What's new

Indian news channels declare Pakistan is at “civil war”

Leave aside the other things but How is FATF propaganda? So Pak isn’t in the grey list ?

Why leave aside the other things?
Besides, pretty sure the FATF propaganda was Indian media spreading false news that Pakistan was going to be put on the blacklist.

When our relationship with US get better we'll be out of fatf in a jiffy

That tells the reality of fatf (doesn't mean we're not doing shady stuff but so is literally every other country on earth)

EXACTLY! Even people in Pakistan fell for this fake hate filled propaganda from Indians. India was responsible for spreading "ShiaGenocide" propaganda as well. Not that the issue doesn't exist just like civil-military issues but to say there was Shia genocide in the country was EXACTLY like saying there is civil war going on.

Not only that but the foolish posters here on PP fell for it too as I remember arguing Vs them on it

If anyone was in need of some comedic relief… :ua

They are literally doing serious full-blown programs on this :))

I salute Modi’s govt that it has turned a very large majority of Indians into gullible radicals who LOVE to hear and watch such news.

This fake news is not for Pakistan or the international community - nobody is so STUPID to fall for it.

This fake news is for Modi supporters to get their daily dose of dopamine.

These days journalism is ALL about money.
They will push the agenda of whoever pays more, and/or they will produce what sells more.

This kinda news sells in India - So let the dumb daft of Modi lovers enjoy their ignorance.
The more sick they get, the more it’s better for Pakistan and all neighbors of India, as these radicals will speed up the destruction of India.

I do think there is an issue of implementation .. but i also believe it will be clear in 6 years.. I have been wrong about certain policies before so I do want to see how it pans out esp the Capitalist bills by BJP and automation rising in every field.

I don't know man. Apart from personal observations, I keep coming across articles like these.

Judging by their content, there doesn’t seem to be much quality control in place whatsoever. :))

Thanks for the correction. Although I wonder how they're getting away with using the CNN name.

And Rajdeep Sardesai is a known Modi hater. He is quite full of himself and has been publicly scolded by celebrities. He seems to enjoy it.

Issue with sanghis is not just implementation, anyone believing it is either naïve to the his/her core or trying to act naïve. Its their intention and implementation of their evil designs which is most evil & destructive.

Why are peaceful indians turning into evil?

Saw this on Twitter too. Classic example of bot accounts 'for' and 'against' and arguing against each other on social media and targeting illiterate masses.

Worrying part is for the mainstream media to pick this story and circulate around without verifying. It's both embarrassing and a desperate attempt to take attention away from the current Covid situation in the country.

Arnab declaring Sindh is on the verge of breaking away from Pakistan, which is "not a country" anymore....no wonder they get the highest viewership here. Indian tv media is tamasha at its best.

Because the other things are something we may not be able to confirm as a tangible evidence without back and forth because either it is Indias version or Pakistan’s. version .

The FATF thing is documented
and involves external parties so It is neither India’s or Pakistan’s version .

That’s why I was asking why include something that is obvious as propoganda

Modi and Shah are defn a risk(more so than NDA-1) but India would had stalled without capitalist changes, it came in massive form of conservativism and everyone's bigotry(Indian people ) is out in the open as well, I still want to see how it pans out, I feel its very hard to bring about change (positive or negative).

This is how I see it, GST is passed, so has Farm bills now all that is needed is UPA to have internal democracy and select a non-Gandhian before Hindutva takes over Southern India and Maha.

All that is required for BJP to lose is for them to not win UP.

Even though I am not sure if Indian rural heartland is ready for the capitalist changes but let's see. All that sounds reasonable in a vacuum but you have discounted the biggest factor here: BJP itself. You think with the enormous power they wield now they will allow UPA to take over so easily? You must be really optimistic if you make light weight of their power and wish to stay in power at all costs.

I think am optimistic for individual growth of downtrodden castes ,their willingness to fight, status Quo changes is what I hope for, the progressive movements of 70s during the rule of Indira Gandhi gave upward mobility for the downtrodden castes(eventhough through caste politics) and student politics rose as well, hoping this time it pushes Dalits even more to fight for their rights and enabling them to think individually.

Yadavs came up after 70's in a big way.

If Marxist society(in terms of culture not economy) can't be forced down people's throats the other way is to have a dictator and people rise up, thereby learning themselves along the way what suits them best.

India unfortunately cannot have revolutions like that of South America, so these internal dharnas are the only way to educate slowly with the help of capitalist money :P

I also have no issue if Muslim women rise up and learn to apply their rights during BJP eventhough BJP uses them as a political ploy.

Fake news has been widely circulating on Indian sites and social media this week, claiming a civil war had broken out in the Pakistani city of Karachi.

The reports emerged after local Pakistani media said troops had kidnapped the provincial police chief to force him to arrest a top opposition leader.

The story was quickly picked up over the border in Pakistan's arch-rival, India, where reports went much further - saying clashes between the police and the army had resulted in the deaths of many Karachi police officers and tanks had been seen on the streets.

A fake video circulating on Twitter even claimed to show some of the alleged unrest.

In reality, none of it was true.

Many local police and opposition members had been angered by events surrounding the politician's arrest - but there was no violence.

Pakistan and India are bitter enemies and it's well known they have long used propaganda against each other - they have fought three wars since independence from Britain in 1947.

Last year, Facebook blocked networks linked to Pakistan's military and a global network of pro-Indian fake websites and think-tanks was exposed, which had been aimed at influencing decision-making in Europe.

But what's notable this time is the number of verified accounts and apparently reputable news outlets that ended up putting out news that was utterly false, to millions of followers and readers.

'Fighting' in a place that doesn't exist

Tempers seemed to be simmering down when Pakistan's army chief ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest on Tuesday of Safdar Awan, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

A day earlier there had been a major rally against the government of Pakistan's current Prime Minister Imran Khan in Karachi, an opposition stronghold which is the capital of Sindh province.

But later on Tuesday night a hitherto unknown account tweeted that a fight between troops and police had broken out, with tanks on the streets of Karachi and at least five casualties.

It's unclear who sent this initial tweet. Despite extensive digging by the BBC, it was not possible to establish who operates the Twitter account named @drapr007.

An hour later, the account tweeted again, this time saying: "#BREAKING: Heavy firefight between Pak Army and Sindh Police is going on in Gulshan e Bagh area of #Karachi..."

Those familiar with Karachi would know there is no area there by that name - but most readers would not.

Nor had there been any fighting, or tanks seen on the streets.

However, news of the "civil war" then spread rapidly. A deadly blast in Karachi which turned out to have been caused by a gas leak added fuel to the rumours.

They were picked up by verified individuals and major Indian media outlets such as CNN18, Zee News and India Today.

One user with a verified account, Prashant Patel - whose bio says is an advocate of the Supreme Court of India - went on to put out a series of tweets where he made claims about a "civil war situation" in Karachi, deaths of policemen and soldiers, Prime Minister Imran Khan ordering patriotic songs to be played on the radio, and even the impending arrival of the US Navy in the port of Karachi.

Video purporting to show the clashes was shared by an account under the name of International Herald.

The dark and blurry video shows young men walking towards a building with fire visible to one side. They are seen throwing stones and shouting slogans, seemingly against Pakistan's army chief. The BBC was unable to tell if the video had been doctored, or even shot in Pakistan at all.

'Co-ordinated disinformation'

Mainstream Pakistani media outlets were quick to challenge the Indian media claims with fact-checks.

And Twitter users in Pakistan have had a field day ridiculing the reports, using hashtags such as "CivilwarKarachi", "fakenews" and "Indianmedia" trending on Twitter along with humorous posts and memes.

Renowned singer and actor Fakhr-e-Alam tweeted: "Karachi civil war has gotten so bad that my food panda delivery boy had to crawl through mine fields carrying his AK47, RPG & 9mm along with my nihari and Biryani. This thing is getting so serious."

Writer Bina Shah said: "I live in Karachi, where I just did my groceries, visited the bakery, bought some clothes and came home. If there's a civil war out there I couldn't find it."

Some called the reports a case of "co-ordinated disinformation" by Indian media.

Hartosh Singh Bal, political editor of one of India's most respected news magazines The Caravan told the BBC: "There's a section of media in both countries which is essentially busy playing games, and what they do has little to do with journalism.

"It is so biased that it does not make sense."

Another senior Indian journalist who did not want to be named said projecting a divide between the army and police in Pakistan would fit into the Indian narrative of a Pakistan in decline.

"A quick study of Twitter handles tweeting this misinformation will show that most of them are supporters of or affiliated to the ruling party."

Arslan Khalid, who advises Imran Khan on digital strategy, said it was not the first time that Indian media had run a co-ordinated disinformation campaign against Pakistan.

He questioned Twitter's commitment to its guidelines.

Despite repeated attempts, the BBC was unable to obtain a response from Twitter regarding its policies on fake news.

Indian media needs to be a little smarter with their propaganda against Pakistan. Blatant fake news like this will hurt whatever little credibility they have left.

Amen.

While some Indian media outlets (Indian Express, Hindu etc) are still very responsible, it is sad to see how so many of them are into cacophonous rabble rousing of the worst kind.

As a person who has seen Indian media of exceptional quality during the 1980s and 1990s, it pains me very much to see how low things have fallen.

I think this is just another episode that proves you cant believe anything that comes from across the border. But why is this happening? I think their is a genuine desire and project to cause civil strife in Pakistan and kill as many innocent Pakistanis as possible. There is no doubt about this. Its also needed to distract and confuse their own population that is suffering from poverty and covid. Wave the Pakistani boogey at them and keep them from asking Modi sarkar the hard questions..

Indians have also started to spread this false news on sites sych as Qoura. Then some naive Pakistanis think that we can have friendship with such hateful people who want oir destruction.

Honestly they might even have pulled it off if they didn't go so overboard and also picked a region of the country that WASN'T THE LARGEST CITY AND WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF LITERATE SOCIAL MEDIA USERS :uakmal:uakmal:uakmal

Indians played themselves, suppose if same propaganda was started for ex-FATA region, AJK or remote parts of Baluchistan then Pakistanis won't have been able to counter it so hilariously.

:ds

I hear there are elections in Bihar so obviously Pakistan is back on Indian screens.

I think Pakistan is one of those states because it is so secretive a la North Korea it is easy to start these rumors. Obviously we see a lot of expat Pakistanis not living in Pakistan dispelling it thankfully but I guess usually over the top rumors start when it comes to such secretive countries.

Also Pakistan government has had credibility issues. While I don’t believe this news, may be about time for Pakistan media and government to start being more transparent to counter India’s propoganda and fake news

Let’s see, where was OBL found? What happened to the guy who helped finding OBl?

Why was the war on terror happening and who was the main accused?

Whose father of nuclear programme was “accused” of selling sensitive info to other hostile nations?

By the Way hope you don’t think all these are Indian conspiracy theories.

How many democratic elections have happened in Pakistan since 1947?

Indians have become dumb over the years, they use to be decent people generally.

Wow after Aamir Liaquat, the Indians have now claimed Ahad Raza Amir. If this continues we won’t have any actors left. Someone save our actors from the Indian army.

The Pakistan Army's top brass on Tuesday expressed the resolve to take necessary measures to safeguard Pakistan’s territorial integrity in the face of "malicious propaganda" by the Indian military, the army's media wing said.

The resolution in this regard was expressed during the 244th Corps Commanders Conference chaired by Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ.

The commanders undertook a comprehensive review of the evolving security situation in the region, with a particular focus on border management and internal security, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.

The forum was apprised of the measures being taken to "thwart nefarious designs of inimical forces to destabilise Pakistan and spoil the hard-earned peace and stability", the press release said.

While taking serious note of the "malicious propaganda by Indian military", the meeting expressed the resolve to take all necessary measures to protect Pakistan’s territorial integrity.

"The baseless propaganda only reflects their frustration and an attempt to divert attention from their internal contradictions especially gross human rights violations being committed in [Indian-occupied Kashmir]," Gen Bajwa remarked.

The conference also expressed concern over the brewing humanitarian-cum-security situation in Afghanistan, concluding that "meaningful engagement and sustained support by the international community is imperative for paving way for peace and stability in Afghanistan and the larger region," according to the ISPR.

In his comments, the army chief appreciated the operational preparedness of army formations and their focus on training, in addition to enhanced collaboration with foreign militaries and the conduct of joint exercises in the operational and counterterrorism domains.

While Priyanka Gandhi got arrested without any charges and without having access to an attorney, the Indian media is harping on about Pakistan army being divided into two groups.

One (larger) group is supporting Faiz Hameed, "The Qasab of Panjsher", while the other portion is supporting Bajwa "The mastermind of Kartapur".

And Bajwa is now taking orders from Hameed while Naveed Anjum did a coup and took over the DG ISP Chief.

I mean, what a comedy !!

India always uses Pak as a means to deflect it's own problems and fool it's people. This endless farmers protest could lead to something big instead they are worried about things that don't concern them. Who leads the ISI has nothing to do with them at all neither have they any control over Pak the military that is united like always, our soldiers don't show burnt roti's on social media like Indian soldiers do.

Now Sidhu is going mad as well. Just one major figure particularly a Sikh murdered in this farmers protest could put Indian Punjab on fire. They can not blame Pak for this ridiculous and another stupid decision that Modi has taken no matter how much they attempt to do so. I say to Indian people worry about your own country instead of poking your nose in to ours.

Just yesterday another attack in IoK killed a few more people tells us the standards of the Indian military yet they think they can take on the might of China. This is the same China who keeps going deeper in to Indian territory.

Modi is taking orders from the USA to mess with the dragon that is for sure.

Don't anyone tell me Indian's feel remorse when some violent or terror related event takes place in Pakistan. Rather they are excited and happy whenever such incidents are taking place that can be seen on their news channels. On Indian forums they celebrate whenever such things happen in Pak.

I love seeing the farmers protests getting out of hand in India as well as all the other issues staring them on the face. The Indian Muslim's who always opposed the creation of Pakistan are being put in their place regularly now by their Hindu brothers. It is no longer even news to see Indian Muslim's being murdered daily in secular India.

Now Indian people know how we feel. Serves you all right!

It is hilarious but to put it in perspective, you are talking about a country which believes Unicef has declared Indian PM as the best and Unesco has declared Indian national anthem as the best.
