I have reluctantly had to pose this question after observing closely for a few years.
First and foremost, I could care less about who rules Pakistan. I don’t pay my taxes there, I don’t earn my living from Pakistan. I honestly have no intention to ever going back and living in Pakistan either. It’s great for wedding holidays but that’s about it really for me. Nice, cheap street food and restaurants as well.
But for those who are strong supporters of Imran Khan’s ideology and perspective of Pakistan, I have come to realise that they will not settle for anything besides Khan’s government in charge of the country. If they win the elections, it’s great for them and Pakistan will be advancing according to their views. If they don’t or are out of power, the leaders are evil and corrupt to the core for them, they will not acknowledge any other leadership besides Khan or PTI. Fair enough, it’s their view and they are entitled to get what they want through proper channels.
From what I can see, Pakistani politics is just too complicated for a fair and democratic outcome that would suit all of its citizens (home and abroad). The PTI phenomenon is too big and too strong now, but they will not be able to always be allowed to remain long enough to make the changes they like for the nation.
This cannot continue, it will just lead to more and more chaos. Maybe now is the time to realise that PTI and Imran Khan’s ideology is in fact a completely separate national identity that deserves its own space, it’s own foreign and internal policies and it’s own National protection agencies instead of having to cooperate with the other establishment.
It is better to separate and dissociate instead of continuously fighting and sustaining this tense political atmosphere. Indian Muslims and Pakistanis are Muslims still just divided by a border. Indian Punjabis and Pakistani Punjabis are punjabis still but just divided by a border. Maybe it is the right way to go and make a border between Pakistan. People deserve to live in peace, not ongoing continuous political strife. Let the people of Pakistan choose which Pakistan they want to identify with, and let them live in that Pakistan with peace and serenity.
