Pitting a world West Indies test XI from era of Clive Lloyd's captaincy in 1975 to Viv Richards in 1991.

My joint India-Pakistan XI of 1970s to 1980s to play West Indies XI of that era

Sunil Gavaskar

Majid Khan

Javed Miandad

Gundappa Vishwanath

Mohinder Amarnath

Mushtaq Muhammad

Kapil Dev

Imran Khan (C)

Wasim Akram

Abdul Qadir

Wasim Bari (W)

In sub-continent conditions I would select Bishen Bedi instead of Wasim Akram of that time and Dilip Vengsarkar instead of Mohinder Amarnath.

On fast Australian tracks or some in the Carribean I would back West Indies XI.However on seaming English tops I would give Indo-Pak XI the marginal edge.On flat pancakes Indo-Pak XI would be favourites in my view.Indo-Pak XI is more talented but the Calypsos have more match winners like Viv ,Greenidge or Marshall.Indo-Pak XI has more variety in bowling, genuine allrounders unlike their counterparts and more batting depth.Still it is the Calypsos who ae more explosive in batting and bowling.

I'll go with
1. Gavaskar
2. Majid Khan
3. Vengsarkar
4. Viswanath
5. Amarnath
6. Wasim Raja
7. Imran
8. Kapil
9. Mushtaq Mohammad
10. Saleem Yousuf (WK)
11. Akram

I would go with attack against WI. This side has very deep batting lineup. With Mushtaq Mohammad at No 9 capable of scoring century. Even Wasim Akram at No.11 hold a bat.

No 9 can replaced with Qasim to improve spin bowling.
No10 can be replaced by Kirmani to improve WK quality.

The biggest weakness in this side is 5th bowler. This load had be shared between Amarnath and Wasim Raja.

Good team but lack of quality paceman. No Miandad? Why?

Very good choice of Wasim Raja but preferred Miandad.Otherwise great team selection

If overall career is taken into consideration then Miandad would always feature in my Ind-Pak XI , but he massively under-performed vs WI. So no choice but to omit him out of my XI. Conversely though Wasim Raja was average player. He was on different level against WI.

Wasim Akram and Imran Khan are among Top 10 fast bowlers of all time. Kapil was world class vs West Indies. These trio should challenge West Indian batsman. A good 4th fast bowler would always going to a be issue unless Waqar Younis is picked on a technicality despite playing only 3 tests.

West Indies XI should win comfortably if game is outside of subcontinent.

In subcontinent, it can go either way.

Pakistan managed to draw a series in West Indies and West Indies drew series in Pakistan.

I don't know much about their record in India but I can guess they delivered legendary phaintas to everyone everywhere (except Pakistan).

So, I'd back the Pak/Ind joint XI to at least draw outside SC whilst winning competitively in SC.

This is a very tight bowling combination:
Kapil Dev

Imran Khan (C)

Wasim Akram

Abdul Qadir

this is the truth. west Indians will get crushed by a indo pak team comfortably.

Greatly disagree Clive Lloyd's men thrashed India in India 3-0 in 1983-84 and beat Pakistan convincingly in 1980.With Hoding Roberts and Garner and Lloyd adding to ranks they would still be favourites.Viv steam may have lost but unlikely Lloyd's.

West Indies comfortably.

In that period only two Indians would have got into the Pakistan team - Gavaskar and Kapil Dev.

I deeply differ .Lloyds men thrashed India and Pakistan on the sub-continent in the 1980's.

dint pakistam draw twice at home vs them? I am sure a step her indo pak team could dominate them. Not sure about away. Pakistam drew vs a weakened west indian side. So I can't say if a indo pak t3am can win away in indies.

would absolutely annihilate west indies at home and away.

It would only be fair to compare it to Windies pre 2000s XI.

It should be a good contest.
