Are we treating our players like commodities?

Have some mercy PCB!

Aaqib Javed:

"It is difficult to play ODIs in hot weather,"

"T20 matches can be played in this season due to its timing and limited overs"

"For fast bowlers, its like playing in the well of death. For batters too, it will be difficult. Quality cricket is not going to happen, and it is just being played for points"

"It takes two to three weeks to adjust from cold to hot weather, but it didn't happen. This can affect the performance of the players"

Aussies used Ice Vets, cold drinks, iced energy drinks to cope with the unforgiving heat of the UAE. Our players should do the same.

You would never see anyone but poor boards turn up to play in this weather. Pakistan is showing their level.

Our home season should be from October to March. These ODIs should have been played sometime in February or March, but like every other cricketing nation, we have to have our crappy T20 league.

Nope. Its downright dangerous especially considering that the matches start at 4pm when its absolutely scorching outside.

I just hope nothing bad happens and that the players from both teams stay properly hydrated.

When WI toured in Dec the ODIs should've been played instead of those 3 useless T20Is.

I'm all for more cricket at home but this is barbaric. Such stifling hot weather also produces low intensity cricket as teams will play within themselves to conserve energy.

Aleem Dar lucky that he is fine - probably suffered a heatstroke.

So we have breaks because of rain, bad light, lunch and tea. Now we should have too hot and humid stopped play! What's next?

Both sides are probably used to with hot conditions. So, they should be fine.

SENA players might have struggled here.

Pakistan and West Indies have opted to cancel today's scheduled practice session due to the scorching heat of Multan.

According to details, PCB said that today's practice session has been cancelled to protect the players from health-related problems.

The weather conditions have been a talking point in the ODI series because the temperature is on the higher side.

In the first ODI, umpire Aleem Dar was replaced by fourth umpire Faisal Afridi when he started vomiting due to the sweltering weather.

Remember, the series was initially scheduled in Rawalpindi but due to political tensions in the capital, it was moved to Multan.

It must be noted Pakistan claimed win by five wickets in the first ODI of the series. The second ODI will be played tomorrow.

I don't know what PCB were thinking trying to organise ODIs in Multan at this time of the year.

As Markhor mentioned, the ODIs should have formed part of the test tour.

I have seen the aussies wear ice vests, have cold water, energy drinks and pour water over the heads in order to cope with the Heat of UAE in 2002. Why can't both teams do it here? Pakistani labourers in the middle east world in much tougher, squalid conditions. Players and officials need to man up.

I sympathize with the PCB about wanting to host international cricket back home after being denied for a decade plus. Only Keyboard warriors will slam the PCB for wanting to play Cricket in Pakistan. What the PCB needs to be doing on a long term basis is to urgently find the funds, man power and develop stadiums in the cooler regions of Pakistan i.e. Abbottabad, Muzzafarabad, Balochistan, Gwadar, KPK e.t.c so that you can play Cricket there when its blazzing hot and humid in other regions of Pakistan.

Pakistani labourers dont have any option. They are poor prople that are forced into this to earn. That doesnt mean you become barbaric and force them to work in such conditions..

No one is gonna bother about this. And they picked multan out of all the places. Its one of the most hottest cities. They probably made assumption that because the carribean players live in such conditions they shouldnt have a problem.....

Anyways, once again we have seen how terrible as a chairman Rameez really is.

We can all complain here but i know nothing will ever happen. We have list A tournaments and different tournaments go on in such weathers and no one cares about the players health...this will continue to happen until some major tragedy strucks.

I think we have had this argument atleast 10 times now. Having matches in these areas are not possible due to security issues.

Abbotabad has one single main road. It is a major security threat for players. Kashmir is disputed territory.

Balochistan is itself a security threat along with kpk. Gwader is also as warm as karachi. Plus gwader stadium looks beautiful on social media, but i saw its map, and it only has one main road for hotel and stadium purpose from the airport.

Might have struggled lol. There is a literal 0% chance a SENA team turns up to play in these conditions.

Very dangerous.

The players may live in such hot climate, however they don't play in such heat and run around, further warming up their bodies.

Really stupid timing from the pcb.

Yes lets play cricket in the most volatile regions in the country.

With the calendar so packed they had to squeeze these games in somewhere but poor organization from PCB in hindsight, lesson learnt for the future hopefully.

This is why you need to develop pitches in abbotabad mansehra swat gilgit areas where temperatures will be 10 degrees lower
