What's new

Liverpool FC 2025/26 Season

Poor stuff from Salah. I did suspect Liverpool's bad form may have stemmed from Slot losing the dressing room.

Not sure about slot losing the dressing room though. I reckon it's a combination of new players taking longer than expected to settle at the club and off course the biggest issue for me is the drop off in form of their Two rocks of consistency VVD and Salah. No one would have expected the latter, which has really scrambled Slots thinking and tactics and a muddled Philosophy.

Tonight has proved my point - everyone put in a shift defensively and we kept a clean sheet. Forget entertaining football, focus on being hard to beat for time being.

You cannot defend with 10 men. Teams worked it out second half of last season and first half of this season.

After all the recent drama, there was tons of pressure on us tonight but we finally showed some backbone. Brighton are an excellent team so another tough test awaits.

Baldy gets another week thanks to Bastoni. It was a very soft penalty.

Back to system employed by managers 15-20 years ago. I think I fell asleep watching at one point.

About time we got a decision. We've had some shockers against us recently.

IMO we should continue with this system as leaking goals has been our biggest problem. That was like a typical Euro away under Houllier and Benitez.

We did look solid and no alarm bells from Konate. I thought Jones was superb in that midfield role. He looks to have matured this year and looks to pass the ball on much quicker now.

More so, the Konate goal that was denied was a very soft decision.

Wirtz shirt pull was clearly not a Pen and the Konate goal should have stood.

This was a good win beating inter at the san siro is an excellent result team looked solid , if this style works for slot he needs to stick to it i dont see salah fitting into this system a shame but then there's no point beating about the bush offload in January but hopefully the departure can come with some hugs and reconciliation

Now its Brighton a tough team and it's the premier league where we have look suspect at the back

Above and beyond I don't know what is to laugh about like nunez ,slot doesn't see salah in his system and his tactics and style of football .

Salah worked in klopps system but they are 2 different managers.

Now question is can slot stop the rot in the premier league ?

And can he go on and be able to compete and win trophies or at least make sure liverpool be a continous top 4 finish and atm the way this season is going out the jury is out .

But obviously our owners want to cash in on salah since those funds and wage bill saved will most likely fund the moves for semenyo and guehi.

Inter's slow play, slow pressing was just what we needed. Liverpool played well enough to win , which was badly needed for the club. Win the remaining home games, top 8 is very possible.

Brighton will be a tougher test.

I presume you didnt watch any of last season?

Salah had his best season ever, and that was under Slot. The issue with Salah this season is both related to his own form and the integration of the new players which requires chemistry to build cohesion.

Salah had his best season because Slot had no input into the team, he was following Klopp's blueprint with players he had left behind. The moment he has stepped away from that this season, we can see what his true abilities are. They won yesterday because Inter was content in not pressing hard. That will not be the case against Brighton. And also, let's be honest, playing the style from 20 years ago, will not win you anything these days. It never did us then either apart from cups here and there.

Thats ridiculous. Klopp didnt exactly set the world on fire. One Title in Nine seasons. Since winning the Title in covid, he was rather disappointing. Actually, Slot winning the title further undermined klopp, what he couldn't do for four seasons, this guy did in his first season.

Liverpool conceding late late goals in alot of their recent defeats is down to the concentration levels of the Players than on Slot in my opinion.

Stats suggest if Salah wasnt in the team last season, Liverpool would have finished in the bottom half. Of course another player could have scored /assisted a few but not to his level. He was just phenomenal.

It seems Slot is still trying to figure out a method of playing. Klopp played 4-3-3 with high press, high energy football. Slot has played 4/5 different formations, chopping and changing players, continue to play players who are in terrible form because of the high spend. He's lucky he has some quality world class players who try hard and even with a confused manager they can win the odd matches.

I'd be shocked if Slot wins another major trophy a LFC.

Indeed. Salah literally won a PL title for Liverpool on his own, much like Cantona did in some years at united. Slot looks a lost soul after spending £400 million, replacing quality proven PL players with unproven ones. Only Ekitike looks a decent buy.

Watching yesterday reminded me of Houllier and Benitez days. No titles will be won playing that these days, nor did we back then either.

‘clueless manager’ won league in his first year because ‘Salah won the league on his own’

We can agree Salah should not have gone to the press…however Carragher went overboard and made it a personal vendetta. Can’t stand him. Insufferable to listen to.

Erm won carabao cup , and fa cup

Lost the title by a whisker to man city

And lost a final to real Madrid

All in 2022

He simply came up against a heavy spending top man city side he had to compete against guardiola at his best.

Plus he was never backed the sameway these yanks have blown transfer records for baldy from feynoord and even those signings make nunez look like Maradona.

Liverpool parade attacker jailed for more than 21 years for ploughing car into fans

A British man who injured more than 130 people by ploughing his car into a crowd of Liverpool soccer fans during May's Premier League victory parade was jailed for 21-and-a-half years on Tuesday, after admitting 31 criminal charges over the incident.

Paul Doyle drove into the mass of fans – hitting adults and children, who bounced off his vehicle or were dragged underneath it – simply because he lost his temper, prosecutors said.

He last month pleaded guilty to charges including nine counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and 17 counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Prosecutor Paul Greaney on Monday said Doyle was "a man in a rage whose anger had completely taken hold of him" when he injured 134 people including eight children, causing horror on "a day of joyfulness".

His lawyer Simon Csoka told the court Doyle was "remorseful, ashamed and deeply sorry". He also cited positive character references from those who knew Doyle, saying: "It is part of the paradox of this case ... they all find his actions incomprehensible and so utterly unlike the man that they know."

Doyle, 54, sat in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court as Judge Andrew Menary said: "It is almost impossible to comprehend how any right-thinking person could act as you did.

"To drive a vehicle into crowds of pedestrians with such persistence and disregard for human life defies ordinary understanding."

UKRAINIAN SAYS SHE LOST SENSE OF SAFETY SHE FELT IN UK

Greaney told the court on Monday that around a million people had come out to celebrate Liverpool's 20th English league title, watching an open-top bus parade featuring the team and its staff with the Premier League trophy.

Doyle drove into the city centre to pick up friends who had been to the parade before. At nearly 6 p.m., in an attack lasting 77 seconds, he ploughed into the crowd while shouting, swearing and beeping his horn as he repeatedly struck pedestrians.

One of Doyle's victims was Anna Bilonozhenko, who was struck by his Ford Galaxy and required surgery for a fractured knee, and who had left Ukraine for Britain in 2024.

"We came to this country because of the war in our homeland, hoping to finally feel safe," she said in a statement read on her behalf. "At first, we did but now that feeling has been taken away ... it feels like losing our safety all over again."

Others who were caught up in the incident described the long-term effects on themselves and their loved ones, saying they were unable to work, care for their families, be in crowded places or watch Liverpool.

PROSECUTORS AND JUDGE HAIL LIFE-SAVING 'HERO'

Doyle was briefly a member of the Royal Marines in the early 1990s before being discharged after several convictions for violence, though prosecutors said that by the time of the incident he was a "family man" who had turned his life around.

It was another former soldier, Daniel Barr, who stopped Doyle's vehicle by jumping into the back of the car and putting it into park, actions Menary said were "outstandingly brave" and prevented further injuries and possibly saved lives.

Specialist Prosecutor James Allison, of the Crown Prosecution Service Mersey Cheshire's Complex Casework Unit said Barr was "a man who can truly be described as a hero".

Barr, however, said in an interview with the BBC before Doyle was sentenced that he was not a hero and every man he saw "was trying to do the same."
