Israel wants dominance in Middle east, and Iran is the only stumbling block, and their Mossad intelligence working makes me think that they might be even better than CIA excluding the funding and whatever, though Iran is'nt a joke like Saudi, Pak etc, and has a decentralized leadership which can prolong the war though not sure how much does U.s and israel want and can fight for, their drones seem to be hitting U.S air bases, though Israel in terms of intelligence and nuclear power is a threat, hopefully all comes out well.

WASHINGTON, March 18 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's administration is considering deploying thousands of U.S. troops to reinforce its operation in the Middle East, as the U.S. military prepares for possible next steps in its campaign against Iran, said a U.S. official and three people familiar with the matter.
The deployments could help provide Trump with additional options as he weighs expanding U.S. operations, with the Iran war well into its third week.

Those options ‌include securing safe passage for oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, a mission that would be accomplished primarily through air and naval forces, the sources said. But securing the Strait could also mean deploying U.S. troops to Iran's shoreline, said four sources, including two U.S. officials.
Reuters granted the sources anonymity to speak about military planning.
The Trump administration has also discussed options to send ground forces to Iran's Kharg Island, the hub for 90% of Iran's oil exports, the three people familiar with the matter and three U.S. officials said. One of the officials said such an operation would be very risky. Iran has the ability to reach the island with missiles and drones.
 
Iran targets Gulf countries' energy infrastructure after Israeli strike on gas field

A Qatari official called the strikes there a "dangerous escalation."

Iran launched a series of retaliatory strikes against the vital energy infrastructure in nearby Gulf states after Israel hit its largest gas field Wednesday -- a "dangerous escalation" that deepened the crisis and sent oil prices surging.

In response to Israel's initial strike, Iran issued evacuation orders for several energy assets in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, saying the facilities had become "direct and legitimate targets," according to semi-official Mehr News Agency.

"Previously, clear and repeated warnings were given to your rulers about entering this dangerous path and gambling with the fate of their nations," the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement.

Both Qatar and the UAE sharply criticized Israel's initial attack, with the Qatari foreign minister calling it a "dangerous & irresponsible step amid the current military escalation in the region," in a social media post.

In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry also condemned Iran's attack, calling it a "dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of the state's sovereignty, as well as a direct threat to its national security and the stability of the region."

Among the retaliatory strikes, Iran hit the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Ras Laffan in Qatar -- the most serious attack on the country's energy facilities since the start of the war.

The strikes caused fires and "extensive damage," said Qatar Energy, the state-owned oil and gas company.

About a fifth of the world's liquefied natural gas is ordinarily shipped from Ras Laffan, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, calling it a "dangerous escalation."

Later, energy facilities in Saudi Arabia were targeted by a barrage of missiles and drones, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defense

Missiles also targeted the Habshan gas facilities in Abu Dhabi, according to the United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The Ministry emphasized that this terrorist attack, which targeted the country's infrastructure and oil facilities, represents a direct threat to the security and stability of the region and its people, as well as to global energy security."

The attacks followed Iran's vow to retaliate against some of the energy facilities of its Gulf state neighbors after Israel attacked the Iranian part of the South Pars gas field -- the largest in the world and which Iran shares with Qatar.

RIYADH — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that trust in Iran has been “completely shattered,” stressing that Tehran cannot be considered a partner while continuing its current behavior.

Speaking at a press conference following a ministerial meeting in Riyadh with Arab and Islamic foreign ministers on Thursday, Prince Faisal said Iran’s actions demonstrate that it does not believe in genuine dialogue with neighboring countries, but instead relies on pressure and political and security coercion.

He described Iranian attacks on neighboring countries and maritime navigation as a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of international law, noting that participants at the meeting agreed on the need to halt these attacks and strongly condemn Iran’s destabilizing behavior.

The foreign minister said the meeting underscored the importance of halting Iranian attacks on naval vessels and attacks on neighboring states, adding that Tehran’s actions reflect a persistent strategy aimed at undermining regional security and stability through pressure and the use of militias.

Prince Faisal said Iran had “pre-planned” these attacks, indicating they were not isolated incidents but part of a systematic policy of escalation. He added that such behavior contradicts the principles of good neighborliness, international agreements and even the teachings of Islam.

He stressed that Iran continues to adopt a hostile approach toward its regional neighbors, committing acts of aggression while simultaneously seeking solidarity from others.

The minister dismissed Iranian justifications as unconvincing, describing them as attempts to cover up a broader policy of coercion, and warned that continued miscalculations would carry political and broader consequences for Tehran.

Prince Faisal said Saudi Arabia reserves the right to take necessary measures when needed, emphasizing that appropriate decisions will be made at the right time.
“Iran is mistaken if it believes Gulf states are incapable of responding,” he said, adding that countries in the region know how to protect their security and defend their interests.

He called on Iran to reconsider its policies and halt actions that are pushing the region toward further escalation, holding Tehran responsible for rising tensions, threats to maritime navigation and attacks on neighboring countries.

Prince Faisal noted that Saudi Arabia had extended a hand of cooperation to Iran through the Beijing Agreement, seeking to open a new chapter focused on stability and development. However, he said Tehran chose confrontation and expansion of influence over cooperation.

“The Kingdom sought sincerely to create a more stable regional environment, but Iran’s actions show that its priority is not development, but managing crises and exporting tensions,” he said.

He also pointed to the targeting of Riyadh during the presence of Gulf and Islamic diplomats, saying the attack carried clear escalation signals and demonstrated Iran’s intent to send hostile messages even during active diplomatic engagement.

The foreign minister stressed that Iran “will not stop” unless confronted with a firm position, reiterating that Saudi Arabia does not fear escalation and retains the right to respond militarily if necessary to protect its sovereignty and regional stability.

He rejected Iran’s claims of supporting Islamic causes, noting that Tehran has targeted multiple Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, the UAE, Jordan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Levanon

Prince Faisal also dismissed Iranian arguments linking attacks to US presence in the region, saying such claims are not credible given that targets included countries and facilities unrelated to that justification.

He warned that continued attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure would have consequences beyond the Kingdom, affecting global markets and economic stability.

Concluding his remarks, Prince Faisal said Iran has repeatedly engaged in actions followed by denial, describing it as a pattern that poses ongoing security challenges not only to neighboring countries but to the entire region.

Iran seemingly has no consideration for what happens next after the war. They will be weakened, and will have to live alongside the Arab countries they are attacking. They have their reasons for attacking, but still when the smoke clears, they will be bigger pariahs than before.

But they don't care. I wonder what their end game is here ( of course it's survival but I mean beyond that).

Yes for Iran revenge purpose Only ..but Israel did the job. This attack on Iran's gas fields was orchestrated by the US and Israel to elicit a response from Iran to hit GCC oil facilities. All this to shape public opinion in Arab nations, and in the US, in favor of US taking control of Kharg island and Iran oil shipments later when possible

It doesn't matter. Gulf officials have privately confessed to Western media outlets that they want complete destruction of Iran. A wounded, defanged Iran in the neighborhood is seen as an even bigger threat to the interests of Arab states.

Iran knows this and that's why they are hell bent on destroying as much of the energy infrastructure in the Middle East and disrupting supply chains as much a possible.

South Asian and Chinese tankers have been allowed through the Hormuz because these nations haven't taken action inimical to Iranian interests so far.

I would say 'Iran' has no logical endgame here. As a result of Israel destroying the entire central decision making structure, I believe that all decisions have gotten decentralised and powerful IRGC and regular army commanders are pursuing strategies that they think best.

Larijani's assassination will only make it worse. Common analysis is that he was one of the only individuals left who had links into the Mullahs, the IRGC, the military and the civilian government. With his death, and the new Khamenei figurehead incommunicado, it's only going to get worse. We could see a lot more of these wild lashing outs.

Iran is emerging victorious from this. Those gulf nations are nothing but little rats, your post makes them sound like serious nations which they're not. If anything, they're now scared as hell Iran will survive this, become even more stronger in the future and when the time is right it will single handedly decimate all of them and end the storyline for the corrupt non muslim empires in the Gulf.

Just because you die doesnt mean your generation dies. That is how their regime is designed. They are not like Iraq or Venezuela. All these guys stayed in Tehran, they could've hidden in some remote locations in Iranian Mountains, but they chose not to. A lot of them are already quite old. They have ancient history of having an empire themselves.

Their endgame is simple if you think about it. They are taking on US, Israel, plus entire gulf countries all by themselves. Russia, China have not even entered the scene yet.

As usual, Indians have no idea how wars are fought. Lack of understanding of warfare strategy explains why India was never ab;e to conquer even micro nations in its vicinity but was instead repeatedly taken by many neighbouring nations.

When you face existential crisis from world's two most advanced and brutal militaries, and still don't drop weapons even three weeks in to the war is itself admirable. But Iran is not only holding its ground but also inflicts significant damage where it matters.

Iran is not provoking Israel bcos US-Israel combo may exercise nuclear option. UAE, Bahalrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar don't have their own army. Even if they made now their soldiers will come on Camel 🐫

Over 170 injured in Israel in last 24 hours: Health Ministry​

Israel’s Health Ministry reports that 177 injured people were taken to hospitals over the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of wartime injuries in Israel to 3,924, it says.

As we’ve reported, a total of 15 people have been killed in Israel during the war with Iran, as well as two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon.
