Crappy Idea of opening with a rookie spinner on Chinnaswamy Pitch! Kohli's captaincy can keep getting worse... (I mean even if Vettori is coaching/advising him so)

Kohli has been a crappy captain so far. Look at the team he has and look at the way he's leading it

Huge sigh of relief for RCB! No more threats in Pune line up (Aged Dhoni, RCB discarded batsmen Sourabh Tiwary, Bailey, flashy Perera...)

Bhuvanesh bats better than this technique-less #3 batsman of Pune

Rahane will ensure Pune's loss.. Expecting 50 (40) from him..

Rahane you idiot  Can't play and won't let others play

Can't understand the hate he is getting from some people. Come on he has scored 5 fifties in this IPL at a decent strike rate for an opener. It's others who have failed to give him support and eventually Pune couldn't win few matches which they should have won. Pune's NRR is pretty good despite being lost many matches. That shows they have lost some close matches.

Yes, if he loses this match also (somehow) against this team, then big blame should go to his captaincy (more than his team)

Can't understand the hate he is getting from some people. Come on he has scored 4/5 fifties in this IPL at a decent strike rate for an opener. That shows they have lost some close matches.

He has to score quicker. 60 (46) is not going to win you matches at Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore..

Breakdown his scores in match context and see.

He has no ability to change the course of a game.

Take last game for example.

He won Man of the Match which was deserved but there was a point when him and Dhoni were in the middle and both were struggling. Dhoni SR was 92.

Rahane would swat the ball but only get a single. He was striking at 120-130 at that time (which was a pretty good SR)

But he kept on batting at his pace regardless of match situation.

If Dhoni and Perera hadn't slogged in the last game, Rahane would have remained not out and Pune would have lost the game.

His knock against RCB last time was atrocious too. Decent SR but no regards to the match situation. It was Perera and Bhatia who brought the game close. Dhoni was too garbage in that RCB game which is why the focus on Rahane wasn't there in that game.

This is the first time I am watching Rahane from close quarters in IPL and I have to say NO ONE frustrates me more than him (maybe only Dhoni but even I would trust an over the hill Dhoni more for tense situations). But Pune needs Rahane's runs cos if he gets out, the other lulloos can't even score. But that doesn't mean he does his job. He just motors along regardless of the situation.

Rahane should have a look at Bangalore Opener KL Rahul who is doing much better than him (even KL Rahul's batting is not sufficient to ensure wins for RCB). That's why RCB is missing Gayle's form so badly. If Gayle had given 1 or 2 single handed wins, then momentum would have carried on RCB's way and other players would have collectively won some more matches. Even ABD magic is not working right this year. Kohli's captaincy is affecting his batting also.

Then just drop him. He can't play at a strike rate better than that. The fact is no one is capable of replacing him. That's why he is playing and giving good starts. Others batsmen have to capitalize the starts he is giving and utilise those to make good totals for the team. It's a team sport. Not one individual's.

The IPL's still going on...

Some rubbish Rugby keeps happening and Baseball (such a crude format compared to Cricket). I hate those, that doesn't mean they should not be playing!

You can't drop Rahane.

No one better than him in the team.

This is the price Pune has to pay for using up its budget on him.

Rahane would be a good fit in amongst explosive batsmen (a la Badrinath). He could stabilize collapse and be compelled to score faster when all others keep getting a move on.

What an awful day again for RCB! And why Rasool bowling again in the PP? Looks like even Dhoni capitalizes on this start and take the score towards 200. RCB batsmen may crumble again under pressure.

The IPL equivalent of rugby would be the Super XV and no one is interested in that.

Rahane hitting SIX says it all for RCB! (60 in 6 overs by Pune is almost game over for RCB)

U r correct. But u've to agree with the fact that this year's ipl has been going on for far too long. It has already lost quite a bit of its charm.

I have always been saying there is no need of two games against each other (1 home & 1 away). Or either pool the teams in two groups and have a shorter second round. BCCI should have done this (curtailing the number of matches) very early after 1 or 2 editions. Then they could have conveyed that the earlier editions were long in order to reach out audience & hence modified to avoid redundancy. Now BCCI is not giving up because they fear people may think that IPL has lost its charm!

That's not the reason.

More games = More money.

My prediction.

These two will find it difficult to score boundaries from now on and one of them will get out in 13-15th over and then Dhoni walks out to bat and plays like this is his debut match and gets out in 20th over to put a score of around 170, only to lose the match in the end.

:)))

True. Can never rule that out.

Today RCB will win no matter how many Pune put on the board.

Not necessarily. They look like winning very much in the previous match also. Actually Pune's bowling is much better than their batting (and of course RCB's bowling), don't be surprised if they can be able to defend their total!

Battle of 2 minnow bowling attacks.

A good possibility of Zampa embarrassing Ashwin today. :))

Pune doesn't have a minnow bowling attack, their batting can be said so (but even that is clicking against RCB today! Very much in fact). RPS is very much in this game and have an upper hand! Dhoni can still blast on an odd day (and today it could well be!)

Worst display of fielding in any IPL so far. Usually IPL has pretty high standards of fielding.

Kohli may as well play without fielders and WK, it wont make a difference

Can't believe there is still so many league games to be played.

I mean I still can't understand how a rookie spinner Rasool (not even represented once and dropped from National Team) bowl 2 overs in powerplay, when Jordan is specifically brought to strengthen the bowling (he has bowled only 1 over so far!)

Somebody like Sourabh Tiwary is gaining confidence! That shows RCB's bowling and Kohli's captaincy

Being held back for a 3 over spell at the death I believe. That's the area he specialises in really.

Might not work straight away in the first match when he has not yet had the feel of situations of late... At the most 1 or 2 dot balls, set batsman & sloggers can still take him apart if the scoreboard-pressure is healthy.

At least Travis Head could have kept wickets (His cricinfo profile says Wicket Keeper)

Rahane must be the prettiest Indian batsman to watch currently

Your prediction is going wrong, unless there is severe collapse and loss of momentum we are looking at 190-200 here and RCB will be under sever pressure (with clouds gathering up, batting could become difficult under twilight! Always feel batting first is better for 4 PM matches)

I can't watch Rahane.

Playing cheeky shots instead of slogging or getting out.

Damn it yaaaaaaaaaaaar

Atleast GET OUT.

Tiwari you too.

Both their bowling and batting is garbage.

They are well on their way to post one of the big totals of this season. Yes they should hurry up and give way for other big hitters.

Games without viewership = Less Money (Remember how Champions T20 got sacked. BCCI was aiming that as second big source of revenue)

Not really.

More games = More ads = More money.

Champions League got cut off due to falling TRPs (that too for non IPL teams). So it was opportunity cost for BCCI. Now there will be something else in its place in a couple of years,

I don't why Dhoni keeps promoting himself when clearly there are the likes of Perera who can can strike better than him these days right from the start. It would only make the team's score about 10 runs less than they should have got. Dhoni comes out to bat as if he is going to hit from the first ball itself when actually he starts hitting in the 20th over.

Last game Perera hit probably the best T20 spinner in the world (Tahir) for 2 sixes in 3 balls.

Chahal is bowling with 5 balls to go.

Dhoni sends himself up and takes 4 ugly singles.

That is like missing a trick! With shortened tournament, BCCI can have 2(or even 3 with 1 overseas) bites in the year. I think people are no more interested in bilaterals & test cricket. These premier leagues (along with pure local/domestic cricket) themselves can be good preparation for world/international tournaments (which happens only once in 4 years so that it becomes such a mega event!). This is the model of other sports, BCCI can look ahead.

BCCI thinks differently.

It wants long IPL and short IPL in a year.

Is Steyn playing the IPL this year? I want to see him bowl to Amla.

It surely is going to rain in Bangalore (at least for half an hour! Not sure about how much in which regions) If the match is going to be curtailed, it is definitely going to help RCB.

RCB is 2nd last on the table :)))

I called it before IPL when i heard Kohli would be the leader.

RCB should fire him from captaincy ASAP and then you people will see the magic :)))

Score Beyond RCB's reach here! Kohli's chasing magic doesn't seem to work with Captaincy pressure (And we know what is ABD with chasing)

Death over specialist Jordan is taken to cleaners by a man like Rahane :))

You know you are a bad bowler when you concede a 6 to Rahane in the death

Rahane 74(47) @ 157 as opener is decent enough (Kudos to RCB bowlers & Kohli's captaincy - New ways of losing matches!)

How could RCB give so many runs to Pune?! They continue to bamboozle fans..

Kohli captaincy hasn't been great imagine if he captains India like this.

By making fun of Rahane & RPS batting, we have ended up seeing a mammoth total (RCB to chase under pressure being at the bottom of table & must win match)
