The NZ loss was bad as the last test loss to Windies. The highs from the England series have been erased somewhat, and now there is this feeling of our good times to suddenly come crashing down this series and that this is the end of Pakistani domination in tests... but this is the start.

The same feeling quite a few people had prior to the England series, and we know how that turned out. :yk2

Yes we have a poor record in Australia.

*Maybe* our confidence isn't at an all time high.

Pace attack can be hit or miss at times.

Younis Khan.

But other then all that we have a relatively solid opening pair, a good spinner, and if everyone just chips in with the bat like a UNIT in England where each game and each innings someone new took the reins and pushed us forward, then why can't we win..

We WILL and we CAN win this. Maybe not 3-0, but 2-1 Pakistan is definitely not a dream.

I hear Mitchell Starch has been giving us quite a bit in the press conference, but honestly feel like we'll do alright vs him.

Good luck to Pakistan. Would be good to have a SC team beat Australia in Australia. Would certainly provide fodder to the thrash talk between Indian and Pakistani fans in this forum :)

I think we'll compete unlike our last two tours which was one humiliation following another. In Australia, we've often failed to capitalise on strong positions - Hobart 1999, Melbourne 2004, Sydney 2010 to name a few. I hope this team has a different mindset.

Its also going to be an interesting clash of philosophies - the Misbah grind v Australian aggression. For years people have held up Australian cricket as the template to follow but their recent awful Test batting shows they could do with a bit of Pakistani-style grit.

They are vulnerable when the ball is seaming around so our pacers must hit the right length, not get carried away by the bounce by bowling too short, and not give their openers lightning starts like in England. Yasir can be a threat on the drier pitches of Melbourne and Sydney, and everyone knows how weak Australia are against spin.

As always it'll come down to the batting which has looked as solid as a wet pudding recently. 300 has to be the minimum and with us batting with some intent. We'll probably do OK on the flatter pitches of Melbourne and Sydney but Brisbane will be tough. Not only will there be lateral movement under lights with the pink ball but Australia haven't lost there since 1988 and we often come unstuck on bouncy wickets.

But then again, all streaks are meant to be broken. After all, New Zealand hadn't beat us in 31 years.
