Barkha Dutt is the leading news anchor of NDTV, which is known for taking a liberal stand in issues like Kashmir, Pakistan, Muslims in India, JNU etc.

Arnab Goswami her main rival, is an editor in chief of times now who always takes the nationalist view and known for his aggressive journalism.

Barkha has taken few jibes on Arnab on twitter and openly written a letter to him -

Most of the other journalists like Rajdeep Sardesai, Ravish Kumar etc. also supported Barkha Dutt.


Though Arnab directly never took any journalists name but below are his speeches which made Barkha and other journalists unhappy.



This media war is only getting angry.

Lol.Barkha is done.Her reality in Kargil war,Mumbai attacks and Radia tapes have been exposed.She is finished a journalist.Arnab OTOH is currently the highest paid and highest TRP gaining journalist in India.
 
Gynendra Pandey - the noted Indian historian - made the point that during anti-colonial nationalisms, the nation is equated with the people, but on the attainment of independent statehood, the equation gives way to a new equivalence, namely that the nation = the state. Loyalty to the nation then becomes fused with loyalty to the state and the interests that the state represents. There is a further point that Pandey makes. On one hand the nation is to be ‘made’ to be ‘constructed’, this being a language of rationality. On the other hand, the nation is said to be ancient, natural and possessing an essence. And it is this essence, which is ‘concretized in its state and territory’. As a result, national interest and integrity of the state become indistinguishable. A state can undertake morally abhorrent actions – and states on the Indian subcontinent have frequently done so - but it will find its defenders and those that criticise it, run the risk of being labeled ‘disloyal’ or worse.

One further point to be made is around the language employed to describe some of the awful acts that states carry out, which to quote Perry Anderson, manifests itself in “the diffusion of a culture of euphemism, in which disagreeable realities are draped with decorous evasions or periphrases - ‘human rights abuses’ for torture or murder, ‘hostiles’ for rebels, and the rest. To any sensibility accustomed to this kind of verbal emulsion, calling a spade a spade is bound to be jarring.”

None of this is of course unique to South Asia, but individuals before falling over themselves to defend ‘their nation’ may want first to consider what it is in fact that they are defending.
 
This is a war between liberals and conservatives like in every other country. I find it funny that posters above love liberal pakistani journos like hassan nisar and call him realistic and intelligent but then commit the hypocrysy of calling liberals in their own country such as barkha, traitors and what not.

I know why. Liberal journalists have an opinion of their own and always question the government and their actions. Now our joshilay neighbouring brethern love it when the same journos question pakistani govt but when it comes to their own, they call them names and question their love for mother india.

True I can't seem to understand why some Muslims in the west try to align with liberals.
 
Everyone is either left or right. There is almost impossible to find Someone in the centre is.

The issue is how far you are from the middle point.

Barkha's view is less about liking something but more about disliking BJP.

In her hate she forgets that disliking a party shouldn't mean to use her power against the country.

Barkha sold out to the Congress,Arnab to BJP
not a concept, I expect deluded bhakts for whom Modi=India, to understand .
The only prominent journalists in India who are worthy of respect are Ravish Kumar and Haritosh Bal.
Bhakts whose intellectual icons are the likes of Smriti Irani and Modi,hate them as well.

What a brilliant post.You just described BJP governed India- calling a spade a spade here will get you labelled disloyal.
Your post resonates,as i read the news of Indian defence minister who is a complete laloo when it comes Pakistan or China,condone the troll attack against Aamir Khan.This is the gravitas that the BJP politicians lend to the posts that they occupy.
 
Arnab is the way to go these days. Barkha has been on a long slide since the mid-2000s.
 
People aren't picking on Barkha because she's a liberal ; she has been viewed with suspicion of being a Congress surrogate ever since the Nira Radia tapes scandal
 
She is been pro congress from start.

When congress was in government she was considered a hawk in Pakistan. When BJP is in power she is a dove.

She doesn't really love Pakistan but her hate for modi is just making her blind and she doesn't realise what she is doing.

This proves that hate brings damage to you only.

Lols, I just watched the videoes posted above and is this joker a journalist? I have never ever seen such a biased "journalist". If he had been here in Norway he would not have survived one second on TV. The only thing I could call him is a Army spokesperson. Never seen such low standard of journalism before.

Most people do not like him but a lot dislike barkha dutt. He just cashed in on that as people found someone speaking their mind on TV as barkha was virtually going unchallenged on her one-sided stories

liberal fascists are worse than right wing extremists, who may kill, but are not traitors to the nation.
 
All news anchors of pvt news channels long for TRP and they can do anything for TRPs. I quite liked Dr. Pronnoy Roy who is very subtle in his debates and try to be as neutral as possible. The current crop of anchors occupying the prime time push their opinions very hard on others and get annoyed when it fails but rarely it fails. These guys invite people to suit to their agendas. BD has been awfull from Kargil time and AG is a nuisance of a different order. Both Jerks fighting for a position in popular news anchor is the lowest that Indian media could go. Missing DD days news :-(
 
Love Barkha to bits only because I profitted chapad phaad ke under Congress (though biznes is picking up under AAP as well), if the same happens under BJP will love Arnab as well and promptly ditch Barkha and Congress.
 
Most of the main stream media is sponsored by political parties in some way or the other.. NDTV being one of them.. Times Now from what I have heard is one of the few independent channels. Arnab is a jerk sometimes but most of the times he is spot on though the way he treats his guests is despicable.

Arnab does bring up some very important issues in mainstream media which other people don't. IF it was not for him many issues would have been buried under the carpet. Also he single handedly destroyed Rahul Gandhi's political career, you should be proud of him for that... :maqsood
 
Boring,can't support any ,Barkha isn't a proper liberal who has very hard time calling spade a spade, and Arnab we know is Arnab!

They both were mentored by Pranav Roy i thought along with Rajdeep,but Rajdeep was partial to we know who, and why would that be??

Barkha needs to file a FIR ,do it in non BJP states it's an issue.

Also Republic had lot of issues opening, it kept delaying.

Her funding source may be an issue and thats why she may be trying to preempt the govt and try to force her way through.
 
Arnab is biased and idiotic. Barkha is much more honest and impartial. From the few Arnab comedy shows I have seen he never gives the side he disagree's with the opportunity to speak. Good journalism is about being fair and impartial, nothing to do with being liberal or not. Arundhati Roy has also lit a fire under Goswami as well:afridi1 He just can't accept that Hindutva terrorists are threatening those like Barkha who challenges their narrative.
