Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja to bear educational expenses of Pakistani boy

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has offered to bear all educational expenses of a Pakistani boy, who met him in Islamabad while he was on way to PTV headquarters for Asia Cup 2016 transmission.

According to media reports, Jadeja came across the boy while the former was cleaning cars in a street close to cricketer’s hotel. After a small talk with the boy and his mother, Jadeja took them to a nearby restaurant and shared meal with them.

Afterwards Jadeja also offered the boy’s mother to sponsor her kid’s education, so that he would not need to work anymore.

When asked to comment about the incident, the Indian cricketer said that it was my daughter’s birthday and I celebrated it in a great way.

Great gesture by Ajay. I am his fan after watching him on PTV, he is so calm and composed.

Met him many years ago when he played club cricket in the UK.

A jovial and interesting character.

Incredible gesture, not many who would do this. May he get just reward for his kindness.

Fantastic gesture well done all is forgiven for the 96 wc [emoji14]

Seems like a PR stunt and also a gimmick to show that Indians are better humans than Pakistanis and that he's trying "help out" a "poor Pakistani child".

Appreciate the gesture but I know what's up

No one knows about his intentions except himself.

Even gestures as small as they may be have an effect.

This is something each one of us, especially those settled abroad could do. If we just bear the educational expense of a student in our home countries (India or Pakistan) it would make a huge dent in our illiteracy figures.

The cost of educating a child (in India), at an average it costs around £50 a year in primary school and £100 a year in secondary school. There are various charities in India and Pakistan that are working towards this cause.

Also remember, when you educate a boy, he goes and gets a job, when you educate a girl, she educates the whole family.

tu rehne de.

Even if this 'PR stunt' improves the life of one kid, its something we need to respect. Lets look at it from the kid's perspective than our biased ones.

Lol
If every Pakistani go ahead and sponsor a "poor Indian child" even if Their intention is to show that they are better humans than Indians, whole of India would whole heartedly support Pakistan and give blessings

This was brought up by the Doc character on the PTV show after the Asia Cup final and Ajay seemed reticent to go into the details.

Good on him for finding charitable ways to spread the money he accrued :ksi from the game.

Have said before this guy is one of my few fav Indian cricketers. Had his own personality and swag as a player, decent personality and a good human who has changed. :amla

Jadeja is one of the coolest cricketers. I remember long ago there was a friendly between Indian and Pakistani cricketers in Patiala.. Somebody from the crowd threw chappal towards the players. Later on Jadeja came with the chappal in his hand to politely return to whoever had thrown it. Was a Gandhian slap to the monkey who had done this. Think of that gesture and think of what Kohli would have done there.

Google life and try to have it.

Aap kar de sponsor kisi ghareeb bacche ko sir, and i will appreciate it even if you do it for publicity stunt.

Pakistani's will go gaga over this yet will continue referring to Malala as a traitor and a western agent.

Before the occurrence of this event, I found his analysis and in general, his way of talking quite fascinating. He along with Saqlain had added life to the sports show on PTV sports.

If PR stunts could do this, I will pray that more people do these stunts.

I myself providing expanse for two kids to go to school. I don't know how long I'll be able to do it as I don't earn much but I'll try as long as I could. I know their dad(works in my office as toilet cleaner) and he earns $50 per month....

And nope, I don't do it to show myself better. I do it to change something however small it may be. No body knows about it except him and his wife.

And I could tell here because nobody knows my identity here.

That's really nice of you. I wish more and more people would do this.

Even if this is a PR stunt a kid will get education and a better life and that's what's important

I agree, really impressed by his mannerism and expert analysis. Sampson was also very good... There insight about the game was worth watching. You can also see that Pakistani understand bowling well where as Indian understand batting much better... It's not a superficial thing, it's really a culture aspect of both countries cricketing heritage.

Host is very annoying, they need to have better host...

It might not be a PR stunt, maybe a nice personal gesture, let's give him the benefit of the doubt. The jingo bingo media point scoring on the other hand is deplorable. A nation that can't play cricket series against the same Pakistan is using children for self promoting propaganda. Cheap but no surprise.

Isn't he the same guy who was banned for match-fixing? And now he is on the PTV Sports panel?

PTV Sports has no morality, they know nothing of ethics which is why they have no qualms hiring criminals like jadeja

Nobody in the article attributed the generosity to Indians, but to Jadeja personally. So, how does a country not playing cricket relate to an individual doing charity on his personal discretion?

Even if it is a showoff, the process is helping a poor kid get education.

I wish everyone is a showoff. Illiteracy will be eradicated.

If it's a personal charity, I have already applauded it at that level in my first post on the thread. All I did after that was to say that his fellow nationals shouldn't use a personal charitable deed to score nationalistic points for propaganda purposes. What is wrong with that statement? For some reason that qualification seems to have hit a nerve for some people even though I never mentioned that it was the case in this thread or any individuals who have posted so far.

If a guy banned for spot fixing can play cricket again then what is wrong with him being on ptv :amir
Only Pakistani s can fix and are allowed to play. He is an Indian. Even though he was only alleged, it prohibits him from even commenting.

.... For the same reason. He isn't a Pakistani.

Hands down he has been the best addition to Game On Hai so far. He gelled really well with Dr. Nauman, Saqlain and Rashid. Hope to see him once again in future.

There is always one guy who has to spread negativity even on a thread like this.

I was so impressed with Jadeja on the show on PTV Sports. His analysis is top-notch and his Urdu ka lehja is also very attractive. If he did not have a tainted past I would have loved for him to be our batting coach, seems like he does not have much of a problem coming to Pakistan either.

you know what's cheap is having to look at everything through the petty lens of nationalism.

hoping one day you grow enough brain cells to look at things as more than just india vs pakistan.

That is just the nature of this forum. I discuss other topics elsewhere where ideological propaganda isn't a major issue. You should really have contributed to Rushdie's ex-wife thread to show some understanding of the dynamics of world events.

Good gesture shown by Ajay Jadeja. Hopefully nationalistic and over patriotic indians won't throw ink on his face for helping a boy from a rival/enemy country. And lol at those posters who leave no opportunity to diss Pakistan here praising Ajay Jadeja and talking about humanity. For you guys he is just another brown noser. :misbah

Learn some humanity from ajay jadeja, your hate can't be bigger than that. :inti

As always, usual suspects in the thread using this news story of goodwill for personal agendas again

Rightly said yaara. It is those who would never do such a thing, who are the first to demand gratitude from the other side, riding on the good deeds of others. They just seek to promote their own politics using the good deeds of others.

If you question popular narrative, you are not Indian anymore. I hate it people have to prove their Indian-ness just because they don't agree on something. I guess something don't change. I admire his gesture. Whether India accepts him as Indian or not, his contribution on humanitarian ground should be appreciated.

It's another way of saying, "I tick Indians off by debunking their BS and exposing their agendas". :misbah

Also, another way of saying, "I confuse Pakistanis for being Indian as soon as they disagree with my childish, jingoistic rubbish"

Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja was fined INR 5,000 for dumping garbage in a Goa village which neighbors the village in which he owns a bungalow. He owns a picturesque property in Aldona village in North Goa, which is home to various celebrities including writer Amitav Ghosh.

Ajay Jadeja was once one of the most celebrated ODI cricketers in the world, though his Test career didn’t reach the heights to which his 50-over career did. He played domestic cricket for Haryana and made his India Test debut in 1992 against South Africa in Durban and his ODI debut against Sri Lanka the same year in the 1992 World Cup.

He played 15 Tests, making 576 runs with a best of 96, and in 196 ODIs, he made 5359 runs with a best of 119, with 6 centuries and 30 half-centuries, and was one of the best finishers India had prior to the T20 boom. He also picked 20 ODI wickets with his handy medium pace with a best of 3/3. His most memorable knock is 45 runs against Pakistan in the quarterfinal of the 1996 World Cup in Bangalore, during which he had smashed 22 runs in one over from Waqar Younis.

It has been reported that Ajay Jadeja had been dumping garbage from his bungalow in Aldona village in North Goa, into the neighboring village of Nachinola, which was also confirmed by the sarpanch of the village, Trupti Bandodkar, on Monday.

“We are plagued by the garbage issue in our village. The garbage from outside is also dumped in the village, so we appointed some youth to collect the garbage bags and scan them for any proof to identify the culprits,” the sarpanch said.

The sarpanch also mentioned that Ajay Jadeja paid the fine without an issue.

“We found a bill in the name of Ajay Jadeja in some bags of garbage. When we informed him not to dump the garbage in the village in the future, he said he was willing to pay the fine. So he paid it. We are proud that such a celebrity, a popular cricket player, stays in our village, but such people should follow the garbage norms,” Bandodkar said.

I would say that he had a successful outing with Afghanistan in the recently concluded world cup. Why not add somebody like him from the sub-continent who understands the dynamics of there areas?

-------------------------------

Former India skipper Ajay Jadeja responded on the prospect of coaching the Pakistan side after the ICC World Cup:

“I am ready,”

“I shared my learnings with Afghans and I believe Pakistan were once like Afghanistan. You could say anything you wanted to in the face of your teammate,”

As long as he doesn't teach them some of the bad habits that got him banned, I guess it's ok.
The Afghans don't seem to have been too badly affected , from what I can see

Ajay Jadeja takes savage 'rare talent' dig at Hardik Pandya for all-rounder's injury struggles

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been struggling with injuries for a major part of his career. His long battle with back injury, which he had incurred in 2018, left his Test career hanging in balance. Upon return, he had restricted his bowling role in white-ball cricket which had played a crucial role in India's forgettable group-stage exit in 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE. And although he resumed his role as an all-rounder after months of rehab post that tournament, Hardik incurred an ankle injury during the ODI World Cup campaign which eventually exposed India's weakness only to be exploited by Australia in the final.

There were talks about Hardik's return to the Indian team in the knockout stages of the ODI World Cup with the all-rounder having reportedly shown positive improvements during his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. However, he was entirely ruled out from the tournament later. He later missed the five-match T20I series against Australia that ended on Sunday and has not been named in the all-format tour of South Africa as well.

Amid Hardik's struggles with injuries, former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja took a brutal dig at the all-rounder calling him a "rare talent" for being rarely seen on the field.

When the anchor called Hardik a rare talent for being a fast-bowling all-rounder, Jadeja, speaking to Sports Tak, chuckled before saying: “You did not understand the meaning. He is a rare talent and is rarely seen on the ground. It is very rare and rightly so.”

Despite his injury woes, and the uncertainty over his comeback, Hardik has managed to successfully return to his former IPL franchise Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2024 IPL season. After being released by MI in 2022, Hardik was roped in by Gujarat Titans, whom he led to back-to-back finals, while lifting the trophy in their inaugural season.

To involve him in coaching in Pakistan, first get him to PSL or at NCA as batting coach etc and see how his input is going.

Former cricketer Ajay Jadeja named heir to Jamnagar royal throne

Former cricketer Ajay Jadeja has been named the next Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, now known as Jamnagar, a princely state in Gujarat. The news was confirmed by Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar in a statement.

In a letter released on Friday, the incumbent Jam Saheb Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja stated that the festival of Dusshera is believed to mark the day the Pandavas emerged victorious from exile, and he is happy on this auspicious Dussehra day because he has found a solution to a dilemma.

"I am happy that Ajay Jadeja will be the new Jam Saheb of Nawanagar. I feel that this will be a blessing for the people of Jamnagar," Jam Saheb said.

Ajay Jadeja was one of the leading players of the Indian cricket team, serving from 1992 to 2000 and holding the position of vice-captain during his tenure. However, his cricketing career came to an abrupt halt after being implicated in a match-fixing scandal, which led to a ban from the sport.

In 2003, the Delhi High Court lifted the ban, but Jadeja did not return to playing cricket afterward. He has since mentored various IPL teams and recently coached the Afghanistan cricket team.

Very chill guy.
I was absolutely shocked and disappointed to find out about his involvement in the match fixing scandal because he was my favorite cricketer in the 1990s

Ajay Jadeja’s net worth has jumped to Rs 1400 cr + after inheriting the Jamnagar throne.

Congratulations to him.

He’s richer than Virat Kohli. :vk1
