With 48 letters required for triggering leadership challenge against Teresa May, could it be that we will have a Pakistani (even if only by the merest of definitions) Prime Minister in UK. This may hasten Tommy Robinson to that exact job, if i stick with my Trump only came about because of Obama hypothesis).

Thinking about it, in the fields of Politics, Media, Culture and Sports dont Pakistani figure just more highly than Indians.

Sure Indians may occupy more CEO positions in Business but everywhere else, Pakistanis prevail. We have arrived.

Hoping I am not falling foul of confirmation bias.

Your post is a little unclear, but if you are stating that there are now Pakistanis in politics in the UK, well done.

No need to keep Indians as a benchmark - make your own across whatever field and look to improve on it.

Thank you for pointing out that it needs clarification or perhaps you are unsure where I am coming from. I suspect you are being disingenuous at best and sarcastic at better.

Pakistsnis have been in British politics since way way back. The _only_ reason i bring it up is because we might occupy the _top_ spot.

In a different scenario Hasnat Khan could have been the stepfather to the King of England, that'd be two tops spots. Can't really see Princess Di going out with a
Atharv Gunga Ram.

As for benchmark, seriously? Is this a forum?

Confirmed..... May to face a leadership challenge.

Let's see if Sajid will throw his hat in the ring. My suspicion is not yet.

Leadership contest is on. Dominic Raab is favourite. Favourites dont win these contests.

Sajid Javid is joint third favourite.

Man imagine an electoral race......

Sajid Javed vs Sadiq Khan for PM!

The true colours of the 'liberal' populace will be out in no time!

Hobson's Choice? At least one would get in.

I have to issue a correction. From wiki

The term "Hobson's choice" is often used to mean an illusion of choice, but it is not a choice between two equivalent options, which is a Morton's fork, nor is it a choice between two undesirable options, which is a dilemma. Hobson's choice is one between something or nothing

I see, a Hobsons choice is when as or if one is a smoker who only smokes say Marlboro Red, then when in moment of desperation and no other means and the only cigarette available one is a B&H, that is when one is faced with a Hobsons Choice.

We have Zayn Malik, warts and all, you have Jay Sean. (I prefer Jay Sean, whats he doing nowadays?).

Personally I don't believe either Javed or Khan are PM material. Think back to the qualities that inspired the first election of a black President in America. Obama was handsome, articulate and carried a certain authority which the majority public ( WASP basically) could respect. Which of those two do you think can command any of that?

Khan is portrayed as more of a nuisance in London with his lefty punishment of car owners, and Javed is only being wheeled out to say the stuff which normal tory hardliners would be scared to say for fear of being labelled racist. If these guys actually have any leadership credentials, it's not evident from reading any popular media sources.

Lol, the tory's are all about the tories and their a bunch of racists so no, sajid will never get in..

48 letters does not trigger a leadership challenge - it triggers a vote of no confidence. When/if May wins that there cannot be another such vote for a year.

48 Tory MPs isn’t the important number, 158 is the number of Tory MPs needed to force May out and then we’d have a leadership contest.

What's all this rubbish about Corbyn could be PM within days, reported by sky and a number of media outlets.

And also, it doesn't bother me if the PM is Pakistani or not so long he does a good job.

It’s a long shot but if May lost the no confidence vote there is a 2 week period where anyone who thinks they have the numbers could attempt to form a government.

Corbyn/Labour with the support of the SNP, LDs, PC, Greens could in theory form a minority government. That’s assuming the DUP dump the Tories and abstain. It wouldn’t last very long though and we’d have to have another election.

Labour would be mad to form a Government under this scenario... it will be equally if not more chaotic and with SNP belligerent about no Brexit, it would kill Labour chances in the subequent GE.

Haha. Comparing any politician to Obama prepresident is setting toughest benchmark in rhe political world. I bet they would have an even chance of being better than him in office.

I'd rather it not happen at all, if it does, it would hasten the arrival of Tommy Robinson PM. Articulate, handsome lol.

My apologies, i jumped the gun.

How has he become Home Secretary if Tories are racists to a man/woman?

Home Secretary - is top tier, in the cabinet I guess only the top job and Chancellor beat it in seniority (perceived or not) it used to be on a par with Foreign Secretary but nowadays with Britian's position exacerbated by the Great Tory Party Panghaa(argh) which was the referendum, even the Foreign Secretary had less perceived clout.

Oh bhai he's a coconut. The only acceptable brown sahib they like..married to a white lady, non religious, naam da apna etc etc..but a leader? no chance..theyll never want to be ordered around by a brown sahib..

None of them are favourites.

May will win, but she'll have to go before the next election.

When it comes to Tory leadership contests their MPs narrow it down to two candidates and then the Tory members pick from the two candidates via postal ballots. Tory members are old (average age of 72 according to the Bow group) and predominantly white. Really can’t see them voting for a brown or black person anytime soon. Of course if all the other candidates drop out (like they did when May became leader) then it doesn’t go to the members and perhaps someone like Javid would then have a chance.

Their membership is dwindling and they know they are essentially on their lasts legs as a major political party. They really need some fresh faces at the top to change the direction of the party. If I were in charge I would completely overhaul the party to appeal to a different class of voter. But alas I dont think they can. Its a party of the walking dead.

You should have gone into politics, you have the necessary traits.

Or its shows the strength of the Liberal population that 2 people from Minorities can come this close to be PM.
