What's new

Is Pakistan the best bowling unit in the 2017 Champions Trophy?

I just posted it on another thread. Hopefully its alright

Pitches have been flat and there is no Swing from new ball. What has been varying is Dryness level but
lets not even bring flat pitch excuse

Indian bowling is vulnerable between over no. 10 to 40 I am not Statistician but you will find this is where they Concede maximum runs

Pandya is Trash, Jaddu or Ashwin can be attacked and Mr. Jadhav will not be lucky every time

India would do well to play Umesh or they will be under huge problem. This Pakistani attack can make
anything in excess of 270 look petty dim

To there credit Indian Team has a mentality of Champion side and they attack with whatever they have
Kumar is the best new ball bowler they have better than Pakistan I would say Bumrah is excellent in Death
but its the underbelly which is bit of a problem

Of couse Pak has better bowlers, even blind 'Freddie' can see that.

Yeah obviously they are best bowling unit. There is no doubt about that. They have restricted 3 teams under 240 which is quite an achievement on these flat wickets.
Hasan Ali the babbar sher is best bowler from Asia has been the best bowler in the tournament.
#no mercy

Cause Pakistani spinners like Imad and Hafeez suck and don't take wickets. Only 10 wickets right?

Ashwin and Jadega are so good that Kohli is forced to bowl Jhadav all the time. LOL, he even had to bowl himself one time when Jadega was being knocked out of the ground like no tomorrow. Jadega and Ashwin can't even make the Pak A team aur apni batein dekho..

Jadhav too is an Indian spinner. Why single him out as some bad bowler? He averages 26.5 in ODI cricket with the ball. And the point was how Pakistani spinners don't pick wickets. Indian spinners have picked far more wickets than their Pakistani counterparts. Aap apni baatein dekho.

Compare Hasan and Imad's bowling vs other teams compared to against us. Other teams don't know how to play Pakistani bowling plus used pitches helped them a bit. We do. Hence our domination.

yep. they were lucky to get used and sticky wickets. on top of that, they won 3 important toss as well. that's why books never believed that this Pak team will challenge India. they kept India as fav even when they were not even qualified to the finals and pak was already in finals.

But our bowling will get to bowl to Pakistani batting so will prolly end up with better stats :P

Hasan Ali is on the top of most wicket takers. Junaid Khan is 4th. Speaks for itself.

Yeah. Only in the 1st match they conceded runs. After that they have bowled well.

Only this morning, listening to talksport radio, they were saying that for the time being (until India qualify for the final) Pakistan were the bookie favs. Of course that would change once the 2nd semi was over. Stop spreading falsehoods.

No you are spreading falsehoods. It was -140 for India right after first semi finals. +120 for Pakistan. I swear. I am not sure how I can prove now. if there is any neutrals here, who checked after first semi, can tell us who is right here.

Hasan Ali is real great find for Pak. Not only he bowls well, the lad is so inspired and energetic and lefts everyone else up. He reminds me of Brett Lee in his celebration and something about him, that lifts the side!

You are talking about the Indian market, I am telling you about the market in England (neutral once England got eliminated). No bookie would favour a team who has not qualified for final over one that is already there.
Anyway now that India is in the final, they will now be the favs, it's their cup to lose.

Lol. I am not in India. I am currently in the US. sites here get cricket odds from UK. anyway we cannot prove, so better agree to disagree. move on.

good you are atleast accepting now that India is big fav. thought you would say something like 50-50.

Indian bowlers lack the killer instinct just like Pakistani batsmen lack it. That's why despite them having better conditioned, trained, monitored bowlers they were thrashed.

Pakistan is the only team that has both quality pacers and good spinners, which is a big reason why they have the strongest bowling line up in the world. We have World class pacers in Amir and Hasan and good baking up options in Junaid and Rumman. We have a young incredible leggie in Shadab and 2 very good containing spin bowlers in Imad Wasim and M Hafeez who can choke the opposition team by drying up the runs, preventing teams scoring big. These players all make one exciting and a very lethal bowling attack which has the ability to blow away any batting order in the world in any situation. Pakistan will fully rely upon them in 2019 WC and I am pretty they will play a major role in making us victorious again.

I would like to think my opinions are honest and based on the mind and not the heart.

So - in my opinion, it is beyond any doubt that Pakistan have the best bowling attack in the world now that Dale Steyn is finished and Cummins is hit and miss for Aussies.

If the Aussies had Hazelwood, Starc and Cummins at full fitness, it would be close. However, they don't have Pakistan's spin options.

Pakistan clearly the number 1 bowling attack in world cricket.

Pakistan
Australia
England (Wood, Anderson, Broad, Finn, Stokes)
Saffers
New Zealand
India
Windies (Gabriel, Roach, Taylor, Joseph are probably as good as Indian attack).
Bangladesh and Afghanistan equal
Zimbabwe

However - our batting is very poor :-(

In the CT we were by some margin. It's easy to see whether you look at averages or no. of wickets, Pakistan are dominating the top ten. Even just watching regardless of stats, that attack looked formidable. Strongest pace attack certainly we've fielded in a long time, which is strange as not too long ago, before Hasan came onto the scene (and obviously Junaid had returned back renewed), it was one of the worst.

We're still lacking in the spin department. Shadab is promising, but in general not the standard of guys like tahir (or ajmal before chucking), though it's only one player. I'm not sure Imad is really good enough to be a specialist spinner (especially on tracks favouring spin) and Hafeez's bowling has regressed a lot, he's just a part timer now. Though Shadab is young and will improve with time.

Our weaknesses atm are lower order (not too sure on Malik, Hafeez, Imad, only Sarfraz assures me) and spin bowlers. Azhar should be straight swapped out for Haris (either Haris or Babar opening). Sharjeel coming back could help I guess too if he's innocent. Our batting is actually looking stronger these days, Babar, Fakhar, Sarfraz all look like quality, average well at good SRs. Haris and Sharjeel who have had previous good international exploits could make the line up even stronger. Have never been so confident in a Pak ODI batting line up before.

Pakistan comfortably stood out among all bowling units. Best job was against Eng.
