30th match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore (night)

RCB v Kolkata Knight Riders

Match scheduled to begin at 20:00 local time (14:30 GMT | 17:30 AST)

IPL, 30th match: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kolkata Knight Riders at Bangalore

Why no thread for this match?
RCB lost toss batting first.
Gayle hits a six and gets out next ball
Again pressure on Kohli and Rahul (ABD later on, Watson is aging) and you have that "zero" bowling killing the RCB Batsman's mind always and hence lack of freedom!

As much as I like Gayle, he should be dropped for the next match and make way for Jordan. It's very saddening to see him perform like this even in his favourite format. Actually, even after Gayle got out, there isn't much difference. RCB can still easily score 200+ with in form Rahul, Kohli batting and ABD, Watson to come in next. From what I have seen, Watson is bowling well and so is Shamsi. But the rest were very poor. Jordan would make the bowling attack a bit stronger.

RCB management is an emotional one. They don't believe in building a team with timely players, they just first construct a team with full fire-power and then check for lesser mortals to fill in the gaps

Not our fault if people aren't willing to use search button :)

CricketAnalyst You see this, good test players like raul and vijay can easily adjust to the t20 format, where as great t20 hacks can never adjust to test cricket. This is why test cricket is always the superior and most important format. Those windies hacks who won the world cup won't be able to put bat to ball in the real game whereas even a poor t20 player like pujara can become a decent t20 bat if given a chance

First time im seeing Virat playing the reverse sweep :suprised:

Dios I tried to respond to your comments about Kohli's dismissal off Mustafizur but the thread was closed. Taking a wicket of Kohli once in 7 or 8 games is not much. Kohli tried to smash him and got caught. ANyay, I stand by my comments that the more games batsmen play against Fizz, the easier it will become. Having said that, Fizz is no mug either and can definitely contain runs. It is difficult to slog off him. This is phase 1 where the batsmen have learnt to survive against him. Fizz is not getting many wickets because of that. Phase 2 will be where the batsmen will leran to score off him. It takes more practice against him and IPL is facilitating that. It's similar to what we've seen with Mendis.

Rahul seems to be scoring in almost every game. Havent seen his batting today. Was he any good?

Gambhir's ruing now that the Umpires have mugged this up. Sloppy from the Umpires

WTH is wrong with some people calling Sachin Baby a youngsta beauty, he is 27 FGS, he is almost half as old as :srini

BTW, looks like Narine isn't as effective as he was before.

Ummi Yadav bowling 145 kph lollypops. Brianless guy TBH

Anybody see Rahul opening for our LOI team in the near future?

Top knock today.

Looks very impressive. Why wasn't he playing vs South Africa in recent test series and do u think he will be playing in upcoming series vs West Indies. I personally think him and Vijay should be opening.

I think the same too. It's just that eventhough Dhawan is a glorified hack who can't bat for his life overseas, he is a pretty good player of spin and will bully attacks in Asia. If he gets going, he'll add many runs at a fast rate and that's one thing going for him. I personally think Rahul should get more chances (although he is a compulsive puller) because he is a class batsman who is technically correct than someone like Dhawan who has got the most unIndian wrists.

And I've been really impressed with his last 2 knocks in the IPL. He may well turn out to be a Rahane in LOIs or this may be a turning point in his LOI career. We have to wait and see which one is true.

Msd what's stuck with dhwan for a long time though, but Rahul deserves a chance u do need some batsmen who can take the pressure of virat a bit. Ms has stuck by Raina yuvraj and dhwan for too long when there are some players who deserve a chance.

Bangla fans must be very happy now. Shakib's competitors Lynn, Narine have been woeful. Shakib will likely play the next match.

Shakib should always play for KKR. There's simply not enough quality on their bench to justify him being dropped. Shakib has an economy rate of 6.4 this season which is the best among the spinners. He hasn't been spectacular but he has quietly gotten the job done with the ball especially considering that he is used early and at the death by Gambhir. His batting has been woeful but he should be picked on his bowling alone. And it's just a matter of one innings for him to come good with the bat. On the other hand who is Lynn? He is not good enough to even be in Australia's third XI. My point exactly with regards to IPL's obsession with Australians. As for Narine it was only a matter of time that batsmen started to get used to his new action and taking advantage of the drop in pace and smashing him. Shakib, Russell and Morkel should never be dropped from this KKR side and the fourth overseas slot should be up for grabs depending on conditions.

India should stop giving chances after chances to ageing players like Yuvraj and Raina and give more chances to youngsters like KL Rahul and Manish Pandey.

Gayle makes it hard ti support him on consistant basis

TBH we want shakib to spend time off field due to poor batting form. no BD really care about shakib anymore, all eyes on Mustafiz though.

Agree with you though to some extent. Shakib should either take wickets or score some runs. Just being economical in bowling wouldn't give much confidence to the captain. That's why he was dropped and a better hitter like Lynn was picked. But he has been no better than him going by his performance. At least Shakib was containing runs which is what badly needed for KKR as they are leaking way too many runs at the end. Narine has been very ineffective after his remodelled action. Shakib can play just as a specialist spinner for KKR now even if doesn't contribute much with the bat.

Pathan is suicidal tonight. Looks like man on mission

Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav - these are the kinds of bowlers you pray not to depend on if you are the captain.

That's it for RCB this season. Better luck next year. It's just a waste of time and painful to support you guys. I am giving up on RCB. Supported both Pune and RCB this season. Both have disappointed me.

Just noticed there is a player named Sachin Baby :)))

Need to get rid of every single bowler barring Starc and then start again RCB!

David Warner.

I think Indian team overlooked Stuart Binny's bowling. If they just concentrated on utilizing him as a batsman, he would have done better than Jadeja (as a batsman) Jadeja's fielding would have anyhow been available as reserve fielder in the squad. RCB did/doing the same mistake in not utilizing his batting. Rajastan Royals in the past utilized him batter. The main thing for RCB is Kohli & other batsmen should forget the fear of fall of wickets and just try to make the most use of the overs by hitting. Let the fall of wickets go to 8 or even all out. As anyhow they are losing the matches.

RCB's bowling has become even weaker with Kohli's captaincy. He is behaving like an audience on the field (oh! Frustration! Anger! etc) forgetting that even he is the part of the team. How can the players be motivated. And his bowling changes & utilization also has question marks. If IPL is any yardstick for Indian Cricket, then it should be known that India will have tough time under Kohli's captaincy. He not only lacks the captaincy skills like Sachin but also loses calmness (At least Sachin controlled his mind and also Sachin was handling some poor teams).
