Amla - Bats at #3 in tests and opens in ODIs - better stats despite playing most of the games in tougher batting conditions.

Inzy is a Pakistani great but I do not rate someone who has scored just 1 century in his entire career against Australia and SA.

In ODIs, I'd take Inzi as well.

Amla has scored a lot of soft runs in his limited overs cricket. Nothing much of substance in big games or big chases barring the odd good knock.

Just look at how they do in chases.

Inzi's average goes up under pressure and Amla's comes down.

Inzamam was a great batsman and one of our legends but he is clearly overmatched here. Hashim Amla is a level above in tests and arguably, ODIs as well.

Both of them have a lot of respect for each other.

I rate Inzzy high in the test format, but Inzzy in ODI is overrated.

Inzzy against best two teams of his era: 70+ ODIs, averaged 30-31 & SR in 60s with 0 Tons.

WC - 35 ODIS - Avg in 20s

Finals - 35 ODIS - Avg in 20s

Not saying that Amla is gun player in ODI, but Inzzy is wrongly known as high pressure player in PP. Inzzy went missing in WCs, against SA/Aus and in finals. All with a large sample sizes.

I'm surprised by the number of people opting for Hash. I'm big fan of Hashim but I've seen Inzi throughout his career and he was one hell of a good batsman too. Remember one of his knocks in the 2005 ODI series against India, I think it was in ahmadabad... Boy he showed nerves of steel in that run chase, sonething I have never seen from Hash.

Very close to call but I were to choose then Hashim in tests and Inzi in ODIs.
