Is Rubel Hossain the worst pacer in history to play more than 20 Tests?

Rubel has taken 32 test wickets at @77 in 24 tests.Mind boggling record. He is selected again for the series against South Africa. Is there another bowler of his class in the history of test cricket?

Shameful. Time to play Rony, Fizz, Taskin as our own green machine (with the spinners).

Criteria is quite strict #20 Tests

Otherwise Tanvir Ahmed Shahadat Hussain jaidev Unadkat tops it

He got tough competition from lord Ishant :ksi

I can't believe I'm agreeing with you on something but indeed it has to be between these two.

Shout out to M Sami as well playing 36 Tests with 50+average. Legends these three.

Come on.Ishant averages 36 after 77 tests which is not bad at all considering how little amount of overs he gets to bowl on home soil as a pacer on spin dominating Indian team.He has got seven 5 fer and 1 ten fer.He has pocketed 218 wickets.Comparing him to Rubel is just Injustice.

Yes, Sami can be compared but again Rubel will beat him easily for the title.Sami has a few tremendous spells here and there but Rubel has got none.

Rubel is only good for LOIs and that too only on pace friendly wickets.

You can't win many tests with bowlers averaging 70-80.

That is dreadful and shows he's not a Test class bowler.

Probably not even county standard.

Rubel is lucky to play so many tests!! He beats every one by his amazing stats. Selectors wanted to create a record,it's been created and they should have dropped Rubel now! But they again selected this useless test bowler again!!!

They must be waiting for his bowling average to cross the batting average of Don Bradman, so that he can illustriously be remembered with the greats of the game.

Since he averages around 80+, I decided to look for worst average by a bowler in tests (by average) and set the qualification parameter to 20 wkts. Here's top 10

1. Rubel Hossain - 80.33

2. IDK Salisbury - 76.95

3. Ian Chappel - 65.80

4. Farveez Maharoof - 65.24

5. Grant Flower - 61.48

6. Viv Richards - 61.37

7. Vijay Hazare - 61.00

8. M Ashraful - 60.52

9. Abdur Razzak - 59.75

10. Marlon Samuels - 59.63

Most people on this list are either part time bowlers or allrounders. Also 3 Bangladeshi bowlers in top 10.

Thoughts?

Yes,yes yes....Multiple yes is the answer to this question.

Rubel is a garbage test bowler who has got so many chances to play test cricket.I saw a similar thread on same topics few months back if i am not wrong.

Maybe selectors see something in him , they may have expected him to improve over the course of time.

Rubel Hossain is a joke bowler in long form cricket. Even at FC level he averages around 2 wkts per match and averages 55+

He's decent for LOI cricket and he should be picked only in those formats.

Wow if he is so bad why does he get selected? Surely Bangladesh has better options than him?
