Is an aggressive Asad Shafiq what Pakistan need in Tests?

I am not sure about his pedigree against half decent bowling. He is just holding his place after some pretty awful performances over last year or so

His technique is not suited to slow down against this attack on this pitch. he is clear lbw candidate so he is better play fast some how with luck manage to score 60 of 100 rather than scoring slow15 of 60 and get out

A lot of his centuries have came at a SR of 60+. This isn’t “new” Asad Shafiq. It is just in form Asad Shafiq.

All batting needs impetus and intent to scoring, he does score fairly quickly when in full flow so no harm in controlled aggression.

Think its the attitude - nothing timid.

Also his running between wickets is excellent

He scores many runs in the 4th innings and when it doesn't matter because he tries to take risks, and actually intends to score. Whenever he plays a 'normal' innings I think he second guesses himself too much.

He should try to play like this more often.

Have seen too much of Shafiq, he is a mental midget, never steps up when required, only scores when there is no pressure or scores when the match is lost but never does it when he is expected too.
