Cunha , Mbeumo and Amad are a brilliant front 3. After years Utd now finally have proper attackers but need to upgrade the defenders. Shaw should be nowhere the team, a liability.

You will struggle to score many goals until they return so its imperative the defence improves.
 
Some interesting PL games this weekend. I am going to throw in some predictions.

Newcastle vs Chelsea
1-2

Spurs vs Liverpool
2-2

Villa vs Utd
3-0
 
Cracking game between Newcastle and Chelsea. High tempo, tackles flying in.
 
City look Ruthless. Their attack is incredible, it somehow masks their shaky defending.

For the first time i will say Arsenal have their work cut out.

City by far the best footballing team in the PL. They can score plenty against anyone. It was clear to see weeks ago this team is now back to its best . Arsenal fans were laughing at any City challenge this season, now they are pretty worried .


Arsenal should beat an Everton side without its two best players. A few home matches will also help them . They need to win a few in a row now to keep up with City

Yes Ndiaye is a big miss. Class act.
 
Everton played well enough to deserve a point imo . Arsenal continue to struggle finding goals from their striker . Giving him a penalty may help his confidence but can’t change his height or finishing ability .

A big game for both sides . Utd without Amad and brother Mb will struggle away at Vila Park . 3 points for Villa again imo

Two worldies from Morgan Rodgers has Villa ahead. To be honest, Utd have controlled majority of the game so far. Even without alot of players missing, and Bruno going off injured

Excellent Result for utd. Performance wise, a game of Two halves. First half Good, second half very negative without really being tested. If Newcastle had decent wingers, we could have been in trouble.
 
Villa beat Chelsea 2-1.

Villa we're poor for 60 mins, then 3 sub changed the game and they won the game

City fought hard against a determined Notts but winning late was always on .

Villa were incredible in that second half , dominated the home team to make it 11 wins in a row .

Arsenal made it tough against an out of form Brighton but were the better team overall . 4 out of the last 6 were own goals which is a big concern against top 6 teams esp if they go behind .

City will get between 86-90 points imo . Can’t see anyone coming close to this in a competitive season .

City sign Semenyo, then they will take some stopping.

Arsenal big players need to step up and thrive under the challenge. In the past few seasons, when the going got tough they were found wanting. Surely this season, they have to get the Monkey of the back!

Very true and if Arsenal do not win it....actually forget it, it is not like they are universally proclaimed as bottlers....

Arsenal need to do themselves justice as a big club!
 
Big 45 mins for Arsenal . At home with the crowd in full support a historic opportunity to set down a strong response by beating 3rd place on a winning streak. Premier league winning teams needs big players to step up . Saka is the key , the rest look easy to contain.

Emery is once again showing a masterclass in coaching , his players are fully locked into his strategy and tactics. Villa will be happy with a draw but too much time wasting and not scoring on the break could cost them .

Pressure is on Arsenal

I think it’s a done deal . City have the best attackers by far , if their defence holds up , rarely will they drop points .

I agree but they don’t have a genius or legend , someone has to step up . Saliba and Gabriel are the stars but may need to score too now
 
Too passive from Villa , keeper to defence . Big win for Arsenal , deserved .

Wolves get their first point since October apparently.

This manager for Manchester United just constantly sabotages this team. It’s crazy. The line up, the subs, the random taking off of players, the strange tactics. I don’t understand.

It just feels so unreal. Man United aren’t even doing badly. 6th is probably above what expected. But when you look what Amorim is doing out there it’s difficult to give him credit.

Agree , much more organised but I watched the 2nd half , Utd were very poor . Wolves had a great chance to win it . The manager underestimated Wolves, changing the system and then left clueless .
 
Great news, city drew against Sunderland. The fixture overload is getting to everybody but the trip to Stadium of Light has proved to be difficult for everyone this season. Not a terrible result for city.

I expected them to give City a tough time but was a little skeptical because Ballard wasn’t there in the lineup.

You must not be enjoying this but wow what a show by Sunderland this year in epl considering how promoted teams tend to perform and go straight back. Surely no promoted team is fighting for European places in their first year back in epl.

Yeah, the sooner they drop the better, I work with a few Mackems and they are beyond insufferable 🤣

They are a strange side, very solid and resilient but they massively ride their luck. They have the lowest xG in the league yet sit 7th in the table

Last 2 games at home they've conceded 9 big chances but only conceded the 1 goal

I'm hoping their luck runs out soon

Interesting stats. They are dong really well for their xG. They came in prepared for the season. Acquisitions like Xhaka suggest that they are in no mood to go down soon.

@ads101 United have the highest xG in the league. I know you don’t love Amorim but what do you think about that?

It does puzzle me. Stats are misleading. But perhaps it’s to do with them taking a lot of shots outside the box. I think a lot of the shots aren’t particularly threatening. And you’re often giving the ball away if you fail which modern teams don’t like doing. And man united don’t look good going forward. I said before, I actually think some of the players and signings have been decent. Hence the league position, coupled with the fact no European football and generally low standard of the league this year.

Bruno, Cunha and Mbeumo especially are quality players. Who will create chances. But I think that’s more on them than the manager.

Defense wise even in Amorim’s defensive formation, it is very weak.

Biggest thing is general, it’s hard to recall a game where you can say Amorim influenced that game in a positive way. E.g. got his tactics right, the team looked disciplined, good subs etc. When United do score or pull off wins it’s often throwing caution to the wind, freestyle football. His formation hasn’t worked, and it looks like now he’s open to changing it. Kind of proof he has failed, given how stubborn he was about it in the past.

Whereas there are plenty of games where you can think of Amorim sabotaging his own side. Let alone just generally being poor. There’s loads of bad ones. But especially that Everton game and Europa league final. He’s actually bottling those games for United.

But the league is weak this year. United have. 8 wins, 6 draws, 5 losses. They aren’t even winning most of their games. Every team from 5th to 13th has either 7 or 8 wins. And only a 4 point gap between 5th and 13th. While Aston Villa in 3rd have 12. It’s a big drop off from 3rd to the rest. If man united were playing European football, they could quite easily be a few points worse, and in the lower half of the table.
 
Man City slipped up again!

Arsenal with a relatively easy match tomorrow against a club that has been in a relegation battle this season, an 8 point lead at this stage is almost too good to be true, even they cannot blow that, surely!
 
@Technics 1210 fair play to Brentford so far this season, after selling two strikers and losing manager. I thought ud end similar to Southampton and be relegated.

Again uve managed to find two strikers to get you goals.

Now your just behind a Liverpool team who has spent 500K this summer and was supposedly unstoppable and scary according their plastic fan base.

So, this forum is used for sweeping generalisations, some times i do wonder re where the world is headed with the lack of logic that is out there!

It is an easy game for Arsenal... your words ... "relegation battle", own your words- you impress that on others- hypocrisy is not a good look.

Arsenal are universally proclaimed as the bottlers but you need to actually interact with people to know that as opposed to stick your head in the sand and label another club with it, who, are NOT universally proclaimed as the bottlers... it must hurt... fair or not fair but Arsenal have that tag.
