Lol Pakistan doesn't even deserve to play with a great side like India. Pakistan is losing to WI while India is winning in England. It's a complete mismatch.
Pakistan is only fit to play against SL , WI , Bangaldesh and Zimbabwe.
I expect India and New Zealand to be in the final again.
Whatever has happened in T20 Semi Final
Is history now. It is a game of luck and small margins.
But Pakistan now needs to strongly focus on playing in the Final of ICC Test Championship at Lord’s in 2023.
Upcoming Test Series v Bangladesh (2 Tests) and Australia at Home (3 Tests) needs to be whitewashed.
That will give us very high PCT %.
Away Tour to Sri lanka in Summer should not be problemtic as well.
I think by the time New zealand and England play Test matches in Pakistan latter part of 2022/early 2023, i just think we will have very good shout and odds on making it to the final.
Our Test team at home is not bad at all. But is it really a priority of PCB ( and even Players). Do they value it or are only thinking about Next Year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
Interestingly even in this forum i do not see many people interested or excited by the idea of Pakistan playing the Final of Test Cricket World cup against India in June 2023.
Because India will be finalist as their Test team is good.
Test cricket has less takers and fans because it's a sophisticated game. Test cricket is a fine dining dish, T20 is fast food, latter always has more takers because it's easier to make even at home.
I'm very excited at the prospect of India and Pakistan playing the first Test in nearly 20 years when they meet at the Lords in 2023. Shaheen will probably rip through our top order, but ripping test cricket will still make it worthwhile.

Dont think Australia have a chance. They will loose at least 3 out 5 tests this Ashes. It would be an incredible occasion, but perhaps not quite at the moment. India v Australia for the final looks more likely in this particular cycle.

Congratulations, you have passed your Tebbit test!.
Now snap back to reality.
Australia are not playing India this time to lose those manyDont think Australia have a chance. They will loose at least 3 out 5 tests this Ashes.
Nah, Aus is top contender for final. They will wipe floor at home with Eng, WI and SA (probably winning between 80-100% of avlbl points and losing no matches)
Then away they should smash SL and if they can draw a few tests in Pak and India or snatch a win they will be fine
It's on!!!
Can't wait to see India and Pakistan lock horns in a Test match after 16 years!
Remaining Matches for Pakistan in this cycle of WTC
3 vs Australia: Australia did beat India last time they toured India, So I expect them to win at least 1 match in Pakistan, especially the test match at Pindi. My Prediction 1-1 draw
2 vs S.L: My Prediction 1-1 draw. Because on those spinning wickets vs quality spinners, Pakistan will lose at least 1 game.
3 vs Eng: Pakistan can seriously defeat England in all 3 games because they have a very average test team. My Prediction 3-0 to Pakistan.
2 vs NZ: My Prediction 1-1 Draw. Kiwis managed to get a draw in India as well plus they have beaten us in our last home test series in UAE. Pakistan didn't even manage to beat them in 3 match series under Misbah. So they will definitely win at least 1 match.
By looking at all these I don't think realistically Pakistan has any chance of playing final of WTC but it's Pakistan cricket so anything can happen.
Is the Pakistan series v England in England?.
I can’t envisage a 3-0. Maybe 2-1 either way
In the current cycle WTC cycle pakistan were given pretty favourable fixtures compared to last time. The next 4 test series are all in Asia, yes they away series is in Sri lanka but those conditions shouldnt be a concern to the players. we have beaten Sri lanka, bangladesh and South Africa in test series since cricket returned to pakistan. The next 3 test series at home wont be easy however if we get team selections correct, team balance correct then i cant see why we cant win all 3 home series and win in Sri lanka.
Team selection.
Openers - This has been a huge area of concern and was something that was exposed in SA (home series) and WI (away) and we cant afford to get off to poor starts. For now openers are Abid and Shafique. Abid needs to score runs against better teams, we are in home conditons so there should be no excuse. Shafique needs to be given a run in the side for at least a couple of series to see how he does.
number 3 - Time to move on from Azhar Ali, hes 36 now has pretty much been poor majority of the time over last 3-4 years since Misbah/YK left. yes you get the odd good inns. overall hes been exposed by decent quick bowlers and his batting has got even slower. We have plenty of good young middle order batsmen who could come in. Be given next 4 series (10-11 tests to establish themselves.
Saud shakeel has done well Domestically and also for the shaheens. He would slot in well at number 3, also the fact he can bowl Left arm spin allows some extra balance to the team.
Number 4 Babar - in terms of captaincy im the field it really needs to improve in the way he uses his bowlers and field settings. He gets way to defensive quickly and seems to hope for wickets when a game drifts instead of being proactive. Also needs to improve how he plays spin, espcially when we come to play sri lanka.
number 5 - Fawad Alam, provides experience in batting (even more so if we give Azhar the boot) - needs to score more than 1 big knock per series but for now stays in the team.
number 6 Rizwan - no issues here Auto pick.
number 7 - This place is up for grabs. For me faheem doesnt offer enough as 3rd seamer and we need more potency then he offers with the ball especially when we will be playing better sides. i think a 3rd front line seamer needs to be picked. for that reason number 7 needs to be :- kamran ghulam/Saharan khan/Nawaz - one of these guys would bolster batting and provide another spin option
3 seamers - Shaheen is an Auto pick. Hasan for me in a two man attack is hot and cold, hes not good wiv new ball but can do damage with with older ball we need to bring in The 3rd seamer needs to be someone who can do well with new ball and offer control.
Spinner - i think we need to pick one front line spinner. Yasir is on his last legs so picking him now can be seen as a risk. Sajid khan was best spinner in bangladesh so looks like a toss up between him and Yasir for me in final X1. Nauman Ali was very disappointing in bangldesh and i think we can more than cover his overs from players in our top 7.
2nd spin options will come from Saud, fawad and who ever is picked at number 7.
i think for next 4 series (Aus/eng/NZ at home and SL away) we should be looking at
Abid
Shaffique
Saud - Spin option
Babar
Fawad - spin option
Rizwan
Ghulam/shadab/nawaz - Spin option
Dhani / Sameen Gul / Haris Rauf
shaheen
Hasan
Yasir/sajid khan
----
In the squad aside from names above
Imam
Nauman Ali
Zahid Mahmood
Fahim Ashraf
If it did come to an India v Pakistan final it will be interesting to see what BCCI would do.
Forfeit or play?
Australia back in 2016 tour won 1 Test in india.
I think they will atleast win 1 test in india this time too.
They will lose against England in one off test.
These 2 defeats will put Aus-Pak in hot seat to contest final.
But pakistan has to win remaining 2 test matches v Australia. It is important.
Even if Australia wins a test in India, how does that make up for all the points they're going to drop in the remaining games (in Asia)?
And how are you so sure of India losing the one-off test in England? Matlab kuch bhi..
India just lost 2 tests in South Africa.
England Red ball team is in process of winning back their supporters, series is on the line, they will come all guns blazing for that 5th test.
For that to happen Pakistan will have to win this series convincingly, they are too busy losing points already
I really wish we see an India and Pakistan final.
There's still a chance if Australia lose to SA at home as they always do against the saffas at home.
It's not all over. We can still get there, theoretically. But that starts with winning in SL. Can't afford to lose or draw any match there.
Guess India can beat Australia and move up but the outcome of the SL v PAK could make things interesting for sure.
India wont make it. Pakistan have a very easy schedule so they will be there in the final.
India well on their way to the final - Pakistan, less said the better

WTC situation
Seventh - Pakistan - 38.89% of possible points
Remaining series: New Zealand (home, two Tests)
Best possible percentage finish: 47.62%
If Pakistan can win their final two Test matches this period - they host New Zealand in a quickfire series that commences later this month - they can finish with a win-percentage as high as 47.62 percent.
That could be enough for them to finish in front of seven other sides and claim second place on the final standings, but this is what also needs to occur:
- Australia will be their best ally as they will require Pat Cummins side to continue on their winning ways against South Africa and then next year against India
- They will need Bangladesh to do them a favour and cause a huge upset by defeating India in their ongoing Test series in Mirpur
- They will need New Zealand to defeat Sri Lanka in both of their Test matches in March next year
- They will require the West Indies to defeat South Africa in one of the two Tests away from home next year and then hope the second match ends as a draw (this would ensure both sides finish lower than Pakistan on the standings)
