Is the Hyderabad Kingsmen side just participating in the PSL for fun as opposed to seriously compete?

Some of their decisions have been really mindboggling i.e. the selection of Marnus Labuschange as their direct signing and then appointing him as captain of the Franchise. Selection of a lot of US based players who lets be fair are not international quality, selection of Pakistani US based players like Hammad Azam who are way past it.

The decision to bench Sharjeel Khan.

I am surprised that Jason Gillespie has agreed and signed off on all these decisions.

The attitude and behavior of the owner Fawad Sarwar is equally cringe and offputting.

They seriously need to get their act together because a horribly weak team which everyone takes for granted only hurts the PSL overall.
 
I said it from day 1, Fawad Sarwar acts like a like a guy suffering from mid life crises.

Fans on this forum were going gaga

Most likely they will get better with more experience and Marnus won't be signed again.... Think they need a galactico type signing next season. :kakmal
 
More than Marnus the selection of Hammad was shocking. It showed a complete lack of knowledge of Pakistan cricket. They gave a contract to a lad who had to flee because he wasn't good enough, that too as a specialist number 8 batsman!
 
I mean, the name itself is a joke.

And Marnus ain't a T20 bat.
 
Some poor picks by them.. They Houston Kingsmen type signing tbh... They are just filling USA quota I guess.
 
They deserve to lose by picking players like hammad , Saad ali who weren't even good enough when in their prime for PSL let alone now.

another league for players like Hammad Azam lol, they are doing the same bs that ipl owners do of destroying local culture of jamaica tallawahs that were multiple time champions just to show off, it's their franchise but it's not a good move

As I said, its nothing more than a vanity project for the owner. He looks like one of those deranged rich diaspora types who are desperate to be acknowledged by their home country, which they left and wanted nothing to do with
 
I said it in the other thread of theirs that this team just doesn't make any sense.

A range of out of sorts players who aren't capable of playing T20 cricket put into a team together just because the owner is an American Pakistani who brought the players that left Pak to play for USA but aren't even getting into that team either back in the PSL for nothing.

It is such a shame to have this team as one of the new teams.

yeah massive flaws especially with a player like marnus, who's also a captain, btw psl had limited options, but the things is they can atleast still identify some young talene tform other countries too or players who still have something in them, like Brook, Salt in past and even now I think James Coles, Jason Smith, but then they pick players like Saud Shakeel, labuschange, khwaja, williamson, players like that and make them captain, that already has dropped the league's value further, I mean at best it was called 2nd best league in the worl, also the domestic structure is'nt great either someone who absolutely dominates or special can be called a somewhat international quality player like Farhan in last year's National cup or Saim Ayub once, and also some fans compare it with IPL, some call that it has better balling quality as well, viewership, none of which is true at all, like who's the best t20 bowlers the batters in psl are facing Akram, Marshall, Mcgrath, Donald?, no it's actually AFridi, Rauf who struggle against USA, Afghanistan, SL leevl teams, and only international bowlers are'n even high quality anyway except for Zampa, Moeen, Alzarri, whereas in IPL 220-280 is the norm now, and indian talent there faces and thrives agaisnt hig quality bowlers such as Archer, Henry, Duffy, Starc, Boult, Rabada etc and even bets t20 level players and great scouting occurs,a nd then instead of trying to make psl better and catch up, they sign up players like Hammad Azam, Marnus, lol

There are plenty of good players out there that you could probably sign for cheap too if you spend time doing scouting and watching other leagues like SA20, Hundred. But I don't get the sense that any of these franchises spend much time doing that. From SA20 alone there are a plethora of players like Coles, Jason Smith; but also Jordan Hermann, Connor Esterhuizen, Bryce Parsons, Dan Lawrence, Gideon Peters, Leus du Plooy - players who haven't been picked in the IPL but are good players that could add alot of value to these teams.

yeah problem with PSL is even in scouting they're not good, but yeah a lot of these young players of teams are gold especially considering the quality of the league right now
 
After the toss. Looking at their team sheet. I called it that they won't win even after scoring 200+.

Their bowling is barely complete. I mean look at their bowling today.

Riley, Ali and Theekshana. Rest are all rounders and part timers.
 
Curious what Jason Gillespie's role in the auction was? So far he is proving the PCB was right to kick him out.
