I don't think anyone doubts that the guy has quality and potential. He's not seeing his own potential as far as I'm concerned because it seems like he wants the glory for playing a 10 ball 20 rather than wanting a 20 ball 50 or even a higher score.
The point is, today was a rare innings from Haider Ali were I saw him really give himself some time to structure the chase. Yes, he started off aggressively with a few boundaries, but he kept rotating strike, and did not play many dot balls either. That's the biggest plus sign, he took singles and got off strike, and then targeted one or two bowlers to get some runs from.
Hopefully he understands that he needs to give himself time, and he should use the example of Hafeez. You don't need shere power to excel in T20 cricket, you need timing and placement. However, you also need to take advantage of field placements. No offense to Babar, but his shot selection is a bit limited, sometimes you have to advance to the seamers and create scoring opportunities as well, which I don't see him doing. Yes, you have your strong zones, but you won't get the ball there all the time, so he should also see if he can improve his power hitting like Hafeez has done.
If someone like Haider can mature into his role by the end of this PSL, it will be a huge plus for Pakistan, as we'll have an in form team ahead of the WC.
Form and confidence are two of the biggest factors for winning any tournament, you could be one of the weakest teams on paper but rise above the best if you play according to your strengths and if you're in form.
