

Dharmasena already man of the match..

NZ is playing out-dated T20 approach.
Singles and ground shots are more important.

They are trying to impose themselves on the game. Would have even worked if Indian weren't handed an easy favour by the umpires once again

So pak players be like this what happens when you play fast in first few overs.

This reminds of the ways SA batted against Aussies in 2007 WC semi final.Seems like in the name of taking attack to Indian bowlers they are losing it badly

One more Tula in, he might be bit matured by now

Where has the bounce gone lol? Ball barely getting knee roll high.

India benefitting from umpiring errors already and a full over hasn't been bowled in the tournament yet. Why would BCCI want DRS?

Kiwis had a target of 200 in mind before they even came out to bat. Now, they'll be lucky to get to 160.

Rohit and Kohli giving nightmares to NZ batsman, score more than they can chase

Lols what are the kiwis doing? Is it stupidity or preassure?

These two need to score a big partnership.

The likes of Elliot Ronchi etc will struggle badly against Jadeja and co in the middle overs otherwise

Atleast they have some runs. We take 4-5 overs to reach 14

No DRS in T20s.

The burn on here is high. Its the opening game of a tournament. We have a while to go yet...calm down.

I don't want Nz to fold for 130-140, give India a challenge.
India will stroll their way to an easy win if the target is 140 with kohli playing his typical 50 (40) type innings.

Kiwis aren't running quick enough hope they calm their nerves and get back to their game.

India needs to get KW early. If he gets set then he can murder the Indian spinners

Btw ground atmosphere is electric !!
India is awesome destination to hold ICC events.

Nehraji has made a massive impact since his combak.Has taken atleast one wicket in powerplay overs in every match since his comeback

First tape ball and now test match for NZ...

NZ is only good in seaming condition. Apart from Pakistan they will loose to Australia due to their batting, India spin & batting , Bangladesh spin. If we had 2 proper spinners and 2 batsmen we would have won against them as well.

Everyone thought Guptill was plumb.

Even cricinfo.

Only later on, it turned out it was not out.

Ashwin to Guptill, OUT, Ashwin hits back and how! LBW! Guptill eschews the straight bat and tries to sweep this time, the ball from Ashwin is straight and the newness of it makes it skid straight on, umpire Dharmasena takes a while but eventually raises the finger. That looked pretty close, unless he got his pad outside the line of off stump. Will confirm. That hit the backfoot and was plumb. Whoops, on second look that was high, replays indicate it was going over the top of the stumps.

----

NZ could have been in a worse position if not for seam up gifts by Ashwin.

Cmon let's do it.

I would pay good money to sit and watch Sharjeel Khan take Nehra apart. So frustrating to see a 36 year-old trundler bowling so well. :yk

Just joking, he's a decent guy and it's nice that he's found some form at his advanced age. I have a soft spot for the 00s generation of Indian players. The first generation that gave Pakistan some competition.
