Is it fair that Pakistan has to play their hardest fixtures first in the World Cup?

Pakistan have played WI, Eng, Aus and Ind already and yet to play any of the so called minows like Ban, Afg.
If they had played at least of the lower ranked teams by now they could use that game to regroup and build confidence again. They’ve played all their crunch games one after the other. Is this fair??
 
Well India have so far played, South Africa, Australia, Pakistan and New Zealand. So it is not just Pakistan.
 
Bangladesh will be much more harder for pak to play. we already witnessed what afg did in the practice fixture.
 
Again with victim mentality. Other teams are probably complaining for playing minnows first when they played against Pakistan.

Bangladesh played their first 3 games against teams in the top 4 ODI ranked.
 
I don't think there is anything like easy fixtures when it comes to Pakistan.
Fixtures were decided well over a year ago. How would ICC know which team will be in form and which team won't be in form.
You would have thought West Indies and Sri Lanka are "easy" fixtures and Pakistan had these fixtures within their first 3 games.
No point moaning about fixtures.

Superiority complex. Don't worry, pride hath a fall. Recent losing streak of Pakistan is an example of our position/standing in world cricket. Nobody has to justify it.

And what's funny is, we are not ready to acknowledge our mistakes and weaknesses, instead we try to look for conspiracy and faults in others. Pathetic. Negative. Attitude. The exact reason, pakistan is so far behind compared to world, in not just cricket.
 
Playing Afghanistan & Bangladesh right at the end of the group stage is massive advantage to Pakistan. Imagine if those must-win games were against Australia & Westindies.

You played your first match against the 8th ranked ODI side the Windies and we all know what happened match. Stop complaining about fixtures. Waste of thread this. Pointless.

I see you point. But don't generalize it on the entire nation, that's wrong. However I was really surprised that Bangladesh is considered an easy fixture considering they were Asia Cup runners up and have been doing so well so far in World Cup. They chased freaking 322 against the same side that demolished Pakistan for 105!

It's about perception as well. Bangladesh is a minnow. India doesn't have fast bowlers. Australia are still the best even though they have fallen well below their usual standards. It's tough to change perceptions you see..
 
It would have not made any difference Pak would still lose to the top teams no matter. There is a possibility of 2 more losses coming up against NZ and Bangladesh.
 
Its advantageous to play weaker team later because it can help to manage Net Run Rate

First of all Bangladesh aren't minnows anymore, they've got a good setup and players who consistently deliver, they've got a more than fair chance of beating us aswell. The only team in this tourney who have the minnows tag is Afghanistan.

Nor do I think Paks order of play is unfair, other teams too have had to deal with playing stronger opponents initially. You make your own luck in cricket, can't be playing the victim card everytime.

And they got walloped and then some of them here started hyping windies like no tomorrow. We know windies well and how we’ve dealt with them for last couple of years, last 10 matches 9-2 to BD. I said it all along windies are poor ODI side just hyped because of Gayle and Russell. ODI is not the same as T20.

West Indies are a hit or miss team just like Pakistan. Pak-WI match was one where Pakistan had a bad day and WI didn't. It could easily have been the exact opposite. West Indies don't have a proper team culture. Gayle's batting is questionnable and Russell is as moronic as Afridi was with the bat.

Also the supposed minnow - Bangladesh is currently 5th on the points table.

India played against sa, aus, nz, pak so all of INDIA'S matches are easy matches, bcci has used its power right???????

Do you have any shame ? 2 of our first 3 games were against Sri Lanka and West Indies.
 
Somewhere I wrote here that the fixture for PAK is most suitable for a slow starter (shouldn’t be the excuse because they played 5-6 games in uk prior to WC). One WIN game actually indicates that had PAK got a fixture like NZ .... I am afraid they would have been in similar situation - that’s 1-2 wins from first 5 games and PP is dreaming of 11 points beating IND, Poms, NZ & AUS in last 4.

This team is just not good - running 1-13 or 5-22 against WC opponents. But, WIN was definitely lucky to start against PAK, Poms were unlucky to suffer the one upset that every tournament “enjoys” and who knows .... SRL might be unlucky for the rain.
 
Pakistan should be sent back home right after the first match where we cannot survive not even 25 overs against no. 9 team.
 
8 out of first 9 matches played by India and England are against minnows.That’s highly unfair to other teams. Pakistan has to play 6 hard matches. India only has one semi-hard fixture on 30th June.

But minnows can upset too.

Are you serious or insane or just a troll!!!! India’s first 4 games are SAF, NZ, AUS & PAK - bitter truth is PAK is minnows compared to other 3 teams.

England’s fixture started with 3rd ranked SAF, then PAK, BD, WIN & AFG ..... I guess out of those 9 games, in your book only PAK was non minnow.

And indeed, minnows can upset too - even against top seed.

Pak got two lower ranked teams out of their first there outings. Also pak is a slow starter in a tournament. So if I were an habitually slow starter I would rather face higher ranked teams in the beginning against whom I would be expected to lose at any stage anyway. Why take a chance and start against lower ranked team and lose few of them?

Regarding BD they are a clear better team than Pak in this tournament. If Pak wants to take whatever chance they have of reaching top four they better acknowledge it and start to prepare right away. If they hold on to the same attitude as OP they will waste whatever little opening they have

If we had any realistic chances of getting to the semis we needed to win against the Windies and Sri Lanka.
The devastating loss against the Windies was inexplicable and the rained off game against Sri Lanka was the nail in the coffin.

Those two results meant we had to beat the Aussies which we failed to do...

All in all the fixtures were just fine, it's just that we messed up when it mattered and the rain, well no one could account for that.

I think it is a BCCI conspiracy to keep Pakistan off balance. They know that Pakistan is an unpredictable team which can put an end to India's run. BCCI still haven't recovered from the thrashing of CT Final.

Quite suspicious. I think people should write petition in order to inquire about the matter from ICC.

BD must be shivering at thought of meeting Pakistan...considering Pakistan have lost last 14 out of last 15 encounters and BD has beaten WI and SA in this Worldcup itself not to forget the triseries win last month.
As ofr Afg might fancy their only Wcup victory in this tournament game :)) after the warmup game win .

Those two games were key, but of course the game against SL could easily have been lost as well, we might have been slight favourites. The Windies game was the real eye opener though. The capitulation against short bowling looks even more bizarre having seen them have very poor results since then using the same tactics. England and BD certainly put them in their place when they tried to bounce them out.

Was it only Pakistan who got the pitch with demons in it? (That was sarcasm by the way, before someone pipes up joyfully about BCCI conspiracy).

What a load of sorry excuses you have got there. PAK first game was against #9 ODI team, which beat pak black and blue. India played top teams as their first matches. Even Bangladesh played top ranked teams. Why leave Afg behind, they too went to play top ODI teams. This victim mentality needs to stop ... Sitting at almost at the bottom of the table, should not be throwing minnow remarks to other teams. Especially when one of those "minnow: team already beat pak in the practice games and another one sitting at #5 at the moment.
 
Oh ***! are we really going back to this conspiracy shi*t again, We got bowled out for 105 against West Indies. Our team forgot that the god damn t20 world cup was cancelled and didn`t get the message that it was the odi world cup and we still failed to post a good total! we played against England and we beat them and the BCCI and ICC who have an secret moon base and have an alliance with the Reptilians and the Annunaki and who control the weather and the world cup rained out the Pakistan vs Sl match. We were playing the mighty Sri Lankans and yet we are still complaining about how the icc is so mean to us and yet we still cant catch a cold on the field. Its time for PP to wear the tinfoil hat supplied by InfoWars so that we dont catch the frequency that the ICC is radiating to all households to make our reptilian brains believe that there is nothing going on and make us crazy for believing any of this. For Pakistan team, number 9 ranked team was a tough team to play and number 1 ranked team was an easy team to play.:yk

I don't think Pakistan's first opponent was too difficult (West Indies). They really should have won that game.

South Africa had a much tougher opening fixture.
