Mohali:
Singer B Praak has reportedly received a death threat from a person claiming to be linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with the caller allegedly demanding Rs 10 crore and warning of serious consequences if the demand is not met, officials said on Saturday.

The accused threatened the Punjabi-Bollywood singer with death, saying that if the money was not paid, Praak would be “buried in the ground”.

The matter has now been reported to the police, and an investigation is underway.

As per a complaint filed with the Mohali police, the initial contact was made on January 5, when a call was placed to Punjabi singer Dilnoor, who is associated with B Praak.

However, Dilnoor was unable to answer the call at that time.

The following day, Dilnoor received another call from a foreign number. Finding the call suspicious after answering it briefly, he immediately disconnected. Shortly thereafter, he received a voice message from the same number.

In the audio message, the caller allegedly identified himself as Arju Bishnoi and demanded Rs 10 crore from B Praak.

“Pass this message to B Praak that we want 10 crore. You have one week's time. Go to any country you want, but if anyone associated with him is found nearby, we will cause damage,” the message said.

The caller further escalated the threat, warning that if the demand was not fulfilled, they would “reduce him to dust,” referring to B Praak.

The message has since been shared with the police as part of the complaint.

Following the incident, Dilnoor submitted a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mohali.

Police officials said they have taken cognisance of the matter and are conducting further investigation to trace the source of the calls and verify the identity of the caller.

Notorious gangster Vinay Tyagi has died while undergoing treatment for gunshot wounds at AIIMS Rishikesh. The Meerut history-sheeter was injured during an attack by miscreants on a bike while he was being taken to Laksar court on Wednesday, December 24.

Tyagi was being taken to the Laksar court via the Haridwar-Laksar highway overbridge, by six policemen who were acoompanying him in a Tata Sumo police vehicle.

The miscreants who were on a bike, took advantage of the traffic jam in the middle of the flyover bridge to open fire at the vehicle. The criminals were masked and they fled the scene. Viay Tyagi was shot at three times. Two policemen were also injured.

Tyagi was shot in the chest, arm and neck. AIIMS PRO Sriloy Mohanty confirmed Vinay Tyagi's death at around 7 am on Saturday. Postmortem proceedings are underway according to Uttarakhand police.

(Rishikesh | Gangster Vinay Tyagi, who was critically injured after being shot three times in a daylight shootout three days ago while being taken under police security from Roorkee to Laksar Court for a court appearance, died this morning at around 7 am during treatment at AIIMS Rishikesh. Post-mortem proceedings are currently underway: Uttarakhand Police)

Police have arrested the two attackers, Sunny Yadav and Ajay who are both residents of Kashipur. The main accused Sunny, alias Shera, confessed to shooting Tyagi with the intention to kill. They said that they targetted the man due to a financial dispute. Tyagi had reportedly refused to pay a sum of money to him.

Who is Vinay Tyagi?

Vinay Tyagi is known for having a very long history of criminal records in the state. He is said to have been associated with the notorious Sunil Rathi gang. Nearly 60 criminal cases have been registered against him which included murder, extortion, arms smuggling, kidnapping and theft.

(Haridwar, Uttarakhand: SSP Haridwar Pramendra Singh Dobhal says, "On the night of December 24, two criminals opened fire, injuring Vinay Tyagi, who was immediately taken to the hospital and later referred to AIIMS Rishikesh. Acting swiftly, the police arrested both accused within 24 hours, and during questioning, they admitted to the incident. Vinay Tyagi was already involved in multiple cases under various sections, including the Gangster Act, so the possibility of a gang rivalry cannot be ruled out. Further investigation revealed that the main accused had worked with Vinay Tyagi for about two years, and personal disputes over money appear to be the motive behind the attack...")

A month ago,Tyagi was involved in a high-profile theft case, which involved crores of rupees. Tyagi had robbed a major Meerut-Ghaziabad National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) contractor of a large amount of cash, several kilograms of gold, jewellery and documents related to Benami properties belonging to the man.

The items were hidden in Dehradun inside a car, which was also stolen.

Dehrdun police had arrested Tyagi and his wife in relation to the case and recovered the massive haul of stolen goods. A case of fraud involving Rs 1 crore was also filed against them at the Laksar police station.

Tyagi's sister, Seema, has now come out to make several allegations after his death. She claimed that the approximately Rs 750 crore stolen from Dehradun were illegal earnings and that the NHAI contractor had hidden it at the home of a doctor friend to avoid action by the Enforcement Directorate who were about to raid his property.

Seema said that Vinay became aware of the secret black money and stole the goods with the help of the doctor friend. She said that he was planning to hand the goods over to the ED, over his long standing rivalry with the contractor.

Vinay Tyagi’s family has also claimed the police conspired in his death, reported Nav Bharat Times.

They said that Vinay was killed to prevent him from making a revelation to the ED or any other central agency about the illegal money aquired by the NHAI contractor. Speculations are rife that the Uttarakhand police conspired in his death to prevent the documents from being handed over to the Enforcement Directorate.

According to sources, the police could not recover the Benami property documents, which were worth crores.

Haryana: Major terror plot foiled in Karnal as STF recovers grenades, IED brought from Punjab; gangster held

A major terror plot was foiled in Karnal after the STF arrested gangster Amar Singh near Indri. During interrogation, he revealed that he had hidden two grenades and an IED near Jhinjhari. A forensic team and the bomb squad recovered and safely defused the explosives.

Karnal:
A major terror conspiracy was averted in Karnal on Thursday after the Haryana Police's Special Task Force acted swiftly on information provided by a wanted criminal. Amar Singh, a notorious gangster arrested near Indri, admitted during interrogation that he had hidden two hand grenades and an IED in bushes near Jhinjhari.

A forensic team, the bomb disposal squad and the STF reached the location and safely defused all the explosive devices. Amar Singh faces ten serious cases, including murder and robbery and is linked to the Lawrence and Kala Rana gangs.

According to the STF, the nature of the recovered materials suggests the possibility of a major planned attack.

Explosives brought from Punjab

Investigators say the terror plot stalled after the arrest of Noni Rana. The arrested gangster revealed that he had collected the explosives from Punjab on Noni Rana's orders. Following Rana's arrest, further instructions did not reach him, leaving the explosives unused.

During remand, Singh disclosed the hiding spot after which the bomb squad recovered and defused the grenades and the IED. The device was fitted with a detonator, a timer and around one point five kilograms of RDX.

Gang network shifting from crime to terror operations

The STF investigation has also found that Amar Singh came into contact with Monu Rana and later Noni Rana while lodged in jail. He allegedly received continuous instructions from an overseas network based in the United States and became part of a supply chain for weapons and explosives.

Amar Singh is a resident of Meerut and faces action in ten cases, including double murder, kidnapping and robbery.

Sequence of events

On November 25, the STF arrested Amar Singh from the Indri Karnal road along with illegal foreign-made weapons. A court granted a 6-day remand. During questioning, he revealed that he had buried two grenades and an IED in bushes near the national highway. The team reached the spot, recovered the explosives and defused them safely. The IED fitted with a timer, and one point five kilograms of RDX indicated preparations for a major incident.

Explosives source under probe

According to the STF, the accused has not yet clearly revealed the exact source or the identities of the suppliers. It is also being probed who the explosives were meant for and where they were to be delivered. The arrest of Noni Rana disrupted the network and the next phase of the plan could not be executed. Investigators have found that Amar Singh was to be paid between Rs 20-25,000 for the task.

Delhi Gang War Returns: Gogi Gang Member Shot Dead in Broad Daylight in Rohini

In Rohini Sector 17, Delhi, panic ensued after Sahil Solanki, linked to the Jitender Gogi gang, was shot dead in daylight, raising concerns about gang violence. The attack appears connected to an ongoing rivalry with the Tillu Tajpuria gang, suspected to be involved in the shooting.

New Delhi: Panic spread in Delhi’s Rohini Sector 17 on Saturday after a man was shot dead in broad daylight, triggering fears of another gang-related killing in the capital. The victim has been identified as Sahil Solanki, who police say was linked to the Jitender Gogi gang. He was targeted by attackers who opened fire at close range. The attack was so precise that Sahil died on the spot, officials said.

Link to Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria Gangs Probed

According to Delhi Police, initial findings suggest that the murder may be connected to a long-running gang rivalry between the Gogi gang and the Tillu Tajpuria gang. Police suspect that members of the Tillu Tajpuria gang may be involved in the shooting.

Police said Sahil had recently been released from jail and his activities after his release are now under scrutiny. Teams are checking CCTV footage from the area to identify the attackers and track their movements.

In 2021, Sahil Solanki was arrested in connection with the murder of Deepak alias Radhe, who was associated with the Tillu Tajpuria gang. Police believe this may have played a role in the continuing feud.

Long History of Gang Violence in Delhi

Both gang leaders, Jitender Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria, were killed earlier in separate incidents. Gogi was shot dead inside the Rohini Court premises, while Tillu Tajpuria was killed by inmates inside Tihar Jail. Despite their deaths, police say the rivalry between their gangs has continued.
According to reports, the ongoing feud between the two gangs has led to more than 50 killings over the years.
Following the shooting, police deployed additional teams in the area and launched a search operation to arrest the accused. The area remained tense as the investigation continues.

Rohini Gunfire on CCTV: 25+ Bullets Fired at Businessman’s Car After Rs 3 Crore Ransom Call; Himanshu Bhau Suspected

In a shocking extortion attempt, gunmen fired over 25 rounds at a businessman’s car in Rohini, New Delhi, after he received a ransom demand of ₹3 crore. This attack is linked to the gang led by gangster Himanshu Bhau, indicating a resurgence of his criminal activities.

New Delhi: Bike-borne shooters opened fire on a businessman’s car and house in Rohini’s Sector 24 on Friday evening in a brazen extortion attempt, firing more than two dozen rounds and leaving the vehicle riddled with bullets. Police said the attack was carried out days after the businessman received a ransom call demanding ₹3 crore.
Investigators suspect the firing was executed on the instructions of the gang led by gangster Himanshu Bhau, signalling a possible resurgence of his syndicate.

Over Two Dozen Bullets Fired at Parked Car

Police said more than 25 rounds were fired, specifically targeting a blue Toyota Innova parked in Rohini Sector 24. The front windscreen of the vehicle was shattered and around 25 bullet marks were found at the spot.
The incident was reported to the police through a PCR call at around 5.23 pm. Despite the intensity of the firing, the businessman escaped without any injury.

According to investigators, the shooting took place after the businessman, who deals in cardboard and real estate, received a ransom call demanding ₹3 crore.

The groundwork for the attack appears to have been laid between December 26 and 29 last year, when the complainant received multiple WhatsApp calls and voice messages from an international number.
“A caller, identifying as a major gangster, demanded a substantial sum of money and issued threats,” a senior police officer said.
The businessman initially did not report the threats to the authorities, allegedly dismissing them as a prank.

Bhau Gang’s Role Under Probe

Police believe the attack bears the hallmark of the Himanshu Bhau gang, particularly due to the excessive use of bullets. While investigators are also examining whether a local gang misused Bhau’s name, sources said the modus operandi strongly indicates his syndicate’s involvement.
Bhau is believed to be currently based in the United States.
Following the incident, the Begumpur police registered an FIR under sections related to extortion and attempted murder.
“Crime and forensic science laboratory (FSL) teams were dispatched to the scene to collect empty cartridges and other evidence to identify the calibre of the weapons that were used,” a police officer said.

Gang History and Red Notice

Bhau and his close aide, Sahil Ritolia, have been declared absconders by a court, and a red notice has been issued by Interpol against them. Police have also sought permission to conduct the trial in absentia, allowing proceedings to continue even in the absence of the accused.
Police sources said Bhau was briefly detained in the US last year following a request from Indian agencies but was released due to a lack of proven charges.
In October last year, 10 members of Bhau’s gang were booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) by the crime branch.
Originally from Rohtak in Haryana, Bhau has been active in Delhi since 2022. Police said he obtained a passport using forged documents in 2022 and fled to Dubai, then Portugal, and is now believed to be in the US.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify the shooters and establish the full chain linking the extortion calls to Friday’s firing in Rohini Sector 24.

According to police, the police personnel, PCR staff and traffic police were deployed on the highway leading to Singhu Border when they intercepted a black Scorpio with black tinted glasses coming from Rohini side around 7 pm.

The vehicle was stopped for checking. Police noticed three occupants inside the SUV. During questioning about the tinted glasses, the driver appeared nervous and gave evasive replies.
When the occupants were asked to open the doors, police discovered that the Scorpio was fitted with bulletproof glasses, immediately raising suspicion.

All three occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle, following which a detailed search was conducted.
While nothing incriminating was found on their personal search, police recovered one loaded country-made pistol from beneath the driver's seat. Another loaded country-made pistol was recovered from the dashboard in front of the front passenger seat.

All three occupants were immediately apprehended.
Police seized two loaded country-made pistols along with the bulletproof Scorpio, following due legal procedure. An FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at PS Samaypur Badli.
During interrogation, the accused identified themselves as Deepak Maan (37), the driver, and Ankit alias Hunny (25), the front passenger.

The accused told investigators they were carrying the weapons for self-protection due to enmity with certain persons.
Security officials say the use of bulletproof vehicles by gangsters reflects a worrying shift in the nature of gang wars, complicating police operations and signalling a higher level of preparedness and violence on Delhi's streets.

Unidentified assailants open fire at Delhi gym; Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang purportedly claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post. According to the post, the gym was targeted as a call from the gang to its owner went unanswered.

New Delhi:
Unidentified assailants opened fire at a gym in outer Delhi's Paschim Vihar, triggering panic in the area, police said on Tuesday. No injuries were reported in the incident, which took place on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang purportedly claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post.

Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility

A social media post by Randeep Malik, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has surfaced, in which he takes responsibility for the firing at the gym. According to the post, the gym was targeted as a call from the gang to its owner went unanswered.

n the post, Randeep Malik wrote, "Jai Mahakal… Jai Shri Ram. Sat Sri Akal… Ram Ram to all brothers. Today, there was a firing at the gym (RK Fitness, Rohit Khatri) in Paschim Vihar, Delhi. This firing was carried out by me, Randeep Malik, and Anil Pandit (USA). I called him, but he ignored the call, so this had to be done. If you don't answer the call next time, I will eliminate you from this earth. Right at the gate of your gym, just like Nadir Shah was eliminated. Someone else will be using your phone. Note: Whoever is an enemy of Lawrence Bhai will remain an enemy for life. Until their last breath. I live for my brother—I believe in showing, not just talking."

Malik also listed the names of some groups, including the Lawrence Bishnoi Group, Jitendra Gogi Maan Group, Hashim Baba Group, and Kala Rana Group.

Police verifying authenticity of post

Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the post. After receiving information about the firing at R K Gym, police teams rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Forensic teams were also called in to collect evidence, officials said. "A live cartridge was recovered from the spot. A case has been registered, and multiple teams have been formed to identify and trace the assailants," a senior officer told news agency PTI.

All possible angles are being looked at, he added.

Police said CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the escape route used by the attackers.

Who is Lawrence Bishnoi?

Lawrence Bishnoi is a notorious gangster. He was born on February 12, 1993, in Dutaranwali village of Fazilka district in Punjab. He was active in student politics during his college days but later joined the world of crime and gradually rose to prominence in the criminal underworld.

He has been continuously in jail since 2015, and it is alleged that he continues to be the kingpin of the criminal world and operates from behind bars. Lawrence is also accused of the murder of famous singer Sidhu Moosewala (2022).

Police Probe Extortion, Gang Link In 3 Firing Incidents In Delhi

The Delhi Police is investigating a possible common link between the attacks, which targeted a gym in Paschim Vihar, a residence in Vinod Nagar, and a house in Green Park Extension.

Three separate firing incidents, allegedly linked to gangsters, were reported from different parts of the national capital during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, police said.

The Delhi Police is investigating a possible common link between the attacks, which targeted a gym in Paschim Vihar, a residence in Vinod Nagar, and a house in Green Park Extension. The police are examining whether the same group of assailants or handlers were involved in the string of shootings.

These incidents come after a similar attack on January 2, where over 20 rounds were fired at a property dealer's car in northwest Delhi's Rohini. The case was linked to extortion threats from foreign-based gangster Himanshu Bhau.

Police sources said the sequence of events suggests a concerted effort to intimidate businessmen through coordinated gunfire and social media claims.

Police Probe Extortion, Gang Link In 3 Firing Incidents In Delhi

Police sources said the sequence of events suggests a concerted effort to intimidate businessmen.

The first incident took place at a gym in outer Delhi's Paschim Vihar, where two motorcycle-borne men fired two rounds. While no injuries were reported, a social media post surfaced shortly after, claiming responsibility for the attack. The post, purportedly made in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang by an individual identified as Randeep Malik, suggested the gym was targeted because the owner ignored the gang's calls.

The post warned the owner of a fate similar to Nadir Shah, a gym co-owner who was shot dead in the Greater Kailash area in September 2024.

Police recovered a live cartridge from the spot and have formed multiple teams to track the shooters.

"We are verifying the authenticity of the social media post. At this stage, it is premature to comment on the involvement of any gang," a senior police officer said.

A few hours later, around midnight, two men on a motorcycle fired three to four rounds in the air outside the residence of Jitender Gupta, a property dealer in east Delhi's Vinod Nagar. No injuries were reported.

Soon after the firing, a purported audio clip surfaced in which a person identifying himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened the complainant for allegedly not paying extortion money.

In the recording, the caller says he had tried to contact the complainant earlier and warns that the firing was carried out by them, adding that the complainant would be killed in his office as well if the demand was not met.

Madhu Vihar police said that the shooting might be connected to an extortion threat previously received by Gupta. An eyewitness told the police that the suspects appeared to be recording a video of the house on a mobile phone before the pillion rider opened fire.

Gupta told PTI that he had earlier received extortion threats on September 27 and December 31 from people claiming to be members of the Bishnoi gang. Due to the sensitivity of the case, armed sentries have been deployed at his residence.

The third incident occurred around 1 am at a house in the Green Park Extension area of southwest Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave. CCTV footage showed an unidentified person firing at the property before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Police said teams are mapping the escape routes used in all three locations to see if movement patterns overlap.

The victim has been identified as Dilraj Singh Gill, a resident of Vancouver, and the cops have said "Gill was known to police."

Police in Canada's Burnaby have said the targeted killing of a 28-year-old Indian-origin man on Thursday could have been the result of a gang war. The victim has been identified as Dilraj Singh Gill, a resident of Vancouver, and the cops have said "Gill was known to police."

"On January 22, 2026, just before 5:30 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of shots fired near the 3700 block of Canada Way. When police arrived on scene, they located a male victim. Despite life-saving efforts, the man did not survive.

Shortly after, officers located a vehicle on fire in the 5000 block of Buxton Street. Investigators worked to determine whether there may be any links to the shooting," police in Burnaby, British Columbia, said in a statement.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is now probing the killing. "Mr. Gill was known to police, and the shooting appears to have a nexus to the BC Gang conflict," the statement said.

"Investigators have confirmed that the vehicle located burning in the 5000 block of Buxton Street is connected to the homicide and police are actively working to collect more information about the vehicle. Homicide investigators are working closely with the Burnaby RCMP, the Lower Mainland District Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) and the BC Coroners Service to collect evidence and advance the investigation," the statement quoted Sergeant Freda Fong as saying.

5 Linked To Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Detained In Rohit Shetty House Firing: Cops

Hours after the firing, a threatening social media post surfaced claiming that Shubham Lonkar was behind the crime, an official said.

Mumbai:
Gunshots were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence in Mumbai on Sunday, leading to the detention of five persons in Pune, with the preliminary probe pointing at their links with Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Shubham Lonkar, an accused in the Baba Siddique murder case.

Hours after the firing, a threatening social media post surfaced claiming that Shubham Lonkar was behind the crime, an official said.

At least five rounds were fired at the first floor of the nine-storey building in the Juhu area at around 12.45 am. One bullet struck the glass of a gym located in the building, officials said.

Nobody was injured, and it was not known whether the filmmaker was at his residence in the Juhu area when the incident occurred in the early hours, a Mumbai Police officer said.

Security outside Rohit Shetty's building was stepped up following the firing, he said.

"Zonal police and crime branch teams are investigating," he said, adding that Juhu Police and crime branch teams rushed to the spot and launched the investigation.

The police examined CCTV footage from around the building to establish the sequence of events.

Forensic science and ballistic experts' teams also reached the spot to collect evidence, the official said.

A case was registered on charges of attempt to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under the provisions of the Arms Act.

Sambhaji Kadam, DCP (Zone 3) of Pune Police, said the five men were detained by personnel from the Warje Malwadi police station.

The detained suspects were identified as Aman Marote (27) and Aditya Gayaki (19), both residents of Karve Nagar; Siddharth Yenpure (20), Samarth Pomaji (18), and Swapnil Sakat (23), residents of Dhayari.

Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi said the suspects have been handed over to the Mumbai Police.

According to police, the detained suspects have links with Shubham Lonkar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who is an accused in the NCP leader Baba Siddique murder case.

A few hours after the firing, officials said, a post was shared on social media, claiming that Lonkar was behind the incident. The post, written in Hindi, was shared by the account of "Shubham Lonkar and Arzoo Bishnoi", a senior official said.

The post also mentioned the names of Bishnoi gang operatives Hari Boxer and Harman Shandu, the official said. "We messaged him many times asking him not to interfere in our work, but he did not listen," read the post.

It went on to say, "This is just a trailer. If he (the filmmaker) doesn't listen, the next bullets won't be outside his house; they will be inside his bedroom." The crime branch is interrogating the detained persons and will arrest three of them as their roles have come to light in connection with providing logistics to the shooters, the official said.

Shetty is best known for the "Golmaal" and "Singham" franchises led by Ajay Devgn and for the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Chennai Express".

Siddique (66) was shot at by three persons at Kher Nagar in Mumbai's Bandra area just outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office on the night of October 12, 2024. He was declared dead at a hospital the same night.

Minor held for killing 22-yr-old in Rohini in gang rivalry

A juvenile from the Tillu Tajpuriya gang was arrested for the murder of Sahil Solanki, linked to a gang rivalry in Rohini, police reported.

A juvenile, member of the Tillu Tajpuriya gang, was apprehended during the early hours of Monday for allegedly shooting a 22-year-old man to death in Rohini Sector 17 on Saturday, police said.

According to police, he was involved in the incident when three assailants opened fire on Sahil Solanki –- allegedly associated to the rival Jitender Gogi gang.

The minor told police that he was recruited by the gang members through social media and was lured by promises of a lavish lifestyle. He said he was only riding the motorcycle and ferrying the shooters.

He also told the investigators that the weapons and an abandoned motorcycle were arranged by handlers linked to the Tajpuriya gang.

After the crime, an FIR was registered at KN Katju Marg police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.

Police said the murder appears to be part of the long-running gang rivalry that escalated after Gogi was shot dead inside Rohini Court complex in 2021, followed by the killing of Tajpuriya (Sunil Mann) inside Tihar Jail in 2023.

Police said that Solanki had earlier been arrested in a murder case but was granted bail by the Delhi High Court in February 2025. “His killing was retaliatory as he was involved in a 2021 murder of a member of Tillu gang,” an investigator said.

Kanpur:
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rishikant Shukla has been placed under suspension after initiation of a vigilance inquiry following a SIT probe that uncovered alleged undeclared assets worth nearly Rs 100 crore, officials said on Tuesday.

Shukla was suspended on Monday after SIT findings indicated at least 12 properties, valued at approximately Rs 92 crore, linked to his PAN card along with additional properties, though yet undocumented, pushing the total value to Rs 100 crore or more, said a senior police official.

The SIT report said that during his tenure in Kanpur between 1998 and 2009, Shukla was in close association with advocate-turned-gangster Akhilesh Dubey, believed to be running a racket involving fake cases, extortion and land grabbing, he said.

Rishikant Shukla was serving as the Circle Officer (Bhogaon) in Manpuri district when his name cropped up in connection with the extortion racket.

Gangster Groom Arrested From Mandap, Bride Begs Cops To Let Wedding Be Over

The bride arrived at the police station and made a desperate plea that stunned everyone present.

Bhopal:
What was expected to be a day of celebration turned into a crime drama in Bhopal when police stormed a wedding ceremony and arrested the groom, a gangster, from the mandap. Hours later, the bride arrived at the Koh-e-Fiza police station with mehndi still dark on her hands and haldi on her face, making a desperate plea that stunned everyone present.

"Sahab, my life will be destroyed. What's my fault? I didn't know about the crimes he committed. Guests are waiting at home. Haldi and other rituals have been done," the bride, Seema, cried before police officers.

Fighting back tears, she begged the police to release her fiance, Akash, also known as Bhura, for just two hours so that the wedding rituals could be completed. When officers refused, she made a startling request: if his release was impossible, the wedding vows should at least be performed inside police custody.

But the police did not relent.

The dramatic sequence unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when a police team reached the wedding venue and took Akash Neelkanth, the alleged leader of an "illegal gang" into custody.

Guests watched in disbelief as the groom was escorted away by officers before the sacred vows could be taken. Along with Akash, police arrested his associates Rajamji Thakur, Abhishek Upadhyay, Abhishek Meena, Neeraj Khange, and Amit Oswal. All the accused were produced before a court and sent to police remand.

The 'Illegal Gang'

Investigators said the gang, known locally as the "illegal gang", has been active in Bhopal since 2018. According to police sources, the group comprised more than 50 youths from the Vajpayee Nagar area, many of whom have tattooed the word "illegal" on their necks as a mark of loyalty and identity.

The gang's alleged leader, Akash alias Bhura, is no ordinary criminal. Police records show 31 cases registered against him, including serious charges like murder.

In Bhopal, BJP Yuva Morcha Mandal Vice President Surendra Kushwah was murdered on March 18, 2024. Akash was the main accused in the murder case. In this connection, he had spent nearly 18 months in jail before being released on bail about four months ago.

Police say the arrests stem from a kidnapping case. The gang allegedly kidnapped a 26-year-old priest, locked him inside a flat in the Eidgah Hills area and brutally assaulted him, while demanding Rs 8 lakh in ransom. The victim was threatened with being falsely implicated in a rape case if he failed to pay. Investigators say the gang forced the priest's brother to transfer 50,000 online while pressuring the family to arrange the remaining Rs 7.5 lakh in installments.

The entire operation came to light when the priest managed to escape and reached the Koh-e-Fiza police station on March 11, where he filed an FIR. Acting swiftly on the complaint, police tracked the accused and launched raids, ending in the dramatic arrest of the gangster right from his wedding ceremony.

Police said Seema and Akash had been in a relationship for nearly six years. Seema lives in the same locality and had been preparing for the wedding for weeks.

2 'Tala-Chaabi' Gang Members Arrested In Delhi In Rs 1.5 Crore Burglary Case

The burglary, reported on September 12, involved the theft of nearly a kilogram of gold, 11 kg of silver jewellery, and multiple diamond ornaments.

Two alleged members of 'tala-chaabi' gang, who pose as key-makers and survey houses locked for several days before breaking in, have been arrested in Rs 1.5 crore burglary case in Delhi's Shahdara, police said on Wednesday.

The burglary, reported on September 12, involved the theft of nearly a kilogram of gold, 11 kg of silver jewellery, multiple diamond ornaments and other valuables from the home of Krishna Nagar resident Manna Lal Surana, they said.

The complainant had returned home around 1.15 pm to find the locks of the main gate, inner doors and cupboards broken and the house ransacked.

A case was registered and more than 2,500 CCTV cameras from Delhi to Indore were scanned and dossiers of burglars with similar modus operandi were analysed, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Parshant Gautam said.

Technical surveillance, interrogation of family members and ground intelligence helped zero in on the suspects.

Two men, Samrat Singh (30) of Vadodara, and Samit alias Sumit Singh (22) of Indore, were identified and arrested, the officer said.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that they were part of an organised 'tala-chaabi' burglary syndicate operating along the Madhya Pradesh-Gujarat-Maharashtra belt. Members of the gang pose as key-makers during the day and survey houses locked for several days before breaking in at night.

They travel to Delhi by train, stay in budget hotels near railway stations, steal motorcycles for mobility, and quickly switch states after committing multiple burglaries, the police said.

The duo allegedly arrived in Delhi with two associates, surveyed Shahdara localities, stole a motorcycle from the Man Sarovar Park area, and targeted the Krishna Nagar house on the night of September 11-12. After the burglary, they abandoned the motorcycle, stole another one to evade tracking, and fled Delhi, the police said.

The police recovered around 150 grams of gold jewellery, 3 kg of silver, a white SUV allegedly bought using the stolen proceeds, and a stolen motorcycle used in the crime. Both accused allegedly have several previous involvements in burglary and theft cases across Delhi, he said.

Further investigation is underway to trace additional gang members and recover the remaining stolen property, the police added.
