Is a war between a Taliban based Afghanistan and Pakistan a possibility?

Om shanti .

I don't think the soldiers deployed there even know what they are fighting against, just some random Establishment sending them to places which were peaceful just 2-3 years ago.

If Pakistan goes to Nato to ask for money to counter the terrorists in NW and Balochistan, then clearly it will point to who is responsible- Western Military Complex and Pak Establishment.

Baloch freedom movement is by the strongest independence movement in the subcontinent region at present and Pakistan military has no answer to it. They’ve tried every possible way to suppress to Baloch people just like they tried with Bengalis in 1971 but whereas Bengalis were genetically inferior and lower class hence easy to stomp, the same methodology has failed terribly with the historically brave Pashtoons whom the Punjabi Pakistanis have alienated from themselves irreversibly. There’s more chances of Sun rising in the West than Baloch people forgetting about the atrocities faced by them for decades.

Muslim brotherhood is stronger than you think, I see how Bangladeshis are now, they are going on saying Pakistani army only assaulted Bangladeshi Hindus , So India should stay away and let Pakistani Awam and others deal with this.

I have seen Pakistanis have no issues with Muslim killings when Muslims do it, most of them still back Erdogan.

To be honest the only Bangladeshi everyone regards highly here hasn’t posted at all ever since these things started and it is understandable. To an extent same for Pakistanis, all of the generally highly regarded Pakistani posters on such topics have maintained respectful distance from such discussions. I’d do the same if Bharat or Hindus do something incredibly stupid that I cannot defend. What you see is either seasoned trolls or just the obnoxious internet brats who create a hostile environment on purpose so everyone’s worst comes out for their sadistic pleasure.

Also it doesn't matter how 'cultists' PTI supporters are. The facts are the Faujis have tortured, vanished, kidnapped, molested not only political workers but their families - wives, sisters, daughters, sons, old parents, they have killed journalists, kidnapped others. My best friend's old frail FIL died of a heart attack in Pakistan because these people kept on harrassing and raiding his house to kidnap his teenage son. The crime? For posting a social media post supporting Imran Khan. Nothing else.

PTI supporters can be worshipping Imran Khan, making his statues and bowing 24/7, making cults for him....x 10....it doesn't change the above facts about the Faujis.

After controlling the nation with an iron first for EIGHTY years nearly....the nation is bankrupt, lawless and in borderline anarchy, ridden with poverty and every foreign policy an utmost failure....so spare us the cult lectures. PTI can be the biggest cult in history, it doesn't change anything about the above.

Pakistan practices extreme media control and inhumane revolution suppression tactics. Yet some content has been able to come to social media platforms and it’s evident the Pashtoons feel alienated from Punjabi Pakistani nationalism and are in no mood to compromise.

By going after PTI the establishment has dealt a severe blow to Pakistani patriotism. Pakistani public are confused why the military spend so much of Pakistan's resources on military hardware and end up using them only on their own people.

Not even PTI. You can despise PTI and post against the army and you'll be picked up in Pakistan and if you're not home then your family will be. There was an Aussie citizen (this was also in a news report with audio) who posted something anti-army and his brother in Pakistan was picked up and beaten on the phone call. The person in question was not even a PTI supporter.

The question which is asked is when crime rate is exploding, terror attacks increasing, a rag tag military next door on Toyota pickups giving us threats but the most important thing is installing cameras in peoples' bedrooms for blackmail, for the military. What exactly is the military's purpose then? Indians run amok assassinating Pakistanis, Chinese engineers are blown up constantly and 1400 soliders are dead since 2022.

Is this the reason why majority of Pakistanis stay away from threads like these which are about real life implications for Pakistanis but are mostly seen posting in what Domino’s pizza delivery boys are going in Bharat etc.

I have also seen so many awful videos. Of Police and Lahore eg arresting women for protesting and then flashing their genitals making vile threats. Just women, normal women like our mothers, sisters and daughters. Countless videos online of houses being raided, women being hit, dupattas torn. And their men, in lot of cases kids as young as 18, being taken. And then smashed, again countless videos on Twitter of this.

This is what occupying forces due to the women they conquer. But this is instead happening in the heartland of Pakistan.

Now imagine this for 75 years where your women are molested, your men picked up and vanished. And then ask yourself why there is insurgency in certain areas.

Indians will happily like my post for posting against the army but they should ask this question to themselves when it comes to Kashmir too.

The establishment has almost given up pretending it is anything other than a client state for sale to the highest bidder. Unfortunately this will end with support for whoever has the most will to take them out, and that will probably end up being the Taliban. It will turn into Syria 2.0 with the establishment being Pakistan's version of Assad.

In any military men are found guilty of such acts, strictest punishment is given to them. I don’t pretend that our military are angels while your demons. But historically speaking our military has been a lot lot more professional and humane in dealing with militanch compared to yours mostly because military doesn’t run this country , the politicians do.

Also Bharat controlled Kashmiris a progress story in 2024. Srinagar is a transformed city and safer than ever before. It was also the most visited destination during winter season this year as a lot of tourists who used to go to Manali, Shimla previously on winters preferred going to Srinagar. This is not because of improved safety situation and growing tourism related businesses in Kashmir. This wasn’t imaginable a decade ago.

If there was widespread resentment in Kashmir, the local people wouldn’t be welcoming tourists happily. Can this be said about Balochistan in Pakistan?

I have faith in people of Pakistan for not turning their country into another Syria. Things are bad but Pakistanis will rise from this situation.

I think there is nothing going on between Afghanistan and Pakistan. I go to Pak news sites they are busy about Modi’s India and Gaza.

On PP, the concern is about Muslim PM in India and Dominos Pizza deliver boys in India.

So I think this Pak-Afghan conflict is all American and Indian media propaganda.

'Old Practice To Blame Neighbours': India Condemns Pakistan Airstrikes On Afghanistan

The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghanistan recently which claimed over 40 lives in the Paktika province and said that it is an “old practice of Pakistan to blame its neighbours for its own internal failures".

“We have noted the media reports on airstrikes on Afghan civilians, including women and children, in which several precious lives have been lost," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal

“We unequivocally condemn any attack on innocent civilians. It is an old practice of Pakistan to blame its neighbours for its own internal failures. We have also noted the response of an Afghan spokesperson in this regard," he added.

70 Pakistan army persons feared dead in the recent attack in Turbat. Shanti to all the jawans who lost their life while performing their duty

Om Shanti.

So many personal lost their life but nothing in pakistan msin stream media .

I think hosting the champion trophy is more important for them so they doesn't want to disclosed the situation to international community.

As many as 47 security personnel were killed and more than 30 others were injured in the Baloch Liberation Army's (BLA) "Fidayee unit" Majeed Brigade's suicide attack on a Pakistani army convoy near Balochistan's Turbat on Saturday, The Balochistan Post reported.

In a statement, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that the attack took place in the Behman area, which is located some eight kilometres from Turbat city, at around 5:45 pm (local time). He said the target was a convoy of 13 vehicles, including five buses and seven military vehicles, heading from Karachi to the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Turbat.

The group said that the Pakistan army convoy included personnel from MI 309, FC SIU, FC 117 Wing, FC 326 Wing, FC 81 Wing, and retired army Captain Zohaib Mohsin, who now serves as a police official, The Balochistan Post reported.

The BLA claimed that one bus was "completely destroyed," others were partially disabled and one military vehicle was demolished in the blast, which it said was coordinated with help from its intelligence wing, "ZIRAB."

The statement said, "ZIRAB had provided authentic information that an enemy convoy was leaving Karachi for Turbat and included important troops of the occupying army." The BLA said that the attack's success showcases the "excellent performance" of its intelligence and the "unparalleled sacrifice of the Fidayee Sangat."

The statement said, "The success of this mission reflects the excellent performance of our intelligence and the unparalleled sacrifice of the Fidayee Sangat. This attack is a clear message that the land of Balochistan will never be safe for the occupying state."

The attacker has been identified as "Fidayee Sangat Bahar Ali" from Qohda Murad Muhammad Bazar in Turbat's Dasht Hochat area. According to BLA, he joined the Baloch national movement in 2017 and served on both urban and mountain fronts. He also volunteered for the Majeed Brigade's "Fidayee" mission in 2022, The Balochistan Post reported.

The BLA has accused Pakistani forces of "torturing innocent Baloch people, opening fire, and forcibly disappearing many individuals." It asked transport owners not to facilitate what it terms the "occupying army" and threatened to burn vehicles involved in resource extraction.

The group further said that Balochistan's highways would be "made unsafe" for the army, state agents, and investors, based on intelligence shared by "ZIRAB" and urged civilians to avoid state convoys, according to The Balochistan Post report.

In the statement, the BLA said, "Our land will always remain insecure for the occupying state, and we will not step down from our struggle until we achieve liberation."

Meanwhile, the authorities initially said that there were 11 fatalities in the Turbat suicide attack on the FC convoy on Saturday. However, the authorities have not released any new updates since the statement issued by BLA.

FO says Wakhan Corridor part of Afghan territory, denies reports of annexation

Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, in his maiden weekly press briefing on Thursday, rejected reports of the annexation of the Wakhan Corridor and said that it was a part of Afghanistan.

The Wakhan Corridor is a thin, mountainous strip in Afghanistan’s northeastern Badakhshan province which extends up to the relatively small border with China’s Xinjiang province. It also separates Tajikistan from Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region.

“I have seen this endless speculation. Wakhan is part of Afghan territory. Afghanistan is a neighbouring country. We recognise its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the newly appointed spokesperson said.

“There is no question of Pakistan having designs on one of its neighbours. I deem it speculative and totally erroneous actually.”

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been strained due to frequent border skirmishes and Islamabad repeatedly demanding Kabul take action against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for using Afghan soil to launch attacks in Pakistan. Kabul denies the allegations.

The spokesperson added that the two countries understood the importance of relations and wanted to nurture good ties, however, he reiterated that “the key issue remained terrorists seeking sanctuary on Afghan soil.”

He said both countries were in contact on the matter “through an ongoing multilayered engagement”.

'Afghan military commander killed in Pakistan'

An Afghan military commander was among 14 militants killed in an operation by Pakistani forces, security sources said on Monday.

Identified as Mujeebur Rehman, also known as Mansoor, he was eliminated during a February 28 operation in Ghulam Khan Kalay.

Mujeeb, son of Mirza Khan, hailed from Dandar village in Afghanistan’s Maidan Wardak province and served as a commander in the third battalion of Afghanistan’s National Military Academy, the sources revealed.

In a separate operation on January 30, security forces killed another Afghan militant, Badruddin, in Dera Ismail Khan. He was a lieutenant in the Afghan army and the son of the deputy governor of Bagdhis province.

The development came against the backdrop of increased terrorist incidents in Pakistan which Islamabad has time again urged Kabul to not allow its territory to be used by terrorist groups to carry out attacks against Pakistan. — something vehemently denied by the Afghan Taliban-led administration.

The two nations share a porous border spanning around 2,500 kilometres with several crossing points which hold significance as a key element of regional trade and relations between the people across both sides of the fence.

The diplomatic effort is coupled with ongoing kinetic action against terrorists by security forces who continue to engage in operations, eliminating a number of militants and thwarting multiple infiltration attempts.

However, the issue of terrorism remains a key issue for Pakistan which has urged Afghanistan to prevent its soil from being used by groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to carry out attacks inside the former's territory.

Islamabad's reservations have also been confirmed by a report submitted to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) by the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team which has revealed a nexus between Kabul and the TTP with the forming providing logistical, operational and financial support to the latter.

Residents fled a border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan after forces from both sides clashed into the early hours of Tuesday, a Pakistani official said

It was the second consecutive day of ***-for-tat gunfire at Torkham, a key crossing between the two countries that has been closed since Feb. 21 because of a dispute between the two neighbors.

The Pakistani official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak with the media, said that gunfire overnight Monday spread fear and panic among residents.

They fled to safer locations as security forces on both sides shot at each other with light and heavy weapons.

“The situation remains tense and security is on high alert,” the official said. Three Pakistani security personnel were wounded in the latest clash. There were no civilian casualties.

One person waiting to cross into Pakistan was Sana Gul. He said drivers, patients, passengers and traders were all in trouble because of the prolonged closure and that Torkham should not be shut over “minor incidents.”

In Kabul, Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qani said Tuesday that authorities would continue their efforts to resolve the issue through talks.

Both countries have in the past closed Torkham and the southwestern Chaman border crossing, most often over deadly shootings and crossfire. The crossings are vital for trade and travel between Pakistan and landlocked Afghanistan.

Terrorists continue to operate from Afghan soil against Pakistan: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, visited Bannu today, following the foiled terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment by Khwarij on 4 March 2025, Inter-Services Public Relations said.

According to the military’s public relations wing, during the visit, the COAS was briefed on ongoing operations and the overall security situation of the area.

He also visited Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Bannu to inquire about the health and well-being of the injured soldiers, acknowledging their resilience and unwavering dedication.

The COAS commended the high morale and steadfast resolve of the troops, reaffirming that Pakistan Army would continue to serve as a bulwark against terrorism to ensure the security and stability of the state.

According to ISPR, the COAS expressed profound condolences to the families of innocent civilians who lost their lives in this henious and cowardly terrorist incident.

He also assured that while the perpetrators of the incident were neutralized instantly by the valiant soldiers, however, the planners and facilitators of the dastardly attack would also be brought to justice soon, wherever they may be.

He underscored that the barbaric targeting of civilians including children, women and the elderly exposed the true intentions of Khwarij as enemies of Islam.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of the local community, he reiterated that national unity is imperative in the fight against terrorism and assured that the Armed Forces would spare no effort in ensuring the safety and security of the people of Pakistan.

While addressing the troops, the COAS lauded their heroic actions, recognizing their swift and decisive response in neutralizing the attackers and thwarting their nefarious designs.

He further stated that the fight against Khwarij and their facilitators, acting on the behest of hostile elements, would continue until its logical conclusion.

Pakistan to take ‘all necessary measures’ against terrorist outfits based in Afghanistan: Akram

Pakistan has reiterated that it will continue to take “all necessary measures” to protect the country from terrorist outfits in Afghanistan, calling out Kabul for “failing” to address the threat posed to the region.

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been strained due to frequent border skirmishes and Islamabad repeatedly demanding that Kabul take action against the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for using Afghan soil to launch attacks in Pakistan. Kabul denies the allegations.

Speaking during the UN Security Council (UNSC) briefing on Afghanistan in New York yesterday, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram stated: “Pakistan will continue to take all necessary measures to eliminate the terrorist threats to our national security in accordance with our right to self-defence under international law and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council.”

He asserted that the Kabul authorities had “failed to address the threat posed to the region and beyond by other terrorist groups, such as Al-Qaeda, the TTP and Baloch terrorists, including the BLA (so-called Balochistan Liberation Army) and the Majeed Brigade, which are present in Afghanistan”.

“The TTP, with 6,000 fighters, is the largest designated terrorist organisation operating from Afghanistan,” the ambassador highlighted.

The banned outfit was “perceived as enjoying Kabul’s patronage” and was fast emerging as an umbrella organisation for regional terrorist groups, the envoy reiterated his warning from last year.

He said that Pakistan had the evidence against Kabul authorities that they “not only tolerated but are complicit in the conduct of TTP’s terrorist cross-border attacks”.

Akram further stated that the TTP was collaborating with other terrorist groups present in Afghanistan, like the BLA and the Majeed Brigade, adding that the latter sought to destabilise Pakistan’s ties with China.

“The TTP also receives external support and financing from our principal adversary,” the envoy said in an apparent reference to India.

Akram continued: “Pakistan has faced the adverse impacts of the series of crises Afghanistan has lived through, during the past 40 years — hosting millions of Afghan refugees, infected by its extremist groups and the inflow of arms and drugs.”

“In the 20-year conflict, which ended in 2021, Pakistan consistently advocated engagement and sought to broker an inclusive peace,” he said, referring to the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan.

During his address, the ambassador also spoke on the restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan, stating that the restrictions were also against Islam. “The human rights situation in Afghanistan is another self-inflicted injury,” he said.

According to the 35th report of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team submitted to the UNSC last month, Afghan Taliban’s continued support for TTP was fuelling the group’s escalating attacks in Pakistan.

The “scale of outfit’s attacks in Pakistan has increased significantly” and the “status and strength of TTP in Afghanistan had not changed”, the UN report noted.

It further confirmed that the Afghan Taliban continued to provide the outlawed TTP with “logistical and operational space and financial support, bolstering the group’s capacity to sustain its activities”.

In January this year, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir had said the only point of contention between Pakistan and Afghanistan was the presence of the TTP and cross-border attacks.

The month before that, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while reiterating his call for improved relations with Afghanistan, had also emphasised that the administration in Kabul must rein in the TTP first.

In November 2022, the TTP broke a fragile ceasefire agreement with the Pakistani government, vowing to escalate attacks across the country and target police, security forces, and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

Amid escalating attacks, Pakistan has intensified military operations under “Azm-i-Istehkam”, targeting TTP hideouts across the Afghan border, particularly in Paktika and Khost. These military measures include cross-border raids and retaliatory strikes.

17 more terrorists ‘backed by Indian masters’ killed at Pak-Afghan border: ISPR

Security forces killed 17 more terrorists during a sanitisation operation conducted near the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan, along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.

According to the ISPR statement, the latest operation took place overnight between April 27 and 28, following successful engagements where security forces had killed 54 militants during operations from April 25 to 27.

The military’s media wing stated that the neutralised terrorists were operating at the behest of "Indian masters" and were actively plotting attacks inside Pakistan.

The number of Khawarij eliminated during the three-day anti-infiltration operation has risen to 71, the statement added.

Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives during the operation. The ISPR reaffirmed that the military remains determined to secure the country’s borders and counter all efforts aimed at destabilising Pakistan.

Previously, on Sunday, security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt by militants near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The militants’ movements were detected during the nights of April 25-26 and 26-27, leading to a prolonged armed engagement. Intelligence reports suggested that the group intended to carry out significant attacks within Pakistan, allegedly under instructions from external actors.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their successful operation, describing it as a strong testament to Pakistan’s progress in the war against terrorism.

In an official statement, the PM commended the troops for their “remarkable professionalism and timely action,” highlighting their success in repelling an infiltration attempt by Fitna al Khwarij terrorists from across the Afghan border in the Hassan Khel area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

“The entire nation stands firmly with our security forces in the fight against terrorism,” he said, reaffirming that Pakistan’s armed forces remain “resolute in defending the country’s borders and eradicating the scourge of terrorism.”
