This thread is for all those Pakistanis who think that hosting the PSL final in Lahore is a good idea. All those who write nonsense such as Pakistani people being deprived of cricket. How can you possibly be so selfish that you want to endanger the lives of so many people just for a stupid cricket match. PSL isn't like our crappy domestic tournaments that no one cares about. It's a huge brand that has the attention of everyone. Terrorists must be rubbing their hands in delight thinking of causing a ruckus on the final day. Even if the foreign players don't turn up, the lives of our Pakistani cricketers are just as important. And what about the fans? What about the policemen? Aren't their lives important? Is a cricket match worth it when so many people can potentially die? I think it's a very bad idea to host the PSL final in Pakistan. And I honestly can't fathom how after the recent suicide bombings in the country, how anyone can possibly be in favour of PSL final in Lahore. The future of Pakistan cricket isn't more important than lives of hundred and thousands of innocents.
 
It seems so , judging by the number of fans who are desperate for the arrival of foreign players in Pakistan and expecting them to overlook any security fears.

Hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately, Najam Sethi's ego is too big for him to back out now, and we'll have to just pray that everything goes perfectly fine.
 
It's purely a politically motivated move. It's truly a shame to see what politicians like Sharif and his henchmen like Sethi are willing to put on the line just to get some political mileage.
 
Fans are one thing, I'm surprised the PSL management group is ignorant of the underlying risk.

They should know better.

A lot easier to avoid the threat from a cricket ball than the threat from a terrorist.

Reality is Pakistan is in shambles right now cause its being deprived of International cricket. Its not the people's fault that they want something they cannot immediately have. If we stay quiet for too long cricket will die in Pakistan.

Reality is Pakistan is in shambles right now cause its being deprived of International cricket. Its not the people's fault that they want something they cannot immediately have. If we stay quiet for too long cricket will die in Pakistan.

Terrorism has to be completely eliminated or at least reduced to an almost nonexistent level for interns cricket to come back. I know that's a hard answer to hear but that's the unfortunate reality. We are far from achieving that right now. These quick fix solutions provide nothing to gain but a lot to lose.
 
Insha'Allah everything will go well but it makes little sense in the present climate. But in the bigger scheme of things it makes no sense at all as if there is even a small incident, foreign players will be reluctant for the next few years.
In the political arena it has become a battle between Sethi and IK, with Sethi desperate to get boasting rights on behalf of the Sharifs.

They are not stupid either. It's been a decade of terrorism in the land yet they will not give into terrorists. If they want to see cricket in Lahore and will attend the match then it should go ahead.

It's quite shocking how Sethi has become a blatant liar claiming international players are not coming because of Imran's statement when in fact he had confirmed much before Imran's statement that most players aren't ready to play final in Lahore. In fact there was a list of players released who might be ready to play and NONE of the main international players agreed. Almost every channel has run hour long talkshows discussing Imran's statement in the last couple of days so surely this is purely a political exercise and Sethi is doing his best to please Sharifs.
 
No way! Cricket is only a second rate Sport followed by a handful of people. Being the only Sport Pak is any good at is why we follow it, Football is much more important then this game of gilli danda! I would never risk my life for Cricket no matter what. When Pak lose I forget about it within the next hour.

The only thing to FEAR is FEAR itself, we know through painful experience that freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed. True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.
 
There were terrorist bombs going off in England when Australia toured, and also in Mumbai when England toured. Both countries tried and succeeded to get the visitors to continue their tours in an effort to support the game for the national good.

While I fully understand that overseas players may feel nervous of playing in Lahore, I also fully support the PCB in trying to get the PSL finals played in Lahore. The tickets have already been sold out I believe, and it's tragic that a public so mad about the game have been denied the opportunity to enjoy it because of the terrorists.

In any case, all overseas players have full discretion to decide not to play the finals so it is their choice. Not a bad deal for players who are earning a fortune for playing a few weeks of cricket in Dubai.

Rightly said. Sometimes you have to stand up to the terrorists and prove it to them that their bombings failed to kill the courage & morale of nation. Of course, this courage has to be backed by fool-proof security arrangements unlike the "presidential security" that was provided to the Sri Lanka cricket team.

Successfully hosting PSL may be an opportunity to stand up to these terrorists.

Agreed, otherwise we're going to remain in limbo forever; credit to the PCB for trying to do something. Besides, when adequate security measures are in place it would not be productive for someone to attack to be honest although admittedly there are nut jobs about no doubt. Incidents occur all over the world but the show goes on.
 
How far do you take this argument? I remember reading an article a while back about people wanting to ban religious processions (certain Shiite ones) because they were targeted by terrorists. Or what about banning people from dargahs and other religious sites because they are a target for terrorists?

Close down public parks too? What about concerts and musical events?
