Is Ramiz Raja's plan for a summer window for the PSL in Pakistan practical?

One pessimistic poster thinks not because it is too unbearably hot to do anything outdoors from June to September in Pakistan. I believe the PCB in the past have held their ODI and T-20 domestic tournaments in Pakistan during these months.

Ramiz is thinking along the lines of taking the league to places like Muzzafarabad, Swat, Gilgit Baltistan, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Quetta, Gwadar.

The PCB right now is competing with the BBL, BPL, IPL and now the Emirates League from December to May and given that the PCB cannot compete financially with the IPL and is forced to hold its own league just before the IPL, its ability to attract the top players suffers.

By holding the league in the summers from June to Sept, the PCB will be competing with the CPL, Natwest T-20 league and the blast. As someone who wants Pakistan Cricket and the PSL to do well, what is the harm in trying to change things and try something new.

The PCB will have to urgently upgrade the stadiums, facilities up north and to adjust its FTP to create space in the June to September window to make this work.

Do we want our cricketers to burn to death in the summers ?

Those second tier venues are not currently in any condition to host major tournaments, and security-wise they are higher risk areas.

lol, this has already been discussed, yet you made a thread..

Rameez Raja's plan is ridiculous and it shows he has not done outdoor jobs for a long time. Commentating in AC rooms are easy.

June-September is too hot for a home tournament. WHy do you think we go for England tour and other tours during that time frame? The weather is unbearable with humidity in the air.

Even if you force your players to play, no foreign player is gonna come. Everyone will go to the CPL as the weather is chill there and the atmosphere is very good there. Its a vacation there.

Also, as discussed before, cricket aint gonna happen in the north. lol Quetta? I dare Rameez Raja to host an international match in Quetta. If Quetta has an international match held or a PSL with foreing players in the next 5 years, i will keep my mouth shut from here.

You really have no idea the country's weather and security issues etc

Even a December-Jan window is abit difficult for hosting in Lahore due to fog and smog.

It is too hot in the major cricketing cities and there is insufficiently developed infrastracture in cooler regions.

Lahore and Karachi have similar weather as Punjab and Gujarat in June and July, searing heat with hot summer winds.
I have played domestic tournaments in college days and they are almost always organised in winter.. September to March at most.. I mean playing even in the evening at 7 PM is hard in June and July.. causes lot of dehydration and loss of fluids.
Good luck trying that window.
