What's new

Indian Fans - Where would you rank this loss?

It's the fact that it was Pakistan that makes it matter the next morning :)

When India won the CT in 2013, I remember laughing at the miserable way England handled our spinners. But there wasn't too much euphoria unlike the WC win.

Whenever India has beaten or crushed Pakistan in the last few years, it's not fireworks time. More like troll a bit online and talk among friends how bad Pakistan have become as a team in a slightly sympathetic way.

The loss yesterday is more about a shock to certain habits you as a fan have picked up when dealing with Ind-Pak games.

I feel the exact same way. It's good for Pakistan cricket and world cricket. India also needed a reality check. Kohli was humbled. It's ok to loose to win.

Horrible to lose the game such a way. Anyway congrats to Pakistan.they played well. No shAme to accept that they were the better team today.

Good.

Good post, and thank you. Better like next time.

Mauka maukaaaaa :ashwin

Salutes and heartiest congratulations to Pakistan for this epic victory.Few times in the history if the O.D.I.game or in an O.D.I. world championship has a team ressurected glory or risen like a phoenix from the Ashes as Pakistan did in the tournament. It ressurected itself from the grave like in the 1992 world cup exhibiting the same do or die spirit. It was a revelation witnessing the energy exuded by Pakistan yesterday, particularly on the field. It reminded one of a tiger set out to catch it's prey.Pakistan has such an abundance of talent but were unable to knit themselves into a cohesive ,fighting unit.Yesterday's display and the one staging England was where they displayed agresssion, organization and mental tenacity at it's highest zenith. It was these very qualities that Imran Khan instilled into the team to make it a world champion team.Sarafraz Ahmed displayed great skill in garnering the resources of this talented bunch .

Sadly India caved in chasing the target ,reminiscent of walking in a funeral procession to perform the last rights. There was not a semblance of a fight and it was virtually allover after the first 15 overs.Even when India used to be frequently defeated by Pakistan in past eras ,in the 40th over of almost all those games it still had a 40% chance of winning those games. In Imran's era Pakistan won almost all it's matches against India but most of them were hard -fought .In that respect India's total submission was sad for the game of cricket, particularly for such a final.

Neverthless I again salute Pakistan and hope this win sows the seeds for the ressurection of Pakistani cricket to attain the heights of yesteryears.Considering their underdog status ,marginalization and humiliation in recent years I think arguably it was better for the game as a whole that Pakistan won than India.

Question to Indian Fans on PP.

First of all, commiserations on losing the final, you've still got a team full of superstars, rockstars and an impressive Pandya for the future.

Question is, was yesterday one of the worst defeats in Indian cricket for you guys and were would it rank amongst the worst defeats. I've seen opinions vary on this, but would like to hear from the Indian posters on PP.

Thanks.

It feels terrible losing to Pakistan, but it isn't much worse that previous losses like in the 2012 series. Not winning the trophy isn't that big of a deal for me. I don't feel as bad about not winning the CT as much as I'm upset about losing to Pakistan. If we had lost to England or Australia, I wouldn't have cared as much. Instead, we lost a match we should have easily won to a team which barely qualified to play the tournament and lost an ODI to WI in April (although played much better now).

It was pretty bad defeat. India has been battered much worse than this before. But since it was the final, it looked more menacing than what it was.

To me, the 1996 WC SF loss to Srilanka was even bigger loss. From 96/1 to 120/8 was heart breaking and considering it happened in India, it had a huge effect on fans. The was Sachin was runout/stumped by Kaluwitharana and the rest getting cleaned up by Lankan spinners was something I can never forget.

In yesterday's CT finals, India lost the match in the first 5 overs itself when Rohit and Kohli were back in the hut for nothing. The match was over there itself. Had no faith in Yuvraj, Dhoni and Jadhav to get close to the total. I was more disappointed about Hardik not getting a well deserved century than actually losing the match. Was giving galis to Jaddu for not sacrificing his wicket for the sake of Pandya.

Pak team were in red hot form and would have burned any team they met in the finals. I mean, even Hafeez who looked like a tailender all through the tournament looked like Viv yesterday. Every Pak batsmen were striking the ball like they were an ATG team. This Pak team was unstoppable.

India just ran into a hurricane and got destroyed. I knew the match was over by innings break. The entire momentum was with Pakistan. Every Pak player had their confidence back. Even if India batted again, they would not chase that total against a red hot/white hot team like Pak.

Graceful in defeat, look the def of it up...rather than praise Pak (even an iota), you are taking cheap shots at a point when they gave your 'World Number 1' team the biggest 'Phainta' of their whole history against the same team!

Gotta love Indian fans

Note: See the reply above for a better example of how to do that

Like dhobi had said in world cup 2015 someday the streak will end. It did. You guys must feel what we felt in 2011 mohali and other victory including 2007 t20 cup. Bad day at office. Looking forward to next encounter

Come on, I wasn't belittling Pakistan, just saying why the defeat feels much worse. If tomorrow, WI suddenly starts performing much better and wins a test in SA, if we lose a test to them after that, we'll still feel bad for losing to a team that was so weak a month back.

sadly this is no streak in CT we are now ahead with 3-2

it is worldcup and world t20 where there is streak which is not ending for pak so far

Yes, definitely. But I'm from New York, we get along with Pak guys very well. Now I'm in India, people are gaga over this defeat here. My feeling is Kohli had this coming. If it were to happen to Dravid, I would be more sad. A good Pakistan is great for world cricket.

Not an earth shattering result mind you. It was a one off defeat. And Congratulations to Pakistan on playing such a fearless brand of cricket right through this tournament after the loss to India. So coming back to the topic it doesn't hurt as much because:-
1.We were the defending champions.
2.Been very consistent in these ICC tournaments of late by winning and making it to a lot of semis and finals.
3.This is a one day game and not a test series defeat where there is a hangover of the loss.
4.Finally it was not in a world Cup coz those are much more meaningful.

Tldr; Pakistan did very well to win the Trophy and beat India in a meaningful match for once ;)

As an Indian fan, disappointed.

But overshadowed by as a cricket fan, thrilled to see Pakistan finally find a young, talented team that actually looks like they could be #1 in a couple of years. Except for Shoaib and Hafeez the others are all capable of playing another 5+ years.

Just another loss, its little more significant as we lost vs PAK. Last CT which India won was suppose to be last CT tournament, due to success of CT 13 it got extended. Looks like ICC going to scrap it again, good Pak won it once before it got scrapped by ICC.

pot calling kettle black :)) .... I mean when was the last time you said anything good about India who have been owning Pakistan in all world cup matches ...

I had an all important exam today but still took out time to watch the match and as you can imagine was depressed :mv but got over it pretty quickly as fear of flunking took over me. Now that I am free, I got time to dwell over what happened on Sunday. Surprisingly PP except for one or two threads isn't a trolling Gala after such a crushing defeat. Also congratulations to all Pakistani people for a great win, hope this one is your last one against us. :afridi

87 S/F , 96 S/F and last years S/F loss to WI were far worse. S/F losses in a worldcup are always the hardest.
