They have Naraine, Yadav and Chawla and shelled out 10cr on last 2. Idiotic move IMO. They will never play all 3 in a single game
 
SRH no doubt the best team at the auction today. Covered their bases and got the players they wanted to keep back at relatively low prices compared to if they were retained. Basil Thampi was an absolute steal!

As a KKR fan, you can see the clear destruction of the lineup with Chris Lynn, Narine and Andre Russell. Signing Nitish Rana was also a solid inclusion.
However, they used up too much of their money too soon and should have gone for cheaper alternatives rather than DK and Piyush Chawla
 
With such massive disparity in pay between the top and bottom players in teams, you have the perfect conditions for spot/match fixing.

What pay disparity, ipl pays 10L minimum to uncapped unknown players, 10L for 3 months is not a common figure in india for any job.
 
RCB are really building a strong squad.

Im really gutted with MI not bidding for Jos Butler. :(

MI squad looks pretty weak, apart from Bumrah and Cummins not quality seamer.

Just saw, MI have signed up Evin Lewis which is massive upgrade to Simmons. MI only lacks quality seamer (backup) specially if there is injury to Cummins (injury prone) or Bumrah. Also need to sign up some proven WK batsman. Not sure how good Ishan Kishan is, but he is fairly new and have currently no backup keeper in squad. Man, this squad is not looking great specially for defending Champs. Smh
 
Some base prices from Foreign players look very stupid, they seem to value themselves far too high.

McCleneghan doesn’t just rely on cutters, plus he doesnt shy from attacking stumps. On the other hand, Fizz relies mostly on cutters, plus many players are able to read his cutters thus making him less effective.

Agree with the squad assessment i think we are cursed every time we we have a good team and win a title the god damned auction takes place and dismantles our team.

Im very gutted at Ambanis for not bidding for Jos Butler. Imagine, Butler and Pandya brothers coming to finish the game off after Lewis provided amazing platform upfront. Anyhow, no point crying over now. I just hope they at least bid for some local WK batsman.

His base price is 1.5cr and Mumbai only have 6cr left. They also need to get in at least 6 players, so I dont see them spending that much on Root, specially if he is going to be warming the bench.

Pollard, Cummins, Lewis, Ben Cutting/Fizz seemed to be sure starter. Also, Root wont be available for entire season, so it doesnt make sense to bid for him.

I think we have good enough team. All the star names don't mean anything. Big squads mean nothing. Almost all our players are playing 11 worthy.

Don't think ambanis have anything to do with it, the fact is every team has had atleast 1 or 2 of its targets come up at a bargain, MI made the big mistake of going for polly, i like but we should have been ruthless with him the same way we were with malinga and mccleneghan. Wasted money there thus leaving nothing for buttler, kishan is a good player might not be a hit this season but will be a good buy with 3 year period in mind.

I think IPL needs to go the nba way introduce the luxury tax ala NBA, MI will be the biggest beneficiaries of such a thing.

How do you rate our chances this season as defending champs? Are u happy with squad so far?

And who do you think so far have balanced squad. Im inclined to say that RCB having all their base covered, closedly followed by SRH.

Kishan is pretty good six hitter. His game against moving ball was suspect in past but heard that he was better this Ranji season. I think Mumbai will play him up the order with Lewis.

We have no spinner of note, its just the chahar kid and elder pandya no real go to spinner. Don't have an opener yet, Batting lineup is very bottom heavy, no indian batsman barring rohit who can actually play 20 overs, frankly our indian batting contingent looks rubbish.

I sure hope he is good with six hitting ability. I dont think he will open, Rohit and Lewis will form an opening partnership.

Nope, won't win it thats for sure. SRH look really good, i won't worry about RCB still batting heavy with little in the way of bowling not to forget if Banglore provides them the last year wicket their team is screwed like last year.

Only 11 play at a time. Don't count us out. 4-5 of our players are absolute best in world in their respective discipline.

But they aren't if our bowling lineup had someone like a chahal or starc instead of cummins or chahar i would agree but we don't really have match winners like say Royals who much like us don't really have a great team but there are loads of individual match winners.

Thats on kohli but my point was they are match winners cummins, pollard, fizz lewis are good but not superstars who will win you games single handedly, also this stupid get all uncapped players into auction system is going to create problems finding that next pandya or bumrah.

Nah. Some teams had few pace bowlers and badly needed one Indian pacer to fill their roster. They had money left too. Basically JU had an incredible stroke of luck.

I said in india. Obviously other nations have far far far superior bowlers. We are not very good. So our standards are low.

Unadkat performed very well in last ipl.
It's just that couple players get lucky in auction due to aggressive bidding.
 
IMO Unadkat is the most improved bowler in the world.He was one of the best bowler in last ipl.

These three does make scary pace trio, plus they also have Fizz and Cutting. Now, i feel MI are shaping up nicely.

Duminy is middle order insurance in case someone goes down with injury or is out of form. Can happen that Krunal and Pollard are not at their best.
 
Ridiculous to see Afg and B'desh players getting picked but no Pakistanis allowed in the league, IPL still has huge potential with a far superior ceiling once they include players from Pakistan and Kashmir (Pakistan side of it)

Pakistan has its own PSL and they need to concentrate on it more and make it more competitive.

CSK has too much money left. They can buy atleast 3 players without being challenged. They can buy Vijay easily.

Doesn't look like Mitchel Johnson, Lasith Malinga and Chris Gayle have been picked in the IPL yet.
