Is Rohit Sharma the ultimate home track bully?

He is the one who is saving India from embarrassment at the moment but he could also be the first one to put India under pressure early in England. :inti

Lol true.

Rohit vs Jimmy in England will be a scary proposition.

But then none of our bats look like they can play swing well.

Man of match will be Rishabh Pant though. Two series decider man of match unless someone produces something special tomorrow from England.

I think Sundar might cross him tomorrow but no comparison. This is a MoM performance by a mile.

WTC is over for Rohit. Good start but couldn't make it count big.

5 more tests for Rohit to prove his point in England. Still zero away hundred but has justified his spot as opener though.

Considering the conditions, he batted quite well.
He did not knick off in the first over as expected

This being a low scoring match, he batted really well. A 30 in these conditions is a 70 in India and a 50 in Australia.

However good he is a test batsman in India, he isn't the answer to our opening problems in away tests. And we have now a decent enough sample size to come to that conclusion.

However he still has 5 more tests against England to prove naysayers wrong. That'd probably tell us whether he needs to be taken to SA as our test opener, later this year.

LOL his legacy will be that moment against steyn where he said "come to India and we will see".One of the most poor batsman I have ever seen.He averages 26 outside India.Home track bully of highest level.

No his legacy will be of one of the best ODI openers of all time with three double hundreds and most 150+ scores to his name.

You're probably hurt by all the thrashings he gave your bowlers in the last 4 years averaging almost 100. So I'll give you som leeway.

Rohit has ways been a LOI player, he was never good in tests barring a few innings.

This is why a lot of present day batsmen do not get enough respect, they are limited to playing a specific format, and hence do not get looked upon as great batsman.

Only a few like Virat, Kane, Smith are good across formats.

LOL nobody remembers these jam Odis stats. He went missing in that important champions trophy final which was his most important match against Pakistan he couldn't do zilch. He will always remain poor against bit of seam and swing movement. The greatest flat and home track bully ever.Mediocre batsman.

He is one of the all-time greats. All this talk of him being a FTB is overblown and frankly, untrue.

He has been excellent for India in Tests as an opener and was the prize wicket against England on turners.

India missed the trick by not opening with him in Tests over the last 5-6 years. He would have matched if not surpassed Sehwag’s numbers.

Phenomenal player.

Satisfied with his batting performance.
Making 30 odd consistently is good enough in English conditions, I never expected him to score like Kohli or Sachin.

Lol...an away avg of 27 and home avg of 80 and yet he's not a home bully for you.
I wonder what would be your opinion if he wasn't playing for your team.

He has batted well in this test, opening in England is always hard especially for subcontinent batsmen. Rohit is the least of India's worries atm.

Why? Is he Shan Masood? For a batsmen who averages over 50 in ODIs and in 40s in Tests, you would expect better

LOL even Shan Masood averages 30 away from home.Shan Masood is better than him.
All of our batsmen cannot bat in these seaming conditions even if their life is dependent on it...All of them will boost their averages playing in India

Anyone accepting Rohit as our test opener in away tests despite his less than mediocre returns over a period of time deserves the results we've been getting under Kohli.

Lol at all-time great. He is not even comparable to David Warner and Ross Taylor, both of them comes behind the Fab Four.

Rohit missing the test in England stamps his forgettable overseas legacy in Test Cricket. He has a total one century away from home in test cricket. Can't really recall any overseas test series coming in near future for India and as he is moving into late -30s, his test career remains forgettable one.

From this generation,

Kohli
Bumrah
Ashwin
Shami
Jadeja
Pujara
Pant
Rahane
KL Rahul(still debatable but has time on his side)

These names have bigger test legacy than Rohit Sharma.

What an innings from Rohit Sharma! It's his...

- 9th Test century
- 1st as captain
- 1st against Australia

Rohit is one of the best openers of all time. Not opening with him Tests until 2019 is easily the biggest blunder Kohli made during his captaincy tenure.

He was the GOAT Asian Test captain but it goes to show even GOATs can make the most obvious blunders.

Rohit should have been been the main Test opener since 2015 and he would have surpassed Sehwag as India’s greatest Test opener since Gavaskar.

4-5 years wasted for nothing.

Rohit Sharma gets his first 100 as Test captain, 9th overall!

He's the first Indian captain to hit a century in all three formats

Much like the Chennai Test two years, India captain Rohit Sharma has been India's lone warrior in the opening Test match against Australia of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. While the next best has been a knock of 23, from nightwatchman R Ashwin, Rohit has been a standout batter for India, reaching his ninth Test century, off 171 deliveries on the second afternoon of the match and with that scripted a marvellous piece of history for India. (India vs Australia Live Score and Updates 1st Test Day 2)

Rohit had started off on a fluent note after India folded Australia for just 177 on Day 1. His knock of 56 at the close of the opening day, reduced India's deficit to 100. He carried his momentum on the second morning as well but dismissals at the other end at regular intervals, urged him to check on his aggression. He eventually reached the three-figure mark on his 171st delivery, with a lofted shot over mid-off against Todd Murphy.

This was his ninth Test century and eighth at home and first as a captain since he took over the responsibility from Virat Kohli last year. With that, he joined Babar Azam, Faf du Plessis and Tillakaratne Dilshan to become the fourth batter to score centuries across formats as a captain.

The 35-year-old has scored six centuries across formats as captain of the Indian team. Three of them have been in ODIs while two in T20Is, where he remains the only ever Indian to achieve this feat. This was also his 38th century across formats as an opener, which remains the second-best tally after Sachin Tendulkar's 45. Six of them have come in Test cricket, which is now eighth best among Indians.

Lol at the one of the best openers of all time who has 1 century away from home in tests. He is one of the greatest HTB of all time.

We needed runs from him. He was the only Indian top 6 batsman who didn't had runs behind him.

Gill, Kohli, Iyer, Rahul has hundreds while Pandya and Kishan played a high quality knock under pressure vs Pakistan cricket team recently in Asia Cup.

The Hitman is a problem if he survives the opening spell on these pitches

What's wrong with being a home track Bully though? People act like it's a bad thing, Wasn't saeed Anwar a home track bully?

It takes skill to be a home track Bully lol, it's not easy. It just means you're a goat In home conditions but slightly weaker in oversees conditions. That doesn't mean rohit is a failure elsewhere.

He scored a super 140 against Pakistan in England in 2019 World Cup. The guy isn't a failure in overseas.

I would rather have a bully than someone mediocre everywhere
