What's new

Ireland v Pakistan | 1st ODI | Dublin (Malahide) | Aug 18, 2016 | Pakistan Innings

It's a high quality club ground usually for most of the season that gets converted a bit for international games. Filled it with over 12,000 people I believe when England played there against Ireland last (well game before last, last got rained off...).

Obviously they only put seating in for how many they're expecting though, so there's only a couple of stands around today.

I wouldnt really call it a high quality club ground, a high quality club ground is Oval for Surrey, Rose Bowl for Hampshire etc. Even division 2 sides like Sussex and Somerset have proper stadiums

This looks more of a place where local club cricket is played in England rather then international fixtures.

And yeah i guess its one of those places where they bring in removable seating when expecting high crowds.

What do you expect them to do... Suddenly pay for some special cloud seeding technology to try and stop the rain in Ireland? If the game was in England then chances are it most probably wouldn't be played in a ground with floodlights either. Wouldn't be put in an international ground for sure.

all english county stadiums have flood lights, this isn't the 80's anymore mate

Irish TV now showing some sunday league football match with Kilbattack vs Sheriff. THE colour of the pitch looks like Sri Lanka rather then Ireland

The Oval and Rose Bowl are more than just 'high quality club grounds', they're International Test venues. Can't expect Ireland to have something similar to that level yet. But yeah, more reasonable to expect them to have facilities akin to what we see at Hove in Sussex or Grace Road in Leicester.

Hence why I called it a club ground :lara.

The Rose Bowl and The Oval are county/international grounds. County out-grounds like Arundel, Cheltenham, Uxbridge, Swansea etc. are high quality club grounds,

May want to check your information 'mate'. 3 of the current county grounds don't have floodlight and that number was twice as large until the start of last season.

Yeah i get your point Uxbridge, Loughborough etc are 2nd or 3rd choice grounds for counties so yeah its probably on par with them.

3 out of how many english grounds is that then.

Quiet obvious all counties that play t20's play their matches in flood lit grounds.

Flood lit stadiums in england:
Old trafford
Trent bridge
Headingly
Edgbaston
Chester-le-Street (durham)
SWALEC
Bristol
Hove
Chelmsford
Derby
Rose Bowl
Trent Bridge
Lords
Oval
St Lawrence (canterbury)

There are more flood light grounds in england then they are the number of teams that play international cricket.

Who needs cricket on TV when you Irish Sunday League football :yk

In all seriousness its bad enough when a game gets rained off, but for a game to be delayed when its dry due to a patch of outfield is 10X worse.

The Irish teams are the worst teams in FIFA videogame.

LOL. Andrew Symonds on PTV Sports speaking english with Pakistani guys and listening to their urdu. He must be so confused.

Nope, not all the counties that play T20 (which is all the counties) play at grounds with floodlights.

3/18 currently. Chester-le-Street, Headingley and Bristol also didn't have them til last season and were all hosting international games without them.

Toss was schedlulded for 12:20 but happened at 12:15 so the TV missed it

Young left out, disappointing, unless Murtagh bowls his 10 early he's a liability because his low ER at he beginning goes to hell at the end.

Excited to see Chase though, horrible looking action but pacy and gets wickets.

Good Luck buddy
may the best team win

Pakistan call heads and it's a tail, unsurprisingly William Porterfield decides to have a bowl.

Coverage has resumed.

Nick Compton is doing interviews at the toss !

I absolutely love the random English cricketers we drag up for these things.

Was Owais Shah for SL, Matt Prior last year, Compton today. So far theyve actually been quite good!

Gona be a disaster for the rankings if Pakistan dont win these 2 games.

And will most probably guarantee we have to play the qualifiers for the CT and WC

3 spinners in Nawaz, Imad and Malik on a greentop. If Hafeez cleared his bowling test it would've been four.

No wonder why the weather is like this, the stadium is right next to the irish seas.

What an awful idea to locate the stadium next to the sea, this isn't the barbados.

Are they seriously playing both Imad and Nawaz on a green pitch?!?! you've got to be kidding me!!!

catch 22 situation, we will 100% need the spinners against England so its good to give them a go now but on these pitches?

Ireland won't get nothing from playing on these sort of wickets against a bowling attack like Pakistans. What they really need is to play on usual conditions and try to compete. This is the greenest wicket i have seen in a long while, add to the its raining and the stadium is next to the irish sea. very strange place to play cricket

The tune of the Pak national anthem is kinda stuck in my head since the WT20 match at Kolkata:narine

The batting line is again soo unbalanced. Number 3 should be the player that plays most of the overs and we have Hafeez. Malik is not a finisher he should be batting at 4 or not play at all. Again no big hitters at the end of the innings.

OMG they are having entrance songs for the entrance of the fielding team as well as the batsmen...

Mind....BLOWN !!! :14: What an innovation

This pitch reminds me of the u19 world cup final Pakistan v India the one which Anwar Ali took all those wickets

And thus all the pre match anticipation washes away from Donal's eyes as he remembers....

This is Irelands bowling attack.

Someone tell me about the broadcasting the match ????
I mean... which channel in Pakistan ???
