This might seem strange to some given this was an Australian C team but I believe this was one of our greatest LOI series win.

Given the pressure of playing at home against Australia with an inexperienced team we did really well :)

After getting blown away in the first ODI and again staring at a huge deficit when Australian posted 348 - Pakistan did an incredible job to chase down a record total. Plus we blew them away in the series decider on flat pitch. First time since 2005 we have come from behind to win an ODI series.

On top of that it is first time we have won an ODI series against Australia since 2002 :)

These bilateral ODI series are mostly forgotten and hardly have any value. What really matters is a TEST series win....which unfortunately we lost.

The last time we beat Australia in a bilateral series - 2002 - is probably a better candidate. No comparison between the Australian sides.

Personally, recovering from 2-0 down to beat India 4-2 away in 2005 with a bowling attack led by Rana Naved of all people remains our best bilateral ODI victory.

No, a lot of things went in our favour i.e. toss, dew, Australia missing almost all of their first choice players, home conditions e.t.c.

The only advantage that we got from this series is that the team management have seen the brand of cricket that is being played by a top team closely, and they are trying to adapt that brand of cricket themselves now.

I am bit annoyed that we didnt test the likes of M Haris, Asif Afridi in the series.

I rather we had lost in the process of testing new faces.

I somewhat agree but keep in mind our team in 2002 / 2005 was also significantly stronger.

2002 Series win in Australia was better. Also winning tri series vs Aus/WI in 96/7 if i remember rightly was a great achievement to.

That don’t make any sense . They would have been crucified had they lost to what is perceived as a Australia B or C team . On top of that they had World Cup qualification to think about .

But thinking about it further , there were a host of new players in the team . Mohammad Wasim , mahmood, khushdil have barely played any one day matches and were tested and delivered with varied success .

An ODI series win against Australia after 20 years will always be special. Doesn’t matter if the team was Australia C as OP suggests. Congrats!

Shades of India-Australia 2013 ODI series. Kohli-Rohit chasing 360 in 43 overs. Rohit hitting 209 in the deciding game. Here Imam and Babar’s twin centuries.

Imam-Babar could become Pakistan’s Rohit-Kohli for the next few years.

Aus regularly send their C/D team over to NZ, definitely not the same as beating their full strength team. It's hollow because you know they're resting their world class players who would make a massive difference.

To answer OPs question, if it's not home series, the series win against India with Nasir Jamshed was much better.

Was good to win a deciding game in a series in lahore.

We have lost a world cup semi final here. Had humilating defeats to india, SL and SA here to in series deciding games in lahore.

i was lucky enough to see pakistan win a series decider here in 97 vs India. When Ijaz Ahmed assaulted indian bowlers in a brutal inns off 139 off 84 balls.

Well done today to imam and babar to win a series here convincingly.

I don't think this is Pakistan's best win.

Their 2002 win was superior. That win came against an ATG Aussie team in their own backyard.

Lol what? This was our A team against Australia's C team, hosted in our own backyard and with all the advantage of winning the toss every time.

Any of the top 8 international sides would be winning a series in these conditions. This win was nothing special.

I totally agree with you, okaying Ifti, Asif Ali and Khushdil together is unbelievable. Also they played Zahid for all three ODis who is a mediocre, could have tried Asif Afridi even U. Qadir is better than him.

Agree but our team back then was also superior

Thier was hardly any dew and the pitch conditions is similar you get in England flat as a pancake.

Shadab and Nawaz were injured and they are the core of the bowling line up.

Pakistan had a bowling line up of: Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Saqlain, Razzaq, Afridi and Azhar Mahmood :yk

All bases covered. GOAT ODI attack, ever.

2002 was much better the Aussie team was world class and it was down under in Aus winter
Hayden Gilchrist Ponting Martyn S Waugh Bevan Watson Bichel Lee Warne Mcgrath
All World class players

One has to realise that Australia was without several key players for this series. It was by no means their strongest squad.

This series is also the first time since 2002 series that Pakistan have won 2 consecutive ODIs against Australia.

In ODIs, Pakistan usually only win match followed by a string of defeats.

I don't think look at this series win with those eyes. There are probably 5-10 series wins that were bigger and meant more than this.

Simply off the top of my head I would say the 2012 series wins against India and South Africa were far bigger because those Pakistani sides were not good at all.

Instead we should look at this series win as the start of something new. I can't recall the last time Pakistan came from behind to win an ODI series. And not just win it, but win it in style by playing exciting and aggressive cricket that is in-line with the modern day standards of ODI cricket.

Chasing 350 in one game and then demolishing the opposition in the other game by 9 wickets is quite impressive. Even more so when the opposition is Australia.

What we need now is consistency. Alot of us thought we would get it after the South Africa ODI series too but then we got smashed 3-0 by England C.

And the only way you will get consistency is by backing this same crop of players...not by chopping and changing and introducing new faces every series. There is still alot of chaff that needs to be separated from the wheat. Zahid Mehmood, Asif Afridi etc. etc. And Shadab and Nawaz badly need to return to the limited-overs teams. But the core should remain the same going into 2023.
