Let's be honest, their is always a major cause of stress in a human's life throughout different life stages.

At school, their are regular and difficult assessments. Their is a huge expectation from parents and relatives, that the child will score high marks in exams. Furthermore, a parent also expects a child to compete with other children and learn skills that they have learnt at the same age.

Then youth life begins, where a person usually goes to University. The assessments become even more difficult and expectations to complete your degree on time add more stress. Furthermore, at the same time you are expected to earn a steady income to support your studies by working a part time job etc. So their comes the balance issue as well and social life suffers.

At adulthood, the need to pay off the student loans comes in as well as buying a house and getting married. The house mortgage hangs over the head and marital problems also kick in. Life becomes a rat race, with having to work as much as possible in this day and age to ensure survival.

So in a way, a human is always stressed in today's world. How can we deal with this?

Have you tried yoga? Yoga and dry suana in the winters does the trick .

Modern world is very competitive. Also, societies are going downhill. It is very difficult to avoid stress.

You probably cannot eliminate stress completely but can keep it under control.

In a way yes,

Quran 90:04 says: Indeed, We have created humankind in ˹constant˺ struggle.

Ghalib then said it in his own words

Qaed-e-hayaat-o-band-e-gham, asal mein donow aik hain
Maut sey pehlay aadmi gham sey nijaat paaey kyun?

How to reduce stress?

Create a balance in your life when you run after duniya and work towards your aakhirah
Once this balance goes off, man gets into more stress.

Reduce your needs and your wants - be content with what you have and be Thankful by looking at people who are in a deeper stress than you are.

Always remember, Happiness is a choice.

You can choose to be happy with what you have - or - you can opt to chase happiness, that you will never get.

Changing the frame of reference.

The issues that bothered you most in schools or colleges, now they wouldn't even matter now.

The problems you are having, most of them will be miniscule compared to what's coming in next 10 years.

We are stressed because we measure stress in current frame of reference which itself is a variable in the first place.

As long as we continue to do that, we'll always feel stressed.

Modern life is stressful and we have a duty to ourselves to look after our health and routine.

I have a very stressful professional life and a very responsibility heavy personal life. I do the following routines to assist me through the stress:

- deactivate my social media as I’ll view more than what is healthy
- 3 litres of water a day minimum
- low carb diet and definitely limit cake to once a week
- sleep 8 hours a day and take melatonin, taurine and magnesium and zinc to aid sleep and also go bed at the same times
- gym minimum 3 times a week / boxing
- countryside hike most weekends
- don’t overthink your problems and tackle them one by one gives peace too
- you must remain positive

One might find this funny, but I seriously like spending and enjoying my time with kids whenever I'm stressed. It gives me a window to escape all my sorrows in life for sometime.

Huge respect to you. When you are doing these things for example exercising at the gym or hiking, do you flashback and remember your professional job stuff?

Is your mind completely at peace when you are doing these things or is your mind still partially on the stressful stuff?

Man up , be grateful for what you have.

Unless someone in your family is suffering badly , being stressed is just a sign of weakness .

Thank you but you I’m sure can fix your stresses and are already doing so by exploring solutions.

My mind is always stressed so it’s best to be organised with to do lists and diaries.

When training and hiking, I get to reflect about personal issues and work issues and often find solutions.

Stress will never go but for me personally as long am I am dealing with the stress in front of me and not ignoring the problem then I’m ok.

If it’s peace you seek then never discount the importance of food and sleep for calmness. If you’re eating takeaway and sugars most days and sleeping poorly then naturally stress is harder to handle compared to clean living. Difficulty is that when you’re stressed you want burgers and cakes to feel good but it does opposite effects! If you master this for two weeks then you’ll see a difference and make it a habit.

Health and coping with modern stress go hand in hand my dear brother.

If you don’t mind sharing, what aspects of work stress you out? Is it the volume of work or how difficult it is?

When people are stressed or in a difficult place then be kind. Your message even if true is not helpful or encouraging if someone is low or stressed.

Kindness is telling the truth. I’m not here to give a shoulder , it’s a forum to discuss & give your views.

Most who are regularly stressed are weak humans . Not referring to the op.

If you fall into this category , grow some courage & deal with your issues .

If you are a chief executive of a large company and have a family then you will always be stressed - don’t be so immature and naive, it’s not a weakness.

Making poor choices such as drink, drugs, poor diet because of stress is a weakness but help people with encouragement not call them weak.

Give me strength

Privileged shouldn’t be stressed at all. Do your best & go sleep .

People must help themselves. Don’t wallow ii your own self pity , be grateful & enjoy life as ids over soon .

Eat healthy , go gym , have fun helps too .

Your post makes me believe that you have yet to experience real world responsibilities.

Best advice in this thread. Especially the part about supplements and adequate sleep.

Personally speaking my work is difficult and stressful. I feel my managers are always looking to blame me for any issues that go wrong. I am soft spoken in nature and often my colleagues take all the credit even if I have done a substantial amount.

I always feel on the edge and think I could be fired from work at any moment.

A few things I have learnt.
- Do Yoga and meditation if it is work or school work load. Do your best and do not worry about result.
- Do not take yourself too seriously. Remember we are inconsequential in the grand scheme of things
- Forgive and seek forgiveness. Do not hold any grudges.
- When dealing with rude and hateful people, remember that we do not know what they are going through in their lives.

Its easier said than done. But the least we can do is, try to follow the above 4 according to me.

Your situation doesn’t seem pleasant and I feel bad for what you’re going through.

What is the realistic chances of you being fired? Have you ever gone through any disciplinary or performance procedures?

Is your role a corporate one and how easy is it for you to move to another company?

Work matters are stressful for everybody but also remember that no matter how bad it is, it will get better. Feel free to ask any specific advice about work if you’re comfortable as there are many skilled people on here or confide in a family / friend for advice too. We all need a bit of advice sometimes no matter how strong we are.

Worst advice that a person can give, especially if they have never dealt with real life responsibilities and are immature

Stress is all in the brain. It releases hormones which increases your heart beat and it causes stress.

There are certain acupuncture points we have in body and if you stimulate those areas, your heart beat becomes smooth and reduces stress. Try this and might help:

1 - Rub the forehead with thumb between your two eye brows

2 - Stimulate the nerve on your left wrist just 3 fingers below the palm

3 - Pull you ear pinna down and stretch

Stress is directly proportionate to responsibility. There is stress for education while you're living with your parents but that is not near enough in comparison once you become a provider for the family.

As a young parent, now that I have to care for the wife and twin toddlers, my stress level has increased ten fold. Includes everything: financial, physical, psychological, emotional. Honestly speaking, I am exhausted.

That is why family/relatives/friends are important to deal with all issues of life. If you're lucky enough to not get any toxic individuals in this circle, it'll go a long way into relieving stress.

Dude that's part of life style of millionaires who have tons of money and time at their hands .... what the heck are stressed about?

Ive never thought of taking my life as this is against Islam, a huge major sin. I also never cry like a little girl.

The world is full of wimps in this day and age.

I think these are some ways of dealing with stress:

1) Be as little emotionally invested in things/people as you can.

2) Take your faith seriously.

3) Eat well.

4) Sleep/Rest well.

5) Be a minimalist. Embrace simplicity (not just through actions/words but also in terms of mindset).

6) Entertain yourself (provided it is halal).

7) Do breathing exercise.

8) Do physical exercise.

Life is a struggle. Some get tested more, some less. Even the spectrum of stress is different for everyone.

One problem is not having someone to share such stuff with. In current world, there are very few people who want the best for you while majority either don't care or are happy that you're in difficulty.

Parents are the most reliable people who can actually feel your pain. Just make sure you're treating them well even if everything else is on fire.

Just work hard, surround yourself with trustworthy people. Faith can also provide strength (for some)

I regularly watch Rocky and The Dark Knight triology when I'm down and looking for motivation.

Wow, some of the guidance in this thread to combat stress, take drugs, Taurine. Brilliant.

On the point of C-Level workers, the only time a CEO, CFO, or COO stressed is when they are trying to hide a crime, otherwise the majority are financially secure and live a plush life.

Agree with KingKhanWC, have faith in God, man up, and just deal with it - there is always someone worse off than you so be grateful for what you have. The world doesn't owe you anything, and neither does God.

And if anyone is looking for medicine to de-stress and live a healthy life, then try laughter, it is the best medicine hands down.

#5 is sound advice. Reducing one's social circle, social media, and avoiding the MSM, does wonders.

Sometimes doing the simple things helps towards a healthy life, like gardening.

Tips to reduce stress -

1. Stop appeasing others, be assertive, set boundaries, have self respect.

2. Have morals and integrity, if you are living an immoral life with no integrity you will not respect yourself which will result in low confidence.

3. Be truthful, people will respect you when you admit your lack of knowledge and experience. No need to pretend that you are know-all.

4. Stand your ground and be consistent, do not let other people sway you easily, if you don't like a new change for worse then stick to your guns.

In conclusion I would say see yourself from third person point of view. It will change your life and you will eventually stop listening to your stupid mind.

Our mind is our biggest enemy, whoever is controlling us is able to do so through our mind.

I'm going to add onto this thread. What do you guys think about investing in the stock market, buying Investment properties, etc?

Personally I wouldn't do these things, reason- they turn life into a competition. Their is always someone out there who has more properties and has made much more money on stocks.

Don't compare your investments with others who seem to be doing well. Try to get ideas from them and that is where it stops.
Also invest in Stocks only if you have disposable income. Even if you lose all of it, you should be in a position to live without any stress. Then only invest in stocks.

And how would you know this as you’re clearly not a ceo? Again kids with no life experiences

Use your fear and project it on your goals and ambitions.

Have gratitude and be a little selfish sometimes.

Some things may bother you until they are resolved, focus on what’s in your control.

Routine and prayer can be powerful, especially for muslims, recite the shahadah, we have nothing to be overly concerned with and Allah (swt) wont burden you with more than you can bear.

Being able to talk to someone at least one person, whoever it may be can be good.

Never give up and be humble. Don’t forget the less fortunate, remind yourself of this before bed.

You are not a CEO, so what do you know? You can comment on CEO stress whilst not being one but others cannot?

You have no idea of C-Level experience, not an iota, your idea of stress is a direct correlation with responsibility, boy how wrong you are.

Ironically having money can also be stressful, but I wouldn't invest in the stock market if you are easily stressed. It not uncommon for Investors to take their own lives when there is a market crash!

Imo you will only be more stressed, worried daily if you are making or losing. People who can see the future and wont worry to much if they lose as they can make later are the only ones who should invest.

My advice brother is for you to cleanse yourself of all bad thoughts and any bad habits if you do have them.

Then bow down to the Lord. Once you understand this life is short and temporary and there are millions more who are worse off than you, the stress itself will reduce automatically.

Use your fear and project it on your goals and ambitions.

This is a beautiful post. If these are your core principles of life, nothing much will stress you out.

Note: There are people suffering from serious health issues but this is about stress.
