Inside The Freemasons - Sky 1

gee what a surprise^

I was invited to join by a schoolmaster. Never met him again.

It's little more than a glorified rotary club albeit they do a fair amount of charitable work in the local community. However, members must get a real kick and laugh out of all the crazy conspiracy theories that are thrown around about them by Alex Jones types.

Apparently very little actually happens at the Freemason evenings.

Not that I dismiss the idea of hidden societies - I can picture that elite Judeo-Christian / white upper-class meeting of minds very easily - but I think such business is constructed to be much more secretive than that of the Freemasons, which is more of a gentlemen's social club.

From the few people i know who are openly masons, nowadays it's just on old boys club for local businessmen networking.

There are also many Muslim, Hindu and Sikh's that are members of their local lodges these days, the main emphasis is on making money.

If you want to meet a mason, go to your local rotery club, chances are the members are masons or affiliated.

Nope, have you? was it any good

Was like the opening day of a Test match on a flat wicket. They are a society of secrets, in their own words. And it is well known that those at the very top - the masters - are the ones who yield the power. They also acknowledge that they have machinations that allow people to progress quicker in life, so there is some power they instill that allows for them to manipulate.

Obviously what little was shown was very diluted. And nobody if a serious religious affiliation could be one as it conflicts with their concept and most certainly goes against any religion that believed in God and not just a 'higher being'.

I've been to exhibitions including where there was a statuesque guy there which was freaky, like them Italians in the town centres.

Very interesting, need to download it the episode. Would you ever join them if you could progress quicker? Did they speak of how a membership is obtained and the initiation? :yk3

It is loosely based on Judaism, with elements of Kabbalah but has a long relationship with satanism. Yes, they're renowned for charity but that hasn't exactly endeared Bill Gates to the world. End of the day, revealing secrets will result in blood. Or the like. But not to be taken literally, of course ..

When my grandfather joined the army during British rule, he was invited to be a mason. He chose to be an electrician instead. The NCOs had to choose a trade in those days.

They will just try to glorify the free mason community by painting them as the good guy's. The programme will be propagated by the very community itself to brainwash people in to believing they are not satanic.

Interesting that in the membership rules they ask for belief in a higher power - if indeed the rituals and worship are towards the devil, it is arguably easier to turn a believer into a satanist (2 sides of the same coin) than someone who has no religious belief at all e.g. an atheist.

Not Satanic.

The deity Baphomet is associated with Freemasonry - he is depicted as having goat horns and hooves, so I can see where the conflation with Satan came from. But the Pagan god Pan has those attributes too. Christians have historically conflated competitor god-forms with the Devil to discredit them and deter their worship.

Don't get too defensive Robert. Nobody is accusing you of being a Freemason or Satanist.

Has anyone seen the film Eyes Wide Shut, in which Tom Cruise goes out on the town to casually 'revenge cheat' on his wife, but ends up inadvertently infiltrating a Freemason-like secret society (complete with its satanic rituals and disturbing orgies) and causing a whole host of destructive scenarios. Pretty interesting.

Have seen it, better still was the Johnny Depp movie - From Hell, about Jack the Ripper and how the royal family was heavily linked to freemasonry and summoned the royal physician to go out and murder any prostitute that could of been witness to the birth of an eligimate royal offspring.

The film came out a few years after Dianna's death which added to the conspiracy theories.

The graphic novel was a great deal better. One chapter was purely about Masonic architecture. The last one had Gull adrift in time, inspiring the serial killers of the 20th century through visions. Inspector Abberline retired on a fat pension, paid to keep his mouth shut.

I think Alan Moore was so angry at his story being butchered that he would not put his name to any film version of his work after that.

Duke of Kent is the grand mason.
