Today Rohit also failed early, will u also call him over-rated? Rohit played brilliantly against AUS & Eng, but today he goes early. When kohli failed throughout this WC, Rohit, Sky and others scored. But today Rohit and Sky departs early, kohli batted brilliantly….. that’s a team work

He has been hyped up to much. He isnt terrible but he aint someone that needs to be hyped up

Today Sky not batted well, but his catch pulled up WC for us.

What fails. He is a risk taker. He can fail once in a while. He didn't fail while tuk tuking. That is his role. Try to understand how T20 works lol

In t20 cricket everyone is taking risk.


Before the match even began, Surya went around saying im under pressure. If you have cant handle pressure than dont hype him plz. Look at Kohli, lookat rohit, pandya and Bumrah. The way these guys perform under pressure.

If you want to put surya in the same sentence as these greats be my guest.

not here to convince anyone, just shared my opinion when at the time everyone was going on about surya this or surya that.

Anyways, for you lot it shouldnt matter if he is over rated or not, you won an ICC Trophy due to kohli and bumrah

I am still not fully convinced by Sky though have to acknowledge the flashes of brilliance, the next couple of years will be a big test with him becoming the senior in the side after Rohit/Kohli. That brings a lot of additional pressure and he needs to handle it
 
Indian posters are right though , he deserves a place in T20.. but should stay away in ODI

What pressure. When did KOhli and Rohit play T20? They missed like 30 to 40 matches in the last 2 or 3 years. It is only SkY that showed up even last year in West Indies. scoring 83 in 44 balls chasing a target at Guyana.

I can understand why you are playing that catch down @Major but that catch really was a huge difference between a six and an out.. he also played well in Semis..

That catch will be huge due to the situation..

bro, him being a decent batsman is a fair arguement

Back when he was added in the team in 2022, we kept hearing stories Surya is coming, Surya is going to this, Surya is going to do that. He was all over social media. His hype was similar to Varun Chakravarthys hype in 2021.

Thing is, he isnt some Kohli type player that can win you matches alone.

He performs against weaker bowling side, once in a while will perform against a good side. But he cant really handle pressure and when he sees Pakistan, he Sky goes under the ground.

Might be a decent batter, but not worth the hype that was there in 2022.

I am sure they will do well. I don't want one guy scoring 300 runs in a season. That is why we never won cups. In T20 you need a lot of short and impactful innings.
 
Surya failed when the team needed him the most. He played a shot that is his strength tbh but it did not went well. But that catch cleans all the dirt and it was one of the most important catches of his career.

Kohli can't win matches alone anymore, he batted well but people would have had his head if klaseen got them over.

The innings sky has played in t20 have single handidely outbatted oppositions.

Team needed him in semis too and he delivered.. it was also England

By that logic , every Pakistani player for the next 30 years will be a failure and overrated because Pakistan are not winning a single World Cup for the next 30 years
 
So it turns out, the only moment he had in the final was cheating a catch. So he is also a cheat now.

Catch was clean, 100% clean, his foot never once touched the rope. It was perfectly executed.

Unlike Pakistanis, Indians know the value of team effort and not individual names, and what player played his role at the right time to make this journey become successful.

-Sharma blasted out England and Australia in two crunch matches

-Kohli stepped up for India when all other’s who got India to this position (final) failed

-Pant played crucial knocks in the group stages to ensure India did enough to advance into the next round

-Surya played important knocks in the groups and then in the Super 8s (Australia) and Semi Final (England) to contribute in India’s success

-Dube played an important knock against USA in the groups, and his cameo at the end v SA enabled India to score just about enough runs in the final

-Hardik has been very good with the bat and the ball throughout the tournament

-Axar has been brilliant with the bat and the ball throughout the tournament

-Jadeja has been ok, not great but hey, he has been a great servant of Indian cricket to be allowed to be carried one tournament

-Bumrah, what can I say? Absolute game changing spells against Pakistan in the groups, against Australia taking the HUGE wicket of Travis Head and then the massive wicket of Phil Salt in the Semi Final. The second spell when SA needed 30 off 30, only a bowler of Bumrah’s impact could have made this task extremely difficult and he did so!

-Kuldeep brought in for the WI leg, the man was Imperious against Australia’s top order butchers. Massive wicket of Mitchell Marsh who was looking in murderous form, and then simply unplayable against England in the Semis. Took the massive wicket of Harry Brook when Brook was threatening to do something special (which he is more than capable of).

-Arshdeep Singh, the guy has become a reliable new ball bowler throughout the tournament and then doing an excellent job with Bumrah+Hardik in the last 5 overs of every innings. His bowling has reached another level in this tournament throughout




This World Cup is a team effort. Everyone who wore the blue shirt contributed just about enough when it was necessary. This isn’t a team that put all their eggs in one basket like Pakistan have done 3 tournaments in a row with RizBar

It’s funny how India keep beating Pakistan with Sky not performing against them yet.

This used to be the case with Kohli too early on his career. He wasn’t great against Pakistan until one day in some Asia cup he scored 180* or something. Since then, he never looked back against Pakistan. It’s not a big deal, just because you haven’t been great against Pakistan now doesn’t mean you are overrated. It’s a childish thing to say

Pakistanis have a weird fascination of ‘all format player’. They use this as a means to make a guy who is mediocre or decent in all formats to look better than those who are below par in one format but exceptional in others.

Pakistanis will argue Rizwan is a better cricketer than Heinrich Klaasen

Babar and rizwan aren't really all format players.

Their playing t20 yes in the same vein that alstair cook has played t20 or Williamson plays t20 or root has played t20.

But their not all format players lol.

Suryakumar Yadav is set to become India's T20I captain until the 2026 T20 World Cup, with Hardik Pandya serving as his vice-captain.

Pandya was initially considered for the role, but new head coach Gautam Gambhir and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar prefer Suryakumar.

Pandya will take a break during the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka for personal reasons.

Not a bad decision. Pandya is a good T20 player but has attitude issues at times.
 

Suryakumar Yadav eyes return to Test cricket​

India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav has revealed that he wants to ‘earn his spot’ in the Test side.​

Suryakumar Yadav has shown interest in finding his way back into India’s Test squad which is scheduled to play 10 Tests over the next few months.

With Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul and Rajat Patidar also fighting for a spot, Suryakumar acknowledges the uphill task ahead of him.
"There are a lot of people who have worked really hard to earn their place and even I want to earn that spot again," Suryakumar said.
"I made my debut for India in Tests. After that, I got injured as well. There were a lot of people who got an opportunity and have done well too. They deserve that opportunity right now.”

Suryakumar Yadav won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant 25-ball 61* filled with incredible strokeplay for India against Zimbabwe at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022

The 33-year-old will return to play red-ball cricket in the Duleep Trophy - India’s domestic tournament - for his home side Mumbai. Suryakumar will also make his appearance in the Buchi Babu tournament.

Looking ahead to the action, Suryakumar is focused on making a positive impact." Going forward, if I have to play, then I will automatically play. That's not in my control. What's in my power right now is to play the Buchi Babu tournament, go on to play the Duleep Trophy and then see what happens.

In a bid to find his way into the Test squad, he emphasises that the longest format has always been his priority.

"Red-ball cricket has always been my priority. When I grew up in the maidans (grounds) of Mumbai and played a lot of local cricket, I started playing with the red cherry. The love for the longest format began there, and has always been there,” added Suryakumar.

"I have taken part in a lot of first-class matches for more than ten years now and I still cherish playing this format.

Well he can be very successful in test if he apply himself.. There's plenty of gaps in test matches to score runs..
