Gang behind 1 kg gold heist in Karol Bagh arrested; used fake Police-Income Tax team to pull off raid

New Delhi:
Delhi Police has arrested five members of a gang that looted over 1 kilogram of gold from a Karol Bagh jewellery workshop by posing as police and Income Tax officials. The incident happened on 27 November 2025 when the men entered a jewellery workshop. One posed as a police officer while the remaining four impersonated Income Tax officials.

They conducted a fake search, confiscated employees’ mobile phones, removed the CCTV DVR, and stole 1 kilogram and 1 gram of gold before fleeing the scene. An FIR was later filed at Prasad Nagar police station.

Intensive police investigation

Delhi Police examined over 250 CCTV footage and launched a high-speed interstate operation across Delhi and Haryana.

Three suspect vehicles, a Brezza, an Urban Cruiser, and a Swift Dzire were identified, triggering raids in multiple cities including Bahadurgarh, Gurugram, Sonipat, Rohtak, Hansi, Jhajjar, Jind, and Hisar. The first breakthrough came with the arrest of Sandeep in Bahadurgarh. His disclosures led to the capture of Rakesh, Shaminder Pal, Lovepreet, and Parvinder.

Recovery of stolen Items

Police recovered 435.03 grams of gold, Rs 3.97 lakh in cash, and the three vehicles used in the heist. Additionally, fake Delhi Police ID card holders and lanyards were seized. About 428 grams of the stolen gold had already been sold, and a portion of the proceeds has been recovered.

Bollywood inspiration behind the crime

During interrogation, the gang revealed that their plan was inspired by the Bollywood film Special 26. Sandeep, who claimed to be an OSD in the Madhya Pradesh Government’s Public Relations Department, organized the team, while Parvinder gathered intelligence on local gold trading. The gang then executed a meticulously planned raid posing as Income Tax and police officers.

Arrested gang members

  • Parvinder (42) – Government employee, alleged mastermind
  • Sandeep (30) – Organizer, claimed OSD
  • Lovepreet Singh @ Kaka (30) – Fake Income Tax officer
  • Shaminder Pal Singh @ Sinni (43) – Fake police sub-inspector
  • Rakesh Sharma (41) – Property dealer, supplied fake IDs and lanyards
Police are now working to recover the remaining stolen gold and track any other gang members at large. Officials also warned that the gang had been planning additional high-value raids across the Delhi-NCR region.

UP Woman Kidnapped, Drugged And Gangraped For 48 Days; Later 'Raped' Again By 2 Cops

A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr has accused four men of gangraping her over a period of 48 days, taking her to different locations across the state, drugging her and forcibly converting her. She later also accused two investigating officers of rape.

A woman was kidnapped, drugged and allegedly gangraped by four men in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh and other locations. The 28-year-old, in her complaint, also accused two investigating cops of raping her later.
The two sub-inspectors in Bulandshahr's Khurja have been suspended pending investigation. According to the complainant, the duo not only extorted Rs 50,000 from her on pretext of acting on her complaint but also subjected her husband to abuse, detaining him and threatening a false case against him to force her to comply with their demands.
Meanwhile, the main accused in the case has been arrested and jailed.

Conflicting Statements From Complainant: Police

The police say that the woman has changed her statements multiple times with regard to the two cops she accused of rape.

The National Commission of Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident, with Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar writing a note to the DGP, Uttar Pradesh, demanding strict action against all accused, including the police officials involved. The NCW has also sought a detailed action taken report from the police within seven days.

The woman in her complaint stated that she was kidnapped last November by four men, and taken to different locations across Uttar Pradesh, where she was drugged, gangraped and forcibly converted.
She said that the main accused had contacted her on Instagram and later introduced her to the other three accused.
She wrote that when she approached the police for help, one of the cops summoned her to his private residence and raped her multiple times over two days, while the other took Rs 50,000 from her to ensure justice.
She further stated that in a separate incident, she was attacked by two unidentified bike-borne men, though no FIR has been filed in the case yet.
She also said that the police had delayed her initial FIR in the gangrape case and that some of the accused, who she said were influential, had attempted to silence her and her family.
The police, however, said that the woman had changed her version multiple times.
"The fresh allegations against the two officers were serious and both were suspended with immediate effect. The woman has changed her version multiple times and is now unwilling to file a formal complaint specifically naming the officers, which has made internal proceedings more complex although the suspension remains in force," Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar said.
Kumar added that the probe into the case found that only one accused - the one who contacted her on Instagram - was involved. He has been arrested and sent to jail.
However, the involvement of other three was doubtful, he said, saying that their call detail records and mobile phone locations did not place them at the scenes of crime mentioned by the complainant.

Delhi Police to soon launch MCOCA unit to tackle organised crime, gangsters

The Delhi Police is gearing up to launch a specialised unit under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) to tighten the noose around gangsters and organised crime networks in the national capital and neighbouring states, police sources said on Wednesday.

The proposal aims at strengthening investigations with dedicated forensic tools and technical support with senior officials specialist in cyber crime.

"The unit has become necessary due to the growing number of gangsters and changing patterns of crime in the region," a source said.

The new unit, according to the police source, will get support from the Crime Branch and the Special Cell providing technical and operational assistance. The initial strength of the unit will likely around 100 personnel.

"It will primarily deal with cases involving gangs, foreign-based criminals, extortion rackets run from jails, gang rivalries, and organised syndicates operating in Delhi and neighbouring states including Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan," the source said.

The unit will also coordinate joint operations with police forces in adjoining states.

The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999, is a stringent action and an Indian law that provides special provisions for the prevention and control of organised crime, including terrorism and related offences.

40 foreign nationals linked to drug supply module detained in Delhi; to be deported soon: Police

Speaking at a press conference, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Surender Kumar said the raids were conducted by the Delhi Police, the Telangana Police and the NCB in a joint operation. The joint operation was launched around three months after the Telangana Police busted a drug cartel.

Gangster linked to firing at Kapil Sharma's Canada restaurant arrested

During the presser on Friday, Kumar said the police have also arrested a suspected gangster who was allegedly involved in shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma's restaurant in Canada on August 7. The accused, the official said, has been identified as Bandhu Man Singh, who had provided logistics to the shooters.

He was apprehended from Punjab's Ludhiana and the police have also recovered a Chinese pistol and some cartridges from his possession, Kumar said. "After a lot of effort, Crime Branch team under the leadership of DCP Sajeev Yadav conducted a raid in Ludhiana in which Bandhu Man Singh Sekhon was arrested, and a pistol was recovered from him," PTI quoted Kumar as saying.

"During interrogation, he has confessed that he provided logistic support for the August 7, 2025, firing incident on Kaps Cafe in Surrey, Canada. He has admitted to have provided the vehicle used in that incident. He was arrested in a case in Canada earlier. He was a wanted criminal in that country but absconded and fled to India," he added

Opinion | Guns To Rallies, How 'Drug Money' Is Fuelling Khalistani Extremism In Canada

Since 2007, more than 200 gang-related homicides in British Columbia alone have been linked to rival Punjabi-Canadian gangs fighting for control of the lucrative cross-border drug trade

Canada is home to one of the world's largest Sikh diasporas - nearly 8 lakh strong. The overwhelming majority are law-abiding citizens who have enriched the country through trucking, farming, construction and small business. Yet, a small, violent fringe within the Punjabi-Canadian community has, over the past two decades, become deeply entangled with transnational organised crime. The profits from cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking are not only buying guns and luxury cars; mounting evidence suggests they are also bankrolling pro-Khalistan rallies, referendums and legal defence funds for extremists.

This toxic nexus is no secret to Canadian police. Since 2007, more than 200 gang-related homicides in British Columbia alone have been linked to rival Punjabi-Canadian gangs fighting for control of the lucrative cross-border drug trade. The victims and perpetrators are overwhelmingly young men of South Asian origin. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) has repeatedly described the conflict as one of the province's most serious public-safety threats.

A String Of Seizures In Recent Years

  • February 2025: The Peel regional police seized 479 kg of cocaine - the largest haul in the region's history - hidden in truck trailers entering from the United States. Six of the nine individuals charged were Indo-Canadian men from Brampton and Mississauga
  • 2024: A super-lab capable of producing $500 million worth of synthetic drugs was dismantled in Falkland, BC
  • 2022: A joint Canada-US operation seized drugs worth $25 million; three of the five men charged were Punjabi-Canadians using trucking firms as cover
These are not isolated incidents. Law-enforcement sources in both countries say a significant portion of the cocaine and fentanyl entering Western Canada now moves through networks dominated by a subset of Punjabi-Canadian organised crime groups.

The more disturbing allegation - raised by Indian diplomats and echoed in some Canadian police circles - is that part of this criminal revenue is diverted to finance Khalistan separatist activities in the diaspora. While no Canadian agency has publicly confirmed a direct, systematic pipeline, several documented cases raise serious questions:

High-profile "Khalistan referendums" organised by Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) in 2021-2024 in Brampton, Surrey and Calgary cost hundreds of thousands of dollars each (buses, stages, advertising, printed ballots, school-ground rentals). Indian investigators claim portions were funded by individuals later charged in major drug cases.

In 2023, financial intelligence reportedly traced approximately $80,000 from a raided drug house in Ontario to a registered Canadian charity that supports pro-Khalistan causes.

Gurdwaras that host fiery anti-India speeches have, in some instances, received large donations from trucking companies subsequently investigated for narcotics smuggling.

The Nijjar Saga

Perhaps the clearest illustration came with the June 2023 assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a prominent Khalistan Tiger Force leader, outside a Surrey temple. Canadian police charged four Indian nationals with the murder in May 2024. Court documents and reporting by CBC and The Globe and Mail reveal that at least two of the accused had prior ties to criminal networks involved in drugs and firearms. Indian officials insist the killing was a gangland hit linked to turf wars over drug routes; the Trudeau government alleges Indian state involvement. Whatever the ultimate truth, the fact that a designated terrorist figure's orbit overlapped with organised crime underscores how blurred the lines have become.

This is not a new phenomenon. In the 1980s and 1990s, Babbar Khalsa and other militant groups used extortion, smuggling and donations from the diaspora to fund their campaign - a campaign that culminated in the 1985 bombing of Air India Flight 182, still Canada's worst terror attack. Thirty years later, the methods have modernised, but the pattern - crime funding extremist politics - bears uncomfortable echoes.

Most Canadian Sikhs reject both violence and separatism. Prominent community leaders, including former BC premier Ujjal Dosanjh and the World Sikh Organization of Canada, have repeatedly condemned the exploitation of gurdwaras for political extremism and called for stronger action against gang recruitment of Sikh youth. But the problem persists, in part because political parties in vote-rich ridings such as Brampton and Surrey have been reluctant to confront it head-on.

Canada now faces a clear choice. It can continue treating Khalistani extremism and Punjabi-Canadian gang violence as separate issues, or it can follow the money and acknowledge they are increasingly two sides of the same coin. Stronger border enforcement, financial-intelligence sharing with trusted partners, and zero tolerance for the laundering of drug proceeds through political or charitable fronts would be practical first steps.

For the vast majority of Canadian Sikhs who simply want to work, raise their families and pray in peace, dismantling this criminal-extremist nexus is not just a law-enforcement priority - it is the only way to remove the stain that a tiny minority has placed on an entire community.

Angry at Wife for Coming Home Drunk Like Him, Jharkhand Man Slams Her to Death

In Jharkhand's Palamu district, a 22-year-old woman, Shilpi Devi, was fatally injured during a violent altercation with her husband, Upendra Parhiya, after both returned home intoxicated. The argument escalated, leading to Upendra slamming Shilpi to the ground. He was arrested the following day.

Jharkhand: A 22-year-old woman was killed in Jharkhand's Palamu district after a late-night argument with her husband turned violent inside their home, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday night at Datam Badi Jharia, under the Ramgarh police station limits, when both husband and wife allegedly returned home drunk.
According to officials, the accused, 25-year-old Upendra Parhiya, began questioning his wife Shilpi Devi for coming home intoxicated. The exchange quickly escalated into a brawl, during which Upendra reportedly assaulted her. In a sudden outburst of rage, he allegedly lifted her and slammed her forcefully onto the ground, causing fatal injuries.
The police stated that Shilpi’s body has been sent to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. Upendra was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, a day after the incident.

The couple had been married for three years and share one child. Police are now investigating further to establish the exact sequence of events and gather additional evidence.

In other news, a woman in Attibele, south Bengaluru, died just hours after accusing her husband of poisoning her by injecting mercury into her body. Vidya A, a young mother from Tilaknagar, gave her recorded statement to police from her hospital bed at Victoria Hospital on Sunday — by Monday, she was no more. Police initially filed an attempt-to-murder case on November 23, but it has now been upgraded to dowry death based on allegations of harassment.
Her viscera samples have been sent to the forensic lab to confirm mercury presence. In her video testimony, Vidya said her husband Basavaraju injected her on February 26, leading to severe organ damage and months of hospitalisation. She also alleged abuse from her husband and father-in-law. Further investigation is underway.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

The prime suspect, Chandan Singh, is reportedly the son of Sudesh Singh, who was killed in a controversial police encounter in 1999.

Sources indicate that Chandan Singh believed Venkata Ratnam, who was allegedly a driver for Sudesh Singh at the time, had acted as an informer, leading to his father's death 26 years ago.

The alleged betrayal is said to have fuelled a quarter-century-long obsession for revenge by Chandan Singh, according to a reported confession by the accused.

Chandan Singh is believed to have spent the intervening years searching for Venkata Ratnam, who had reportedly settled and was living with his family in Hyderabad's Jawahar Nagar area.

After locating the victim in recent weeks, Chandan Singh allegedly spent the last month tailing him and meticulously planning the execution.

The attack yesterday morning played out with brutal precision. CCTV footage, which has reportedly circulated widely, captured the dramatic sequence.

Venkata Ratnam, riding his scooter, was intercepted by the attackers arriving in an auto-rickshaw and on a motorcycle.

The auto-rickshaw allegedly came in the reverse direction to block the victim, allowing the attackers to strike.

The gang, which included men who reportedly worked in Chandan Singh's auto workshop, stabbed Venkata Ratnam multiple times in the stomach, back, and neck.

In a chilling escalation, two rounds of gunfire were also reported at the scene before the attackers fled.

Just hours after the shocking incident, the investigation took a swift turn. Six individuals, including the alleged mastermind Chandan Singh, surrendered to the police at the Shahnazgunj Police Station.

The Shahnazgunj police promptly informed their counterparts at the Jawahar Nagar station, where the murder case had been registered.

Malkajgiri DCP Ch. Sridhar inspected the crime scene, and a full-scale investigation into both the motive and the exact sequence of events, including the use of firearms, is now underway.

Two suspects arrested for firing outside Haryanvi singer Rahul Fazilpuria's home

Dabwali Superintendent of Police Nikita Khatte said the Operation Track Down aims to nab individuals wanted for crimes such as murder, attempted murder, robbery and other violent offences.

New Delhi:
The Dabwali police arrested two men accused of opening fire outside the residence of Haryanvi singer Rahul Fazilpuria. Investigators said the same suspects were also involved in firing incidents at the M&R Builders office in Gurugram and at the Saga Music Company office in Alpha City, Karnal.

The arrests were made as part of the statewide Operation Track Down, launched to trace and detain criminals wanted in serious offences.

Operation Track Down yields results

Dabwali Superintendent of Police Nikita Khatte said the campaign aims to nab individuals wanted for crimes such as murder, attempted murder, robbery and other violent offences. She added that the Dabwali police have tightened their grip on several criminal elements under the operation.

Acting on a tip-off, the CIA Kalanwali team managed to intercept and arrest two wanted men who each carried a reward of Rs 20,000 announced by the Haryana STF.

SP Khatte confirmed that during questioning, the accused identified as Anil alias Goru and Gokul alias Golu confessed to firing at Fazilpuria’s home. Police also linked them to earlier attacks on commercial establishments in Gurugram and Karnal.

A background check revealed that both men were involved in several serious criminal cases registered across the state. Police have booked the two suspects under multiple sections and begun a detailed investigation. Authorities say more arrests could follow as part of the ongoing crackdown on organised crime.

Rahul Fazilpuria was attacked in Gurugram

The Haryanvi singer, who is best known for his songs like 'Kar Gayi Chull', '2 Many Girls', '32 Bore', and others, was attacked in a shocking firing incident in Gurugram on July 14, 2025. Reportedly, some unidentified people arrived in a TATA Punch car and opened fire at singer Fazilpuria. After this firing, the Haryanvi singer quickly drove away from the spot in his vehicle.

In August, Rohit Shokeen, a close associate of Fazilpuria and a property dealer, was shot dead by bike-borne assailants on SPR Road in Gurugram's Sector 77. Soon after the killing, Sardhanaia claimed responsibility for the murder on social media.

The police investigation later revealed that the incident was likely linked to gang rivalry and financial disputes involving crores of rupees. During the probe, Rohit's friend Deepak Nandal emerged as a prime suspect, as Shokeen had allegedly insulted him and failed to repay borrowed money. Authorities have since arrested several shooters believed to be connected to the crime.

UP Man Goes To 'Tantrik' To Win Ex-Lover Back, Gets Killed During Ritual

The victim, identified as Rajababu from Arshadpur village, had sought the accused, Neelu, to allegedly help him win back his former girlfriend, who had married another man in April.

Kanpur:
Police on Sunday arrested a self-styled 'tantrik' for allegedly murdering a 26-year-old man near a mazar in Shivli after a dispute over "vashikaran" rituals, officials said.

The victim, identified as Rajababu from Arshadpur village, had sought the accused, Neelu, to allegedly help him win back his former girlfriend, who had married another man in April.

He initially paid the tantrik Rs 36,000 and later an additional Rs 1.5 lakh for the promised rituals, Superintendent of Police (Kanpur Dehat) Shraddha Narendra Pandey said.

On the evening of November 24, Neelu called Rajababu to his village for "final rituals". After purchasing liquor, the two proceeded to a nearby field where Neelu staged a fake ritual and made the youth write a note, police said.

A dispute broke out when Neelu allegedly demanded more money. During the quarrel, he allegedly stabbed Rajababu multiple times in the chest with a knife, killing him on the spot. Neelu then placed the murder weapon in Rajababu's hand and attached a note and a photograph of his ex-girlfriend to the body to make it appear as a suicide, police added.

The youth's body was recovered the next morning (on November 25). A liquor packet found at the scene led investigators to a nearby shop, where CCTV footage showed him with Neelu shortly before the incident.

Neelu was arrested after initially attempting to mislead the probe but later allegedly confessed during questioning.

The murder weapon has been recovered, and post-mortem and CCTV evidence were also collected, the SP said.

"The crime was committed purely for money under the garb of occult practices," Pandey said, adding that further legal formalities are underway.

Mumbai Police has registered a case against the accused under multiple IPC sections relating to sexual assault, physical violence, criminal intimidation, and misuse of digital content.
The FIR, lodged at NM Joshi Marg Police Station, states that the incident took place on 18 January 2023, between 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM, inside the second-floor office of the pharmaceutical company located on Dr E Moses Road, Mahalaxmi.

Big Twist in Bengaluru ATM Cash Heist: Police Officer Turns Accused in Rs 7.1-Crore Robbery, Detained

Authorities in Bengaluru have detained two individuals, including a police constable, linked to a daring Rs 7.11-crore robbery. The constable and a former employee of CMS Info Systems are believed to have collaborated in planning the heist.

Bengaluru: In a dramatic twist in the Rs 7.11-crore daylight robbery that stunned the city on Wednesday, investigators have detained two people, including a serving police constable attached to the Govindarajanagar police station. Officials confirmed the development on Friday, calling it a significant breakthrough in what is now being seen as a meticulously planned insider-led heist.

Constable and Former CMS Employee Under Scanner

According to sources, the detained constable, who was returning home after a night shift on Thursday, was picked up early Friday morning. The second detainee is a former employee of CMS Info System Limited, the company whose ATM refill van was targeted and looted. He is a native of Kerala and had resigned from the firm recently.
Investigators believe the two had been friends for around six months and had planned the robbery over an extended period. The fact that the cash vehicle belonged to the former employee’s company has strengthened suspicions of insider involvement.

The breakthrough reportedly came from analysing mobile tower data near the robbery site. Teams identified active numbers in the vicinity, and Call Detail Records (CDRs) showed the constable and the former employee had exchanged several calls during the time of the heist, and had been in regular touch in the days leading up to it.

Despite immediate border checks and roadblocks after the incident, the robbers managed to flee. This has led the police to believe the gang could now be hiding in either Tamil Nadu or Andhra Pradesh.

In fact, a major clue emerged when the vehicle used by the robbers was found abandoned near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district.

Eight Special Teams, 200 Personnel on the Job

The Bengaluru police have intensified the investigation, deploying eight special teams and around 200 officers to track down the culprits. While an official statement is awaited, both Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G. Parameshwara have expressed confidence that the case will be cracked soon.
The Chief Minister said police have “obtained clues about the robbers” and will apprehend them at the earliest.

Political Reactions: Opposition Slams Govt

The Karnataka BJP has used the incident to target the ruling government, alleging a collapse of law and order.
Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka strongly criticised the administration, saying, “Bank robbery earlier, now cash meant for ATMs looted — a daring daylight heist on a busy road. The broad-daylight robbery of an ATM cash vehicle in Bengaluru this afternoon, in which money being transported to ATMs was looted, is clear proof that law and order in the state has completely collapsed.”
Police have also gathered information suggesting that some suspects may be residents of the Kalyan Nagar area in Bengaluru.

Dharmasthala Mass Burial Case: 'Masked Man' Unmasked As Chinnayya

In the Dharmasthala mass burial case, the SIT arrested the anonymous "masked man," identified as C.N. Chinnayya.

Bengaluru: In a dramatic turn of events, a major breakthrough has emerged in the Dharmasthala mass burial case. The anonymous “masked man” has been identified as C.N. Chinnayya, who has now been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). He was earlier granted witness protection, which is why he appeared masked.
According to the reports, Chinnayya confessed before the SIT that he was not the only one involved, claiming that an entire team had been working behind the conspiracy for over a year. He also admitted that he was motivated by money. Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara confirmed the arrest but added that further details could not be revealed as it could hinder the investigation.
Chinnayya’s first wife alleged that he is a “big liar,” saying that he had done injustice to her in the past and is now doing the same to the holy site of Dharmasthala, for which he must be punished.

The BJP strongly condemned the episode, calling it a deliberate attempt to defame a Hindu temple, and demanded that the case be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Meanwhile, the state government is supporting the temple authorities, assuring that the SIT is conducting a fair and unbiased investigation.

Breaking his silence for the first time, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr. Veerendra Heggade, said 'It's only a matter of time before the truth comes out'

What's the Dharmasthala Mass Burial Case?

The sensational case first surfaced in July 2025, when a man appeared claiming he had personally buried multiple bodies of raped and murdered women and girls while working as a sanitation worker at the Dharmasthala temple between 1995 and 2014.

He alleged that many female corpses were found without clothes or undergarments, with several showing signs of sexual assault, strangulation, and violent injuries. According to him, temple supervisors instructed him to burn the bodies completely to erase all traces, and he estimated the number of corpses to be in the hundreds.
By 2014, after nearly 20 years of service, he said he could no longer bear the mental torture. The breaking point came when a girl from his own family was allegedly sexually harassed by someone linked to the temple supervisors, prompting him to flee Dharmasthala with his family in December 2014.
Since then, they had lived in hiding, frequently changing residences in a neighbouring state. He said he carried the burden of guilt, but his conscience eventually pushed him to break his silence. He even offered to undergo brain-mapping and polygraph tests, and to help identify the burial sites, some of which the SIT had begun examining.
The case gained further limelight when YouTuber Sameer MD covered it, which led to massive traction on social media platforms and eventually pushed the case into the national headlines.

Before these latest revelations, the first case to spark massive protests in Dharmasthala was the rape and murder of 17-year-old Sowjanya in 2012.
Despite a decade of outrage, no one has been convicted in the case. Sowjanya, a pre-university student at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College in Ujire, lived with her father Chandappa Gowda (a PWD contractor) and mother Kusumavathi, in Ujire.
Adding to the controversy, a woman named Sujatha Bhat filed a police complaint on July 15, 2003, claiming her daughter Ananya Bhat had gone missing. However, she later admitted the story was fabricated.
Sujatha alleged that she was pressured by activists to fake the story due to a property dispute involving her grandfather’s land, which she said was linked to the Dharmasthala temple authorities. She also revealed that the photograph presented as “proof” of her daughter’s existence was completely fake. According to her, activists Girish Mattannavar and T. Jayanti had asked her to make up the claim.

The Dharmasthala case has now taken a sensational turn with the unmasking and arrest of C.N. Chinnayya. While his confession has exposed a larger alleged conspiracy, questions remain about the truth of his claims, the role of others involved, and whether justice will finally be delivered to long-silenced victims like Sowjanya. As the SIT continues its investigation under intense political and public scrutiny, the truth behind the mass burial allegations may soon come to light.

UP horror: Panic grips Meerut after video shows youth shot dead by friends; accused held after encounter

A video showed 25-year-old Adil, a clothes seller, being shot dead. His body was found on Wednesday near a tubewell in Narhada village. Police suspect two friends, Hamza and Jul Qamar, lured him to the forest, rendered him unconscious, and shot him.

Meerut:
Panic gripped Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh after a video surfaced on social media showing a young man being shot dead, prompting police to launch an investigation on Friday.

The video reportedly shows the assailants knocking the victim to the ground before firing multiple rounds at him.

According to police, the body was found on Wednesday morning near a tubewell along a pathway in the forests of Narhada village, under the jurisdiction of Lohiannagar police station. The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Adil, also known as Rehan, a resident of Radhna Wali Gali in the Lisari Gate police station area, who worked as a clothes seller.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Adil had been called out of his home on Tuesday afternoon by two friends, Hamza and Jul Qamar, who allegedly took him to the forest. Police suspect the accused rendered him unconscious before shooting him with a pistol.

Motive established, one held after encounter

SP (City) Ayush Vikram Singh told PTI that the video had come to the police’s attention, and teams were formed to identify the men shown in it. A breakthrough came on Friday after the police nabbed one accused after an encounter. The accused suffered bullet injuries in his legs and has been taken into custody.

Speaking about the motive, SSP Vipin Tada said a few days ago, Hamza and Adil had a dispute, after which Hamza harboured hatred and planned to eliminate Adil. He involved Jul Qamar, who fired the shot, while Hamza recorded and circulated the video of Adil’s killing. Based on the video, police attempted to stop Jul Qamar during a check, but he opened fire when he realised he was surrounded. In police retaliation, Jul Qamar was shot in both legs and admitted to the district hospital for treatment. The police are also investigating his criminal history.

Kabaddi player shot dead during match; attackers opened fire while asking for selfie

A kabaddi player was shot dead by bike-borne assailants during a tournament in Mohali. The victim was attacked when he was approached by the attackers on the pretext of taking a selfie. The Bambiha gang claimed responsibility for the shooting.

A kabaddi player was shot dead by unidentified assailants while he was participating in a tournament in Punjab's Mohali on Monday. The attackers, who were on a motorcycle, approached the victim, Rana Balachauria, under the pretext of taking a selfie, before opening fire on him, police said.

The Bambiha gang claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming the victim gave shelter to the killers of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.

Initially, Rana was critically injured and was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim sustained four to five gunshot wounds to his face and upper part of his body.

Mohali SSP Harmandeep Hans said that two to three assailants approached the players on the pretext of clicking photographs and suddenly opened fire. "We are getting details and gathering information. At this stage, we cannot comment on the real angle behind the incident," the SSP added.

According to sources, four to five bullets were fired from close range. Police are probing the case from multiple angles, including a possible gangster link.

In a post, the Bambiha gang claimed that Rana used to work with rival gangs of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Lawrence Bishnoi. It said that the attack was done by one Makhan Amritsar and Karan.

Investigators are also examining whether the incident has any connection to a well-known Punjabi singer, who was scheduled to arrive at the kabaddi venue shortly before the firing.

It also issues a warning to kabaddi players and their parents against playing for certain teams, threatening similar consequences. Police have not officially confirmed the authenticity of the post and are investigating the claims.

OPPOSITION SLAMS AAP OVER INCIDENT

The incident sparked a political showdown in Punjab, with opposition leaders lashing out at the ruling AAP over the law and order situation in the state.

Taking a swipe at the AAP government, Punjab BJP's General Secretary Parminder Brar said the shooting exposed the gap between government claims and ground reality. Referring to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's pitch of building a 'Rangla Punjab,' (colourful Punjab), Brar questioned whether such incidents reflected a safe and secure environment for its youth.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa termed the shooting "unacceptable" and said it highlighted a serious failure of law and order. He urged the state government to act immediately.

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said the firing at a kabaddi tournament was a "chilling reminder" of what he described a governance collapse, and alleged that Punjabis were being forced to live in fear.

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal held the AAP responsible for the murder. "The killing of kabaddi player and promoter Rana Balachauria during a Mohali tournament exposes a complete breakdown of law and order under the AAP government. Criminals have become so emboldened that they open fire at crowded public events."

"Chief Minister Mann has failed to control rising murders and extortion, while police are allegedly being misused for political vendetta instead of ensuring public safety," he added.

Meanwhile, police have intensified security and are scanning CCTV footage and social media over the shooting.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened when the man, who works as a labourer, went to a salon. A scooter then came from the side and the rider fired several rounds.

The injured man said he had no enmity with anyone. The shooting has left him in a shock.

The police are looking at CCTV footage to identify the accused.

The police said preliminary investigation suggested the shooter fled from the area just after the shooting.

"We are investigating the incident from all angles," said a police officer. "We are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses. The accused will be arrested soon."

The incident raised concerns about law and order in the area, with locals demanding swift action against the perpetrator. The police have assured the public that they are taking the matter seriously and will ensure justice is served.

The condition of the injured is stable, and they are receiving medical attention. The police are providing support to the affected families and are working to apprehend the accused.

Debt-ridden man fakes own death, kills hitchhiker for Rs 1 crore insurance

Police in Maharashtra's Latur district have arrested a man accused of killing a hitchhiker and setting his car on fire to claim a Rs 1 crore term insurance payout.

A man from Latur district, Maharashtra, has been arrested for allegedly murdering a hitchhiker in an attempt to fake his own death and secure a Rs 1 crore term insurance payout. Authorities identified the accused as Ganesh Gopinath Chauhan, who was reportedly struggling with significant debt.

Chauhan had taken a loan of Rs 57 lakh to purchase a flat in Mumbai, where he lived with his wife and children. His job at a private finance company did not provide enough income to cover the monthly loan instalments and household expenses, leading to severe financial distress.

The mounting financial pressure made it increasingly difficult for Chauhan to meet his obligations, and the stress of the situation began to take a toll on his mental health.

Latur Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe said that Chauhan had previously attempted suicide due to his inability to manage the loan repayment. He eventually moved his family back to his native village in Ausa following his father's advice.

The change in environment, however, did little to ease his financial burdens, as the loan for the Mumbai flat remained unpaid and continued to accrue interest. Chauhan's desperation for a solution only grew stronger during this period.

Seeking a way out, Chauhan reportedly took out a term insurance policy worth Rs 1 crore in his own name. On the night of December 13, he left his home with his car and laptop.

According to police, Chauhan meticulously planned his actions, hoping that the insurance payout would provide his family with the means to clear the outstanding loan and secure their future.

At that time, a 50-year-old man named Govind Yadav allegedly asked Chauhan for a lift and requested to be dropped at the Kila area of town. Yadav, reportedly intoxicated, accepted food offered by Chauhan before falling asleep in the backseat.

Chauhan saw this as an opportunity to execute his plan, as Yadav's inebriated state made him vulnerable and less likely to resist.

Police reported that Chauhan then drove the car to a deserted road, moved Yadav to the driver's seat, and secured him with the seatbelt.

After locking all the doors, Chauhan set the car on fire with Yadav inside and fled the scene. The act was carried out with the intention of making it appear as though Chauhan himself had died in the fire, thereby enabling his family to claim the insurance money.

Later that night, police received information about a burning vehicle. Upon investigating, officers found a body inside and began an inquiry.

Further investigation revealed Chauhan's alleged plan to use the insurance payout to repay his loan by making it appear as if he had died in the fire.

The authorities uncovered inconsistencies in the evidence, which led them to suspect foul play and eventually identify Chauhan as the perpetrator.

Superintendent Amol Tambe said the accused was taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

Parry cremeated even as Lawrence gang threatens to kill Goldy

Chandigarh: History-sheeter Inderpreet Singh alias Parry — who was gunned down allegedly by Lawrence Bishnoi's hitmen in a deadly falling out of friends — was cremated in Chandigarh on wednesday.

His ashes were still warm when Lawrence's henchmen began issuing death threats to Goldy Brar in retaliation to
purported audio messages from Goldy on Tuesday, threatening to kill lawrence.

Lawrence orchestrated the murder and lured Parry to the Sector 26 timber market on the pretext of talking on a secure phone where he was killed, say police.

None of the shooters have been arrested. Police are questioning six to seven men — including a few staff of a nightclub
where Parry was last seen. Investigators have identified at least two of the hitmen, say sources but 48 hours after the sensational murder, no one is in custody.

All three — Lawrence, Parry and Goldy — were once fast friends who walked into the world of crime together but turned into arch enemies.

On Wednesday, Hari Boxer, a close associate of Lawrence, released an audio clip on social media, threatening to kill
Goldy. After Parry's murder in Sector 26 on Monday night, the same ‘Hari Boxer Aarzoo Bishnoi' Facebook handle had taken responsibility for his killing.

In the new audio clip, Boxer repeatedly calls Goldy a coward and mocks that he once "cleaned Lawrence's slippers" "No matter in which corner of the world you hide, the Bishnoi gang will drag you out… We are not Facebook gangsters like
you, we fight on the ground. We will meet soon," the audio goes.

"Lawrence has avenged his brother's killing," Boxer says says — a reference to the murder of Bishnoi gang member Sippa
in Dubai last month. Lawrence's men blame Goldy for Sippa's murder and say Parry's killing was in vengeance.

"We were the ones who made you a gangster, and we will be the ones to end you. You started the fight, now
we will end it. We'll set an example for the world of what punishment for betrayal is," Boxer says in the clip. He accuses Goldy of now working with those who murdered his own brother, Gurlal Brar.

Both sides accuse each other of betrayal of friendship On Tuesday, an audio clip attributed to Goldy issued death threats to Lawrence for "killing Parry through treachery". "Lawrence is a traitor. He killed Parry, whose mother served him food so many times. Now, your countdown has begun," said the Goldy audio.

While the gangland feud grew more ominous, Parry's family cremated him in Sector 25 on Wednesday. Police personnel, both plainclothes and in uniform, were deployed at the cremation ground and recorded the funeral on mobile phones.

Parry's brother, Harneet Singh, an ASI with Punjab Police performed the last rites. Parry's bride and parents were inconsolable with grief.

According to sources, the postmortem showed that Parry was shot at point-blank range, with the bullets shattering most of his ribs on the left side. One bullet tore through the heart and lodged in the spine. Doctors extracted seven bullets from his body, and had to cut into his vertebra to remove the one embedded in bone.

The 37-year-old UP man later confessed to the crime, saying that he shot his wife dead first and then killed his daughter. According to the police, Farukh first shot and killed his wife, Tahira, while she was preparing tea at home.

A UP man allegedly plotted the murder of his wife and two minor daughters in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district. The incident occurred on December 10 in Ghari Daulat village, under the Kandhla police station area, but came to light on Tuesday, the police told the PTI news agency.
The man, identified as Farukh, allegedly shot his wife and two minor daughters and buried their bodies inside his house following a family dispute.
The 37-year-old UP man later confessed to the crime, saying that he shot his wife dead first and then killed his daughter. According to the police, Farukh first shot and killed his wife, Tahira, while she was preparing tea at home.

Later, as their elder daughter, Afreen (12), was also shot when she tried to stop him. The younger daughter, Shaireen (5), was later strangled when she arrived at the spot, the SP said.

Police said the accused subsequently dug a pit inside the house and dumped the bodies to conceal the crime. Uttarakhand's Khatima on edge after fatal stabbing during unrest, curfew imposed

A murder in Uttarakhand's Khatima has heightened tensions between two communities, prompting the authorities to enforce strict law and order measures in the area.

Tensions flared in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death during a clash between two groups at a bus station complex in Khatima. The district administration has imposed a curfew in view of the volatile situation.

The stabbing incident took place on Friday night when an argument between two groups escalated into a violent confrontation. During the clash, Tushar Sharma was stabbed to death, police said. Two other persons sustained serious injuries and were referred to a higher medical centre.

Following the incident, a group led by the Bajrang Dal allegedly set fire to a shop belonging to the accused and staged protests on the streets, forcing the closure of markets in Khatima. As the situation worsened, police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse protesters who had blocked the road, further escalating tensions in the town.

In the aftermath of the murder, tensions surged between two communities, prompting the administration to impose Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the area.

Amid the tense situation, the administration carried out an anti-encroachment drive under heavy police deployment, during which dozens of temporary shops were removed. Officials said the structures had been erected on encroached land, necessitating the action.

Security arrangements were tightened during the operation to prevent any untoward incidents, and vigilance has been increased across the area. Additional police force has been deployed in sensitive parts of the town to maintain law and order.

"A conflict took place here in which one person was stabbed to death. The police is investigating the matter and will soon reach the accused... The law and order situation is maintained. Several people are gathering and some of them are trying to spread anarchy... It will not be tolerated... We will listen to all the grievances but if peace is tampered, we will have to take strict action... We will soon nab the accused," senior police officer in Khatima, Vimal Kumar, said.

Khatima Circle Officer Vimal Kumar said the accused have been identified and will be arrested soon. He added that the law and order situation is under control and strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace.

Khatima is the home constituency of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and officials said the administration is closely monitoring the situation, with maintaining law and order remaining the top priority.

Bihar scandal: Ex-police officer guilty of accepting mafia gifts at farewell

The investigation was completed within 24 hours, and the preliminary report found the allegations to be substantiated.
Former Bikram Police Station Station House Officer (SHO) Vinod Kumar in Patna has been found guilty in an internal investigation for accepting gifts during his farewell ceremony from individuals allegedly linked to sand and liquor mafia, as well as other persons with criminal backgrounds.
Departmental action is now set to be initiated against him.

The matter came to light after a social media post alleged that Vinod Kumar, while serving as Bikram SHO, accepted gifts at his farewell ceremony from liquor and sand mafia and individuals whose properties were under confiscation proceedings.
Taking suo motu cognisance, Bhanu Pratap Singh, the City Superintendent of Police (West), Patna, ordered an immediate inquiry into the allegations.

The investigation was completed within 24 hours, and the preliminary report found the allegations to be substantiated.
According to the findings, Kumar violated Rule 14 of the Bihar Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1976, which governs the acceptance of gifts by government officials.

The inquiry revealed that he failed to obtain the mandatory approval for accepting gifts during the farewell ceremony.
Additionally, the investigation found that Vinod Kumar violated Rule 15 of the Bihar Government Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1976, which requires prior government permission for organising a farewell ceremony for officers holding responsible positions such as a SHO.
The farewell ceremony was allegedly organised without obtaining the required approval.
The inquiry further revealed that individuals with criminal backgrounds were present at the farewell ceremony, a matter considered serious by the police administration.

Officials noted that such conduct goes against the principles of community policing and undermines public confidence in the police force.
Based on these findings, Bhanu Pratap Singh has issued a show-cause notice to Vinod Kumar.
The gifts received during the ceremony will be separately assessed and valued, and a recommendation for further departmental action has been forwarded to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna.
The police department clarified that accepting gifts, violating conduct rules, and maintaining proximity with individuals having criminal antecedents a serious offences for any government official.

Such actions not only breach service rules but also adversely affect the credibility and image of the police administration.
The matter has now been placed before the SSP, Patna, for appropriate disciplinary action as per departmental norms.

Nithari Killings: Why Supreme Court Freed The Main Accused in One of India's Most Horrid Cases

The Supreme Court of India has permitted Surendra Koli, the main suspect in the notorious Nithari serial killings, to file a curative petition, leading to his potential release after nearly 20 years in prison. Koli was initially convicted in 2011 but has since been acquitted in twelve other related cases due to insufficient evidence. The court criticised previous trials influenced by media pressure and acknowledged the inconsistencies in the evidence against Koli.

New Delhi: Nearly two decades after the horrific Nithari serial killings shook the nation, the Supreme Court of India has allowed the curative petition of Surendra Koli, the prime accused, paving the way for his release. The decision marks the final chapter in one of India’s most chilling criminal cases, one that began with the discovery of skeletal remains of several children behind a bungalow in Noida’s Nithari village in 2006.
Koli, who worked as a domestic help for businessman Moninder Singh Pandher, had been accused in multiple cases of rape and murder between 2005 and 2007. Over the years, he was convicted in one case and acquitted in twelve others. With the apex court now overturning his final conviction, Koli is set to walk free unless required in any other case.

Why the Supreme Court Freed Koli

A bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath delivered the judgment, allowing Koli’s curative plea against his 2011 conviction. The court observed that it would be a “travesty of justice” to uphold the lone conviction when Koli had already been acquitted in twelve other cases based on the same set of evidence.

The judges noted that Koli’s conviction in the remaining case rested solely on his confessional statement and the recovery of a kitchen knife from a lane behind his employer’s house, the very same evidence deemed insufficient in other trials. The Allahabad High Court, which had acquitted Koli in twelve cases and Pandher in two, had earlier ruled that recoveries made at the instance of the accused and their statements before the police were not admissible as evidence.

Chief Justice Gavai also lauded the Allahabad High Court for standing firm “against media pressure”, remarking that the original trial appeared to have been influenced by “media trial” and public outrage. “It is rather complimentary of the judges of the High Court for writing such a judgment. There must have been a lot of media pressure. The trial court, sorry to say, must have been swayed by it,” the Chief Justice observed during hearings.

In its final order, the bench said, “For the reasons recorded above, the curative petition is allowed. The petitioner shall be released forthwith, if not required in any other case or proceeding.”

A Case That Shook the Nation

The Nithari killings came to light on 29 December 2006, when skeletal remains of eight children were found from a drain behind Pandher’s residence in Sector 31, Noida. Investigations revealed a pattern of abductions and murders that horrified the nation. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) later took over the probe, unearthing more remains and filing multiple charges against both Koli and Pandher.
Koli was initially sentenced to death in several cases, but in 2015, the Allahabad High Court commuted his sentence to life imprisonment due to a prolonged delay in deciding his mercy petition. By October 2023, both Koli and Pandher were acquitted in most of the cases by the High Court, which found inconsistencies in evidence and procedural lapses by investigators.

The CBI and the victims’ families challenged these acquittals in the Supreme Court, but the top court dismissed all 14 appeals on July 30, 2025, effectively upholding the High Court’s ruling.

‘Anomalous Situation’ and Final Relief

While hearing Koli’s curative plea on October 7, the Supreme Court had remarked that his case presented an “anomalous situation” — as he remained convicted in one case despite being exonerated in all others arising from identical facts. The bench observed that “the plea deserves to be allowed”, noting that the conviction hinged on evidence that had already been discredited in other trials.

Bengaluru Heist: Fake Income Tax Officials Target ATM Van, Flee With Rs 7 Crore — What Happened Next

Bengaluru gang stole around Rs 7 crore from an ATM cash van near Ashoka Pillar, using a fake Innova. Police track suspects; special teams investigate with possible Maruti Zen involvement.

Bengaluru: In a major robbery in Bengaluru, a gang allegedly stole around Rs 7 crore from an ATM cash-loading van on Wednesday (November 19) noon. The incident happened near the Ashoka Pillar when seven or eight people in an Innova car stopped a van owned by CMS Logistics. As of now, no FIR (First Information Report) has been filed in the matter. Officials said the formal complaint will be filed with the Siddapura Police Station.
The gang pretended to be officials from the Income Tax department and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). They told the van staff they needed to check documents because the van was carrying a large amount of cash without permission.

The Innova, involved in the case, had a fake number plate and the words “Govt of India” written on the back, said the police, according to The India Express. The van carrying cash reportedly from HDFC Bank’s J P Nagar branch., the report added. “The accused asked the staff to come to the Siddapura police station. Later, they made the driver stop the vehicle on the Dairy Circle flyover in Suddaguntepalya police limits before escaping. We have been tracking the vehicle, and it has crossed a toll near Kolar," the police said

The robbers forced the staff out of the van and made the driver continue driving for inspection. Later, they left the driver near Dairy Circle and moved the cash into their own vehicle before fleeing.

The police found that the robbers told the staff to go to Siddapura police station but abandoned the driver on the Dairy Circle flyover in Suddaguntepalya. They have been tracking the Innova car, which crossed a toll near Kolar.
Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said special teams are working on the case. He confirmed around Rs 7 crore was stolen and the cash was moved from the CMS van to another vehicle. The police also suspect a Maruti Zen car was involved in the robbery.

Video Shows Gangster Chandan Mishra's Killers Celebrate After Shooting Him Dead

Gangster Chandan Mishra was shot dead inside Paras Hospital in Patna by five unidentified gunmen in broad daylight. The attackers were captured on CCTV and fled the scene after carrying out the targeted killing. The incident raises serious concerns over hospital security and their administration.

Patna: Just a day after the shocking shootout at Paras Hospital in Patna, a new CCTV footage and images have come out, revealing shocking details of the incident.
Five unidentified gunmen, who are still on the run, were caught on CCTV entering the hospital with ease after they gunned down infamous gangster Chandan Mishra in broad daylight. Mishra, who had recently been jailed in connection with a shooting incident in Buxar, was out on parole for medical treatment when the incident took place.
The footage revealed the attackers executing the killing without any fear and were later celebrating, implying that they have achieved their goal. Authorities believe that the murder could be linked to a gang rivalry, which would further intensify criminal environment in the state.

The horrific killing has raised serious question on the law and order situation in the state with many asking how could the gunmen have entered the hospital with such ease? Was the hospital administration's level of vigilance seriously compromised?

As the incident has sent shock waves across the country, Police are investigating in depth whether the hospital’s on-duty security person was correlated in the attack.
Despite police conducting raids at suspected hideouts in Phulwari Sharif and other locations, the shooters remain on the loose.

However, according to police sources, investigators now claim to have identified the culprits, with access to their images and possible locations. Authorities are suspecting that this was a result of an ongoing gang war, they have arrested an accused on Tuesday, who was involved in the crime, also confirmed that all five accused involved in the murder have been identified.
What has shocked many even more is the response from senior police officials, Bihar Police ADG (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan who said that it’s the season of crime in Bihar.
This bizarre and insensitive comment sparked public outrage and pushed him to apologise. Even more concerning are statements suggesting that the crime may be linked to seasonal unemployment, particularly during the months of May and June, when many farmers and daily wage workers are out of work.
This explanation, intended to address the rising crime rate, has intensified criticism over the weak law enforcement.

Gangster Kala Jathedi Gets Custody Parole, to Get Married to Lady Don Anuradha Alias 'Madam Minz'

Notorious Gangster Sandeep Alias Kala Jathedi has been granted parole by a Delhi Court to get married to lady don Anuradha Chaudhary alias Madam Minz.

Delhi: Notorious Haryana-based Gangster Sandeep Alias Kala Jathedi has been granted parole by a Delhi Court so that he can get married to his lady love lady don Anuradha Chaudhary alias Madam Minz, who is also out on bail at present. Delhi’s Dwarka Court on Monday approved the grant of parole to the gangster for two consecutive days for 2 different ceremonies. As per information, the court has granted Kala Jathedi a 6-hour custody parole on March 12th for the wedding ceremony in Delhi and next day for the ‘Grih Pravesh’ ceremony, which will take place in Haryana’s Sonipat.
The gangster will remain in police custody during both the events. As per directions from the court, Kala Jathedi will get married on March 12, between 10 am and 4 pm under the custody of the Delhi police. Later, he will go to his village on March 13 for the Grih Pravesh ceremony, which will reportedly take place between 10 am and 1 pm, wherein the newly weds will ritually enter their new home.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Deepak Wason granted the relief after analysing the Delhi Police’s reply and examining the submissions made by Kala Jathedi’s lawyer.
On behalf of Kala Jathedi, Advocate Rohit Dalal had filed applications arguing that the right to marriage is recognised as a constitutional right under Article 21 and requested custody parole on humanitarian grounds to attend his wedding and subsequent ‘Grih Pravesh’ ceremony.

It was argued that both the applicant or accused and his fiancee are of legal age under the rules of the Hindu Marriage Act, of 1955. It was additionally contended that denying the applicant marriage would cause prejudice and violate Article 21 of the Constitution.
Earlier, Kala Jathedi, who carried a reward of Rs 7 lakh, was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell team in 2021, from Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district. He was wanted in several heinous crimes including extortion, murder, attempt to murder, robbery and others in various states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.
