Is stage fright for our players an actual possibility in the MCG Boxing Day Test?

I doubt anyone has played a test match in front of such a crowd!

I'd be much more worried about:

1) Getting great deliveries with the new ball (Azhar, Sami, Babar)

2) Being reduced to mediocrity by old age (Younis, Misbah)

3) Being a slow-medium trundler (Imran)

4) Being unable to bowl the right length (Rahat)

5) Being made mediocre by horrible field placings (Yasir, Wahab, Amir)

Younis and Misbah have played in Calcutta test(s). Sarfaraz played v India in the world t20 game in Calcutta earlier this year.

They should take inspiration from a place that Pakistan should hold very dear!!

Pak team is 100% capable of beating Aus at the MCG.

The only thing standing in there way is the STAGE FRIGHT and poor nerves.

This team is better than teams of the past in terms of handling pressure, yes, but still susceptible to that anxiety especially because they're timid when it comes to handling media or big crowds.

Real concern. Except Misbah who doesn't get bogged down or maybe YK too as both have done well in front of crowds.

A long batting order will help to mitigate some state fright. While I also feel that stage fright could happen, I remind myself that this a defensive dour batting line up that is rarely fazed by anything

I doubt the crowd will faze them. These guys have played big games before especially Misbah, YK, Sarfraz, Wahab and Amir.

I've seen our players get rattled by the pressure of in-game situations (i.e. world cup matches vs. India) but not by the crowd.

Its a more resilient team than many of its predecessors. I think they'll embrace it as a welcome change from the usual stuffed toys and empty seats they see in the UAE.

Its not mental weakness I'm worried about but technical weaknesses against the moving ball and short-pitched deliveries.

When one plays at this level Stage Fright is not an issue. One had to play many matches in front of lots of crowd to reach this level. Yes, there could be some anxiety as to how you might perform, specially when you are batting. When you realize that million of people are watching you perform the world over, specially back home and their expectations can weigh heavily on your mind. Most of the players though, are battle hardened and nothing affects them .... they have a way of turning such distractions off.
