Is PTI's downfall going to be the massive expectations they created?

I can see non stop criticism now in all sections and some folks are now ranting about how unfair the criticism against PML-N and PPP was. The problem is the people of Pakistan are extremely impatient by nature and expect 60-70 years of misgovernace to be removed in one day. The PTI itself is also responsible for promoting and promising that they would bring in massive change in 100 days, if they hadn't promised it they probably wouldn't have had much support.

But one criticism that is indeed justifiable and is now becoming apparent with each and every passing day is that the party was completely unprepared for taking office and tackling the problems of the country and there have already been many U-turns which is only going to hurt the parties credibility.

I can already see that the hype and fascination around the austerity measures, the dam fund raising drive, promises to bring back looted wealth, bringing urgent change to state institutions, bureaucracy, police e.t.c. is beginning to die down and now the party is being seen as just another political party in office following the foot steps of its predecessors.

What can the PTI and the PM do to keep the morale of the nation up and their own government safe from the PML-N, PPP social media and media attacks for the duration of their tenure?

I don't think so because these are early days and when PTI will finish their term their performance will be way better then their predecessor and the masses most likely will want to continue on the path of change.

A lot depends on how they finish and how the public thinks.

They may be able to turn things around for the better in the last part of their tenure and produce the sort of visible outcome that attracts votes.

Whether they even deserve another tenure (as per the opinion of myself and like minded individuals) also remains to be seen and can only be judged at the end. At the moment they have been willing to take the tough decisions that were required but they have made some mistakes as well.

I hope at least that even if Pakistan rejects PTI, right or wrong, we'll have the sense to not go back to PPP and PML-N.

He should have clarified to people that he won't be able to build millions of houses, create 10 million jobs and reduce poverty without taking further loans in 60 days. I think this bit isn't clear to lot of people.

IK has worked more in his 60days than NS has worked in his entire stint as PM. Normally NS spent a quarter of his time abroad on holiday or meeting corrupt people like Naqvi to receive bribes.

PPP and PML-N together are playing the victim role and delusioning (I know it's wrong grammar) the public. Pushing the general public and critics to lash on PTI for not full filling their promises/works in 60 days.

Before the election I'm sure public was aware that if IK becomes the PM. He is not going to solve issues with a magic wand. It takes time. But as I said the opposition are tempting the people to turn the swords towards IK.

I think its quickly dawning on PTI and their fans that criticizing others and campaigning is much easier than running a country. Despite being in opposition for so many years and having big wigs in all departments, PTI is acting like it just came on the political scene a week ago. I would still cut them slack and would give them at least 2 years to really show their potential.

PTI’s downfall will be it’s own hardcore supporters. When you keep bringing the opposition into every discussion, in justifying the short term and long term failures of PTI, then it’s the opposition that gets the publicity. As they say; no publicity is bad publicity.

Can you handle the truth?

The answer is easy. The #1 concern for Pakistanis is the economy, followed by security. Improvements in both will go hand in hand. If IK can bring about modernization of Pakistan's economy, then he would have judged to have succeeded. An objective measure of the modernization of Pakistan's economy is the mix of exports, and you can track changes in the following to judge how well IK has been doing his job.

All this talk about bringing back looted wealth and ending corruption is nonsense to fool the voters. Maybe NS took $1 billion in bribes, but that is minuscule amount compared to the hundreds of billions being lost due to Pakistan's underdevelopment. For economic development to happen you need to get the Army out of the economy and you need to provide security for foreign investors rather than providing security for Bin Laden to hide next to your Army base. Sadly IK shows no signs of moving the country towards economic development.
