Kohli captaincy hasn't been great imagine if he captains India like this.

Rohit must be a better choice (as he anyhow is making the team in all formats), looks like he has calm influence and his batting is also not seems to get distracted with captaincy (in fact it improved in this IPL). Indian selection committee should make early calls before egos & jealousy gets into anybody's head.

Yes rohit has always impressed me as a captain I would keep kohli as test captain but in Odis I don't think he will be that successful for someone who is so good at batting tactically as captain he makes poor decisions. Raina has also done well but there's no certainty about his place in LOI

Playing for Guju Lions but not bowling.

Gonna watch Kings Xi games now buddy? :D

If you are CSK supporter, better follow Gujarat team (which has cream of CSK talent - Raina such a big impact for CSK, Bravo, D Smith, McCullum) Don't go with the aging Dhoni and soon Harbhajan-like fading Ashwin.

I tell 190 is huge even on Chinnaswamy with RCB Batting (the negative factors are clowdy weather under twilight and must-win pressure)

Yes they do what need is there for another ipl current one is too long anyway and affects the international schedule. BCCI don't want to play Pakistan in UAE but want to play a 2nd ipl there tells u how selfish BCCI is :misbah

Was there ever any doubt?

Don't worry BCCI may invite Pakistani players if they organize IPL in UAE/Sharjah! They won't miss out on the opportunity on added glamour/revenue (Let's hope Pakistan don't embarrass themselves by rejecting the offer & crib later)

Yes they should be allowed if it is in UAE. But this other ipl should be played in India since u are allowed to host it in your own country. But I forgot BCCI need to find ways to harm Pakistan cricket.

Wait a minute! Kohli's batting is being affected because of captaincy? Man he loves challenges and captaincy will only make him better. I still remember those 2 100s at Adelaide in Australia and he has been scoring runs consistently in this IPL.

I don't think BCCI is interested in this, its your (and PCB's) own illusion which is adding to the downfall. BCCI is just concentrating on its growth. PCB can think in its own way! They can counter BCCI by opening an international league in Sharjah/UAE before BCCI does it. They have all the opportunity for that! Can they super-tune their abilities & thinking, instead of just worrying about BCCI/India?

He missed out on a chase in this IPL, while he was so invincible under Dhoni! I know it is just an exaggeration :) Don't know what happens to his batting with captaincy but certainly his captaincy is not up there right now (I hardly remember any successful captain with so much Oohs & Aahs, Frustrations, Anger on the field and it is reflecting on the team's performance)

RCB is on their way (though its not guaranteed now) but should feel secured with good late order batting line up (Binny, Jordan...)

His captaincy hasn't been great. Agreed. But captaincy hasn't affected his batting whatsoever and he will make up for that failure today.

Why can't RCB play Gayle not as an opener (maybe at No.3 or 4) It will still play on the opposition's mind (Anyhow Travis Head's contribution today would be insignificant, he may likely be ineffective if the target is out of reach and a formality if RCB chases it down!)

So many people are complaining about his strike rate (and his decision to open). He was more assured (rather calculative) under Dhoni. More than anything it was giving fruits (Inference: Poor captaincy is indirectly fetching criticism for his batting also)

Rahul is rather sedate today (hopefully it will not cost RCB) Maybe he is eying on that 4 consecutive fifties. If he had played like in other matches, RCB would have been in much comfortable position now. But anyhow 90/0 in 10.3 overs chasing 191 is actually a better position to be in.

ABD should support Kohli here. He should not just hit a couple of sixes and then get out like he usually does when chasing.

Oh no ABD gone. Pune, Get Kohli's wicket and the match is yours. As simple as that.

Kohli's ease of handling Rajat Bhatia (most players find it difficult against him on these pitches) shows his class. He doesn't seem to have much weakness against any kind of pace (fast, medium, slow), variations (seam, swing, turn).

He did exactly that. And people tell he is greater than Kohli. Kohli has achieved more in the shorted span of time than ABD. Just ABD has this glam element in his batting.

And meanwhile Watson has made a merry (5 boundaries in 1 over - 20 Runs!!!) That should ease the pressure like anything!

RCB should go all over now for the kill (Like how KKR did to them). Similar pitch, similar situation (in fact even better position with just 2 wickets down and 2 proper batsmen in the middle)

Watson is going mad! (That's exactly what is needed with the reputation of RCB's lethal batting, they need to show up!)

LMAOO the Six distance measurement is in accurate. Watson's hits aren't 108Ms.

Bring on Zampa, take a risk. If not this over, the game is gone from the hands of CSK.

Wow! Kohli has made his announcement and put his signature back (Chasing) :)

Would Gayle coming now made any difference? (Apart from running between wickets) Carry him even as a liability, need not necessarily play him as opener. He could hit some lusty blows and send chills to the opposition.

This Head guy is only in the side because of his nationality and possibly the color of his skin

I miss Gayle when he gets going those sixes are mammoth.. But he's been out of form the entire tournament.. I think he still got few years of IPL left in him if he puts hard work in.

Atleast some Indians will know how it feels like to have Kohli as opposition

He scored a match winning 100 in BBL looked very good during that innings for t20s.. But yea being Aussie helps his cause I get..

I have run out of superlatives to describe Virat Kohli.

Privileged to be born in the same era as him so I could watch these kinds of innings with such regularity.

2 hundreds within the same season.. Is this guy crazy or what? :))) :)))

Ikr before this the start of this season everyone was saying Kohli doesn't perform in IPL like he does in internationals.. I was one of those who said and man how wrong had he proved all of us.. Wish he remains forever in his current form

I'm guilty of that too.. Oh boy, this guy keeps raising the bar..

T20 hundred itself is an achievement. Kohli's done it while chasing. Is it the first time ever?

Where is the thread about Dhoni being the only captain to stop Kohli? Want to bump that

Zampa 3 overs 16 runs 2 wickets.

Game changing spell. Pune on top.

Taken out of the attack for no reason.

Pacers get thrashed.

Then leggie comes at death and gives 18 runs to end a spell of 4-0-34-2.

What a criminal waste of an awesome bowler.

Take a bow Dhoni. Your captaincy has been spot on.

And 9379234924th case of 180-190ish score not being enough in Bangalore. Pune's bowling is pure crap but those extra runs 20 runs would have led to pressure and wickets.

With all being said, this was yet another magical knock by Kohli.

I don't mind Dhoni underbowling Ashwin today (not that its right) but he has been out of form and righties were attacking.

He could have given a few overs to guage stuff.

But to take off Zampa after his dream over is CRUEL.

Pune could have possibly buried RCB if Zampa had another over.

Dhoni is a great IPL captain (back in those days) but this whole myth of Dhoni being able to win with ANY bowlers is put to rest FINALLY.

Shocking batting.

Shocking bowling.

And shocking captaincy.

Someone ask this guy to retire.

Why does it need to be in UAE than? If they want to grow why not have this 2nd ipl I'm England or Australia countries who fans are not that interested in the ipl. Another. Ipl is not the only way grow its just another sign of greed from BCCI

Lool at that thread about kohli power game, it's his captaincy that is more of a worry than his batting. :kohli

Pune is probably out of the race.
RCB should make sure they win their next 2 matches which should keep them in good shape and not leave it late (they will miss out another playoff by narrow margin)

If you set aside this India-Pak clash/ego aside, you will understand the facts! Sharjah/UAE is the money hub for Cricket (after India). There are Indians and other sub-continent folks residing there well in number. The time zones are perfect (for TV viewership back in India). Organizing matches is flexible and easier on resources/management. Security is not an issue because of the in-built strong security structure in those countries (not just cricket, but as countries overall). Also IPL team owners will welcome UAE market with open hands (superb business opportunities). Get over this Indo/Pak ego (BCCI never has this, its focus is only on money). Earlier even BCCI was insisting on Indo-Pak matches/tours (e.g., Sahara Cup in Canada) again for financial reasons (the only resistance was from Govt/Political/Religious/Security reasons), but now BCCI has found other better ways to make money.

So the reason for this other ipl financial gain?

Cricket particularly leagues such as IPL is not only about winning/performing. It is also about legends coming together and adding glamour, drawing audience. It is about respecting the legends (That is why even guys like Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly, Kumble, etc. also played when they were well past their prime, age, what not...)

Most teams in this league are not even having a proper wicket keeper (Still Dhoni has such reflexes) and so many teams you feel lack so many kind of players (After all these are not full international teams, full-fledged teams - It is also about giving opportunities to youngsters, serving financial needs to seasoned cricketers who can't make it big like Bhatia, etc).

So you can't call for retirement of Dhoni based on his form, his captaincy (even a team like RCB is struggling with captaincy errors). And for national team, if India finds a better wicket-keeper, wicket-keeper-cum-batsman, captain, then automatically he will retired or be forced to retire.

Sensational chase by Virat

Another one man show n victory for his team.

Nothing else other than that (at least for BCCI). After all they have to run their body. They can't work on anything which doesn't give enough profits.

Where is [MENTION=2099]CricketAnalyst who said kohli doesn't have a power game and Dre Russel is better t20 player.
I would like to see Russel open the innings and chase 190+ whilst scoring a 100 at almost 200 SR.

It is actually the opinions out of frustration! Kohli needed some lusty hitters like Russel, Brathwaite in his team (either national or IPL team) to secure wins in some odd matches (though those matches can also be knockouts!) Its not his problem to not have such players in his team. He is just doing his job. If he had such players in his team (and add to that the lack of bowlers - both Indian Team and his RCB Team :)) See the co-incidence) his team would be invincible and almost unbeatable and he would enjoy 100X more luxury than Ricky Ponting and infinity times more achievements than Ponting (+Ponting with reincarnation). The same reason why Sachin also received criticism for not his fault! People should actually criticize Ponting, Mark Waugh and other guys for being part of a team which had finishers & co-players like Bevan, Symmonds, Hayden, Gilchrist and bowlers like McGrath, Gillespie, Warne. I think Careers of these players should be auto-reset to Zero because they had the luxury of such strong teams (I am just employing the opposite logic here)

Was talking about national team. Let him do whatever he wants in IPL.

That's an issue between him and his franchise employers.

Loool IPL gives them more than enough money furthermore they have enough series against England and Australia which boosts there finance further. Why affect our league?
