we have covered all our bases well
except middle order. do you think india will go all the way to win world cup?
personally, i think we have no chance to win this world cup considering our middle order.
i think india will be happy with semis exit.

I always thought you were a Pakistani poster.
Yes I see semis loss as well.

I expect us to reach sf. But i think we won't be able to get pass that and reach the final. The middle order will be exposed and in a knock out stage, it will be unforgivable.

Anything less than a finals appearance will be a disappointment.

I think India is a more balanced team than England overall as an ODI unit, and hence slightly ahead as WC favorites.

Anything less than a final would be a disappointment especially with this bowling unit and top 3.

I think this team is capable of winning the World Cup if the bowlers have a great tournament all the way upto the final and make the batsmen's job easy. Either way, as long as we reach the semis, I won't be disappointed.

Any thing less than a final will be a massive underachievement simply because they have blown away everyone barring England in odis the past year and even now have outplayed a very strong new Zealand team which is one of the toughest to beat at home that too without bumrah.

Indians are favorites now. End of discussion

Semi's atlast. Rest depends on luck and form.

dhoni will score an unbeaten 80 off 130 deliveries chasing 300 and india will loose by 50 runs .
shastri will pat kohlis back for reaching the semis
india will dump all the express bowlers for giving away 300 on a 350 pitch leading to bumrah and shami retirement
dhoni will prepare more trundlers for 2023 world cup and by gods grace dhoni will score a magnificient 100 off 200 deliveries in the QF of 2023 world cup and finally dhoni will retire citing lack of family time

meanwhile pandya will come back from his 4 year suspension having now taken sainthood at varanasi. K L Rahul meanwhile will find a spot on Karan Johars show as a lightboy given how lite he was on his brain skills and he will fulfill his promise to model as a roll(over) as per Dravid

Kohli Sharma and Dhawan will comtinue to set records of the best top three in history of game only to be beaten by the combo of dhoni rayudu and musical chair boy in terms of how to reach 250 from 150 after 30 th over mark . One day cricket will discover newer ways of how to stay unbeaten till the end

Gill will finally debut in 2023 against BD only to be dropped next match for experienced Karthick

I predict a semi-final knockout.

Pleasantly surprised if we go further.

I honestly feel this team lacks firepower to win knock out games :(

My expectation is that post this NZ series, Shami instead of Bhuvi finds a place in playing XI. Shami has 106 ODI wickets in 58 matches, while Bhuvi has 111 in 101 matches.

India's best chance and highly probable scenario is to finish 2nd in the league stage, which will ensure they don't play England in semis. They will have a good chance to reach finals in that scenario.

Semi Final exit - while Pakistan prepare in England, the Indians will be focused on the IPL and I feel this will have a negative impact on the players.

I hope and pray that you are wrong, as an Indian fan I have the exact same fear 😱

India never had a stronger team in the WC and never before other teams were so weak, overall. India is the firm favorite on paper.

India has world no.1 batsman, no.2 batsman. no.9 batsman, no.1 bowler, no,4 bowler, no.6 bowler. These are the ingredients they hope to click. You can throw in Pandya, Shami as wild cards. These 8 players have to more often than not click.

Semis. This is the most rounded and balanced bowling attack ever for India in odi’s. Hopefully ki injuries in Ipl.

Not an Indian fan, but India should really be disappointed if they don’t go all the way & win the thing. The only major hurdle in their way is England who are massive chokers when it matters most.

I'm hoping for India to win the WC this year. With great bowlers and great batsmen, why would or how could I expect anything different?
Now, reality could turn out to be different, but expectation is for an India win all the way.

Naah doesn't matter much. I remember Wasim Akram saying the exact same thing before 2003 WC that they playing series in SA before world cup will make them the most prepared team, but it just doesn't happen that way.

you've to wait till ipl ends.. if key players still injury free then least making in final..

Semis. Anything less would be a shocker but entirely possible considering our middle order.

Semis is a done deal because top 3 will ensure that we win atleast 6/7 out of 9 matches. It's the knockout games where any top order failure could become an issue. I don't want to play against England in semis as that could be the end of WC.

Not really chokers because I doubt england ever started as favorites in other WCs. This time around they have a star studded powerful team, it will take a hell of an effort and massive luck for any team to beat them in their backyard.

I'd rather play England in the semis. If we best them there - we would go into the final as favourites and better prepared than any other team . If we lose, then we don't deserve to win anyway.

if india doesn't win the cup then it should be a failure, coz just reaching the semis should be nothing for this team.

India will reach the semifinal. They will lose in the semifinal or the final. That will be in line with their present ranking (number 2). A title win will be a bonus, but I will be satisfied with a semi final or final appearance.

As a Pakistan fan and a distant observer, I feel that India have the fundamentals in place to go all the way this year. They are the IN FORM team and anything other than victory in England will disappoint them.

We will reach the semis. We have 6 players in the top 10, and another 3 who are good support cast (Pandya, Bhuvi and Jhadhav). Its only Rayudu/Karthik and Dhoni that are a problem.

The top 3 and the 3 bowlers, and the support cast will be consistent enough to take India to the semis. After that, due to the fragility of the middle order, would mean the semis or/and finals depend on luck. To win the knockouts, the 2 of the top 3 batsman would need to have a good day and all the bowlers would need to be excellent. If both conditions are not met, then India will lose the knockouts.

Of course, even with strong teams, you have off days which can lead to getting knocked out. But with a fragile middle order, the chances of an off day are even higher.

SF for sure, than it all boils down to luck. If the middle order is not stretched in the SF, we might reach the final. The bowlers can't afford to have any off day during the knock out games.

If anything, i want a couple of losses early in the tournament and then qualify for the finals so that they are ready for bad days.

Absolutely one of SA or Aus beating us will be really good not to mention one good thing about the draw is that post the first 3 games we only face England who could cause trouble everything else is W before the game even begins so rr issues can he mitigated.

Not an Indian fan but the only team that can stop this side is England on a batting paradise with little to no assistance to India's spinners because of their long batting order. Otherwise I just envisage either Kuldeep Yadav or the seamers running through them.

India are favourites to win the WC.

India will do a Pakistan(1999) They will dominate most group matches but will get knocked out in finals by a good team having excellent day

Win else its pointless where you finish . No one remembers finalists , semifinalists etc .

Clear favourites with England. Only worry could be they are peaking way before the WC. They should give proper rest to the players in IPL who are certain starters in WC.

West Indies can also surprise in summer.

The IPL ends on May 12th. India's first game is on June 4th IIRC. In any case the IPL league games finish around May 4th.

So we will have enough time to recuperate if all goes well. The only worry is if someone gets seriously injured during the IPL. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen and even if it does so the player will recover before the WC starts.

I was not at all disappointed with my team's results in the 96', 99', 03' and 07' World Cups. Simply because I have always been realistic with my expectations.

In the 96' World Cup, we weren't a very strong ODI team. But that tournament was held in the subcontinent. We punched above our weight by reaching the semis.

In the 99' World Cup, although I was excited, I did realize that were better teams than us.It didn't hurt me much.

In the 03' World Cup, I was expecting the least from my team keeping in mind the horrible tour we had in New Zealand prior to that. We were a disaster in our second match in that World Cup when the Aussies trashed us. There were so much criticism and street demonstrations by fans in India after that match, Sachin had to come out and request them to keep patience. As usual, Indian fans listened to his request. And once against we punched above out weight and reached the finals. Once again, I was not devastated after the finals. A little disappointed, but not devastated. Simply because in my mind I knew that the Aussies were too strong for us.

2007 World Cup was a disaster for us. My father was battling for his life in the ICU of Guwahati Medical College Hospital back then. He was suffering from Sepsis. He recovered from the jaws of death. That World Cup didn't affect me at all because I had far more issues to come to terms with.

2011 World Cup was the first time I really, really expected my team to win the tournament. Thank God, we did.

2015 World Cup. This was one World Cup where I was really, really disappointed. I really expected India to somehow win it. It hurt me really bad when we lost in the semis against the Aussies.

Now coming to the upcoming World Cup this year. Once again, I'll be honest. I'll be really, really disappointed if we don't win it. I mean I know ODI cricket is simply unpredictable. We can be knocked out in any of the KO matches, provided we reach that stage. All it takes for is one bad match for us to be knocked out if we reach that stage. But I'm still optimistic and hoping we win this one.

I cant believe how Indian fans think they will exit semifinal.

Just look at the team,it's near unbeatable and the middle order with all its weaknesses is also chipping in,in times of need.
I think if they dont win it they will get to the finals atleast.
If Pakistan was performing like this i'd be over the moon.

Expecting India to reach the SF, if they reach the SF then the World Cup is India's as they can handle pressure better than any other team can. The only major threat to India is England, who might be equal or stronger than India or but they are not known to handle pressure.

true but these days ind fans have higher benchmarks to feel over the moon, realistically we expect this mid order to be found out at some stage of the wc ( and the reason fans are fretting is cause there are better alternatives available to be tested before the wc but for what ever reason the team mgmt . is sticking to the ones in the squad)

Well obviously whatever ones current position one always strives to achieve better than that.

But if the Indian team continues with their current mindset and form into the worldcup i see no reason for the fans to fret.Bar England there is not alot of threat.

I am not an Indian fan but i suspect nothing less than a win will do for them.

If India win against Afg and BD it will be fun. India have the ability to beat either Pakistan or Westindies if they are having off days like Pakistan had during Asia cup 2018.

like i explained the fretting is because us fans believe there are better options for the middle order than the ones currently in the team. if they were not better options us fans would not be fretting, our currentMOis fairly decent but not world class

just two changes ... gill in for rayudu and pant as back up in the squad as injury cover to msd and any MO bat( basically kedar) and the fans will quit fretting

Needless pessimism from those predicting a semi-final exit for India.

I predict an India-England final. It is then anyone's game.

In England we didnot have Bumrah. Our fast bowling was Deepak Chahar Shardul Thakur and Siddharth Kaul. So a full strength team may have beaten England.

Exactly, people conveniently forget that, despite having a third choice bowling we didn't do too bad actually.

It's all India, can't see anyone coming in their way.. Only team they need to worry about is Pakistan, if they meet us in the knockouts.

Just wish South Africa/New Zealand won the 2015 WC

True. Despite that, India won the first ODI. It's all about how England coped with the wrist spinners in the next two games to clinch the series.

Just because of CT? I think India will worry about facing Aussies in the knockouts more than any team out there.
