Lahore-January 11, 2017: Chief Selector Inzamam ul Haq under the directives of PCB chaired a meeting of regional coaches today in Islamabad. The meeting was also attended by Mushtaq Ahmed, Head Coach National Cricket Academy. During the meeting, the extensive role of regional coaches at the national level and a strategy was devised to unearth the grass root talent. Inzamam ul Haq urged the coaches to look for the talented players in all three formats of the game and highlight it before the national selectors.

He emphasized on the coaches to highlight the potential spinners and all-rounders in the regions so they can be invited to NCA to further work on their skills. He urged them to work on players’ fitness and on discipline. He lauded the efforts of regional coaches and expressed to work together to strengthen Pakistan's cricket. The participants expressed their views to bring improvement in players’ skill and gave their valuable inputs to expand the pool of talented players. Mushtaq Ahmed highlighted the recent talent hunt programs organized by NCA in the remote areas. He briefed the participants on the ongoing programs at the NCA where players from different regions went through extensive practice camps.

It was decided that the meeting with the regional coaches shall regularly take place in the future to chalk out a strategy to nourish talented players from across the country.

What's the point you will only select Junaid, malik, irfan,TTF and co. No need to unearth any new talent. They should look for an alternative jobs rather then get into this corrupt system.

What's the point if he keeps recycling same players again and again. Just an eye wash

The same talent mantra , what about the guys who have been performing in domestic for years and waiting for their first call?

there has to be the right processes to identify talent before they get to regional level as well.

The more scientific and professional the game gets. The further we fall behind. Until a change in mentality doesnt happen in our cricket structures we will carry on looking for that kid off the street who can bowl 150k thunderbolts rather than unearthing quality players via the domestic system.

As i said before his appointment, he will be no different than his predecessors.

The thing is , if a guy who was dropped and scored some runs they bring him back. If a nobody scores a lot of runs , its very hard for him to get considered , that's how the tried and tested failures keep coming back. Inzi goes one big now , he brings the tried and tested failures who also failed to score any runs in domestic. How the hell did hafeez and akmal win their places back? An enigma.

Inzi's selection policy has been exposed now. He is pleasing the mafias.

Haroon Rasheed was actually rewarding domestic performers and he brought some new faces to the side. Inzi on the other hand really can't say anything in his defense.

we need a better strucutre to unearth talent..we need university and school cricket that can feed into club cricket..concentrate on that Inzi..all this find talent stuff is gully mohalla stuff..
