Based on the travel vlogs I have seen, it seems like there’s a lot of chaos, pollution, scams etc in most of ind. My interest in visiting has actually diminished with time. The negative propaganda against ind on social media doesn’t help.

It’s all islands so I felt stuck at the resort. You can say I planned it poorly.

If I were to go again I would go to Male’ the capital. Their language’s script is very similar to Arabic which is interesting. I would like to get more of a cultural experience which is my thing.

Every South Asian country has the same challenges of not being first world, dirty, polluted, bad infrastructure, lack of tourist friendly stuff, very poor digital infrastructure, banking restrictions , scams and safety risk to women.

Pakistan and present day Bangladesh has the added risk of Islamic terrorists who has and can attack foreign tourist specially non muslims. These same terrorists are pushed into India to target Indians and foreigners but it has been dominated at a huge cost.

So all the stories you hear online are true but still a miniscule portion of the tourists visiting India. Only the vocal minority will go ahead and make these claims publicly. Same goes as Mexico and Colombia being drug capital and cartel land etc. There is truth in it and as Indian forget forumiegners even Indian women are not safe.

But India is perfectly ok to visit if you take the following common sense precautions


Don't trust strangers
Go in groups
If possible have a trusted local tour manager.
Avoid secluded off beat areas
Dress modestly
Stay in reputed hotels and eat in reputed restaurants.
Be careful where you go at night...avoid too many clubs or get drunk unless you are with trusted people and have transportation.

Most of the mishaps happen in shady hotels or when tourists go with strangers to secluded areas. If you go on bike safari in Bihar or UP hinterlands or the Haryana villages...you are calling trouble... forget tourist women..even Indian women or Indian men are not safe in those areas. Common sense goes a long way in protecting your self

However that does not change the fact that our society is hostile and lack civic sense...we are backward country with crumbling infrastructure where two worlds collide...the affluent 300 millions Indians who live in gated highrises and travel in cars and the 1.3 billion others....the world's collide when they can't avoid traffic jam sewage issues pollution and general infrastructure outside the gated community.

India has a low cost budget and mid to high level hotels. Mid to high level hotels cost 60-80 dollars for equivalent service at 150-250 hotels in West. For example JW Marriott in my city is 80 dollar per night..same class of hotel in us is 500 to 600.30 dollars are basic hotels where Indians are comfortable with basic necessities but a western person will not be...then pay more.

As a tourist, I certainly have no desire to get ripped off by locals, get diarrhea or a stomach bug, grapple with mass pollution and lack of hygiene, and fear for women if I am travelling with them. Btw, these same factors also apply to Pakistan and Bangladesh, since you think I am being biased specifically towards India. The sub-continent is one of the worst places on the planet for a wide-variety of reasons. And this will become even more evident in the coming years when climate change rips this region apart.

The only appeal of visiting India for me is to see the historical sites and monuments.

This is the sad but true reality. Pak is not a safe place for women either. I don’t think female international tourists in Pak would feel safe using public transport for example.

You'll be disappointed. I've been to his tomb in Aurangabad. Utterly nondescript place. The imitation Taj Mahal (Bibi ka Maqbara) he built for his wife's tomb is worth a visit but still pretty crappy compared to the kind of stuff his predecessors built.

I have already drastically reduced the number of posts and my time I spend here. All thanks to @MenInG stepping down and handing over the responsibilities to a few .... if you know what I mean.​

im not spreading hate, im linking people with thr experiences, and its not my fault that you or other dont follow YT tourists videos, and regarding not liking Pakistan and Bangldesh - thr isn't and thats not my fault either, people havenot liked Pakistan / bangladesh as some experiences - but as a whole thr like both countries.
