Loved how you did not fall into the trap of listing the batters to this guy who would then have proceeded to compare XX with YY and how their records are great. Awesome stuff.


PSL is a great league, us Pakistanis -- who are the primary consumers -- enjoy it much more than any other league and that is what matters, not what the neighbors think. We have had some great matches this time too, all the teams are equally matched and the TTF are gradually fading away and new stars are coming into the spotlight. What more can we ask for?

Exactly even last year there were some cracker matches. This despite no seperate window to allow exceptional international stars to join.
 
PSL has faster bowlers, better or not needs to be seen. Except for Hassah/Shaheen nobody else has consistently bowled well. I really like the look of Dahani and a couple others but they are extremely wet behind the ears and not ready for the next step. When compared to IPL, PSL has quicker home grown bowlers no doubt, but better am not sure. For starters, India doesn't throw in too many unknown 18-19 year olds in the limelight especially not a fast bowler. As an Indian, i envy the young speedsters in PSL and watch matches only to see them bowl and switch off after that.

PSL has good medium pacers too. The same kind of bowlers who will represent Ranji trophy teams if they were born on the other side of the border.

Mujeeb played just 2 games in IPL 2020 season and his economy was 10.37. He failed even in 2019. In 2018, he was good.

Rashid's economy in 2 PSL matches he played was 5.50. That's very good.

Rest everything is fine. It's good to hear franchises getting rid of TTFs and introducing youngsters who are better.

I want PSL to grow. We need more successful leagues in cricket.

Please provide some data with respect to the most 145+ kph deliveries bowled by local talent in these leagues. Will give us a clear picture.

No Indian pacer breached the 150k barrier in the last IPL but guys like Saini, Prasidh, Aaron, Yadav were among the list of bowlers with the fastest balls in the 2019 IPL. Think Saini breached the 150k barrier that season.

Problem for the Indian pacers is that they have to compete with blokes like Nortje, Archer, Ferguson, Rabada, etc., so that even if they bowl one at 148.5k speed, that won't feature even in the top 100 fastest deliveries for the season. Nortje was just breathing fire last season and bowling serious gas, he bowled the fastest ever delivery in the IPL history last season, clocked at 156.2k speed.

With regards to PSL, we will have to rely on snapshots of the broadcaster showing the most 145+ kph deliveries bowled by the pacers. I remember 2020 being dominated by Naseem Shah, but don’t remember the exact number of deliveries sorry.

No idea about the IPL, don’t follow it. Genuinely interested to know the claim of the above poster, where some Prasidh etc were bowling 150+ kph or quicker. With all due respect, I don’t think there is any Indian bowler quicker than any of Shaheen, Hasnain or Rauf at the moment.
 
P.S.: I think pace is overrated. I could never for the life of me understand the extreme obsession of Pakistani fans with the quickest balls in every tournament.

I think a majority of the best bowlers have always bowled in the low 140s. Someone like Saini often threatens to touch the 150k mark but he's a million miles away from the quality of Bumrah who often operates in the early 140s mark. Ditto with Starc and Cummins.

I think pace is important, but a minimum threshold of 136-138 is more than enough. Ball skills is more important. Learning to control the length at a lively pace, presenting the seam well, learning to swing it and controlling the swing, ability to bowl a threatening bumper and yorker are much more essential skills.

Like I said, guys like Saini, Aaron, Prasidh, etc., touched the 150k mark in the 2019 edition.

In the last IPL though, Nortje and Archer ruled the roost. They were just too quick.They probably bowled 80 of the top 100 quickest deliveries between them. It was more like an ego battle between the two.

Why don’t you take out time and watch the league for once instead of continuing to ask these pointless questions? Or do you genuinely believe Pakistan’s good medium pacers are no match for those 130kmh IPL bowlers?

Well when "those 130 kph IPL bowlers" win a T20 and a Test series in Australia while their Pakistani counterparts keep getting walloped onto the grass banks by some second tier NZ club sides....he has every reason to believe that. Doesn't he?

Ofcourse for them that is the only thing that would matter for the next 100 years. With an England tour coming up where their bowlers are going to be walloped on to the second tier of every stadiums, they would quickly move on to ignore it. Pakistan does better in England, India does better in Australia ... and both get tonked in Newzealand. but alas! they have short memories of the tonking their trundlers get abroad apart from Australia.

Back to back series wins in Australia has confirmed India’s status as the GOAT Asian Test team. They have the right to milk it for years.

Moreover, it is futile to compare India in Australia with Pakistan in England.

India have won back to back series in Australia, while Pakistan celebrates drawn series in England like a small team. Pakistan has not won in England since 1996 and rain saved them from a 3-0 whooping last summer.

As far as India in England and Pakistan in Australia is concerned, again, there is no comparison.

India wins a Test on pretty much every England tour and won a series in 2007. On the other hand, Pakistan is beyond embarrassing in Australia and has a 100% losing record (with zero draws) since the 1999 tour.

Javed Miandad was still playing ODI cricket the last time Pakistan did not lose a Test match in Australia. :)))

That sums it up. The unmatched mediocre of Pakistan cricket always rears its ugly head whenever they tour Australia. Truly a pathetic team with no talent, skill and mental application.

No team is as woeful in any country as Pakistan in Australia.

Lol at saying drawing in England is the same thing as winning back to back series in Australia, especially for asian teams.

When was the last time Pakistan won a test series in England? India have won there in 2007.

Last time when India toured England the Indian bowlers outperformed the English bowlers in most of the innings but it's their batsmen that let them down in that series.

England were 6 down for 80 in almost every single innings before their tailenders came into the rescue. Despite india losing all 5 tosses, the series was so close that a couple of games could have gone either way. the only difference was Sam Curran.

Indian bowlers conceded 400+ only once in 9 innings in that series whereas yours were getting smoked for 600 for fun in Australia last time.

Even in Newzealand , they didn't concede 400 even once whereas yours got smoked for 650+ again.

In South Africa aswell, they didn't concede 400 even once and picked up all 60 wickets in 6 innings whereas your bowlers were getting smoked by ABD less SA.

You have to think that there's a world of difference between indian bowlers and your cannon fodders.

Every year during PSL Pak bowlers become the bestest and Phaastest in the world and then start trundling and gets thrashed around as soon as international cricket starts.

Indian bowlers performed everywhere in the world and as a fan I am thankful that their dreams don't revolve around bowling the phaastest bowl ever.

Meanwhile enjoy your phaast bowling, not sure if you will have anything to boast over once real cricket resumes.

How can rabada bowl 154k in IPL last year and Nortje 154.5k this year when they barely managed 150k in our speed guns?

Yes they do bowl few above 150k but not 154-155k ever on international cricket , except may be on Aus infamous overrated speed guns.
 
Btw Rabada didn't even manage 150k in Pakistan during tests yet some how he bowled at 154k during IPL , do you guys import those Aus speed guns as well?
 
Naseem top speed in his own words in Pakistan was 143k but when he went to Aus he was hitting 147.5k multiple times
 
Pretty sure Naseem will bowl an entire spell with 150k on Aus speed guns because he bowled so many deliveries at 146+ today
 
PSL is devoid of current world class international players

It is an entertaining franchise league but it serves little purpose other than enriching the players

IPL is a genius idea because having Indian youngsters play with and against the best players in the world makes them more confident and ready for the big stage.

Our youngsters are not reaping the same rewards by playing with the likes of Dunk and Salt.

Hasnain alone has bowled more 145 plus kph deliveries than all Indian pacers combined last IPL.
I enjoy watching psl for the local fast bowlers. It's exciting. The fast bowling apart from the foreign contingent is pretty pedestrian in the IPL

130 kph natarajan helped win a test match in Australia. None of your bowlers can do that regardless of speed gun numbers. Cant even beat wellington second XI in this format, let alone tests :rabada2

Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Shan Masood, Azam Khan and many other well below international tier batsmen have flourished and it's even more sad looking at the bowling

Wahab Riaz, Imran Khan, Mohammed Irfran, Sohail Tanvir plus Sohail Khan have all had most Pakistani batsmen struggling to buy a run and have been the most economical bowlers for their respective sides.

Really, really sad state of affairs for us.

Is it good batting or bad bowling? For a tournament which has the best bowling talent, 247-2 in 20 overs is not a good look at all.

That wasn't my point but what you said is unironically true :))

When conditions in UAE are slow and tough for batting we see our batsmen fail to have any sort of plan or ability to negate the somewhat difficult conditions and we see bowlers dominate.

However when the reverse occurs and conditions are good for batting than we see the same batsmen who struggled against the "great" bowlers on slower and more difficult tracks dominate them while those bowlers become absolute bunnies.

This just goes to show how low our standards are. Good batting conditions = rubbish batsmen dominating rubbish bowlers. Good bowling conditions = rubbish bowlers dominating rubbish batsmen

Just watched few minutes of PSL. The bowling was quite impressive. Especially fast bowling which seemed like 1980s test cricket level.

I’m sorry I must be wrong about what I said. I guess the performances from Asif, Iftikhar, Imran Khan, Sohaib Tanvir, Mohammed Irfan and the rest of the seniors is just a sign of how great our reserves are.

I mean if these guys are performing so brilliantly in “the worlds best league” than surely we must get these guys in the team.
 
The ongoing UAE leg of IPL has completely debunked this thread.

Too many dull games.....sluggish wickets with teams struggling to score even 140 consistently.

Hope the wickets improve for WT20

Yes, this phase hasn't produced the nailbiters the first phase and the last IPL managed to produce. Pitches have been nonsense largely.
 
Bump. Wonder where our Indian friends gone. So many low scoring games and person who created this thread this is what happens on such pitches unless roads are prepared. Its all about being patient everyone gets exposed just like this thread has.

We've seen enough of that in the last season itself. Just few days back, MI smashed 235 like at Dubai like it's nothing. I'm pretty sure no PSL side has crossed even 200 once in like... a million attempts.

Horrendous pitches. Its a pity a WC is being played here especially after the pitches have been further run to the ground in the IPL. Pitches in Oman seem better, going by the scores of SL and Oman. I see no difference between the PSL and IPL being played here apart from the odd match when MI played like they had nothing to lose.
To see the likes of AB and VK struggle is truly an eyesore.
